    The Greek word for Rose (Triantáfillo-Τριαντάφυλλο)
    is a compound word from (Triánta= thirty(30))
    and (Fíllo= leaf or petal)...= so, you can say, that
    we call it in Greece, the thirty-petal.

    In Ukrainian we only really use "roza" for wind rose (роза вітрів), there's also "rozha" (рожа) and "ruzha" (ружа) with French J sound but both are now archaic. We mostly say "troyanda" (троянда), joining Greece and Romania :)

      It sounds a lot like the greek ''Triantafillo''. It comes from Trianta (30) and filla (leaves/petals) so it literally means ''Thirty petals''. Is the romanian coming from greek as well or it means something else?

    The greek word triandafilo means that the plant has 30(τριάντα/trianda) leaves(φύλλο/fillo) so technically it makes more sense

    Well, it's wrong. If you mean rose as a flower, it's "ruža", the same word in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia - Herzegovina and Montenegro. We also have the same word for rose as a colour, it's "roze" or "roza".

    Funfact: in bosnia and herzegovina we dont say rose we say ruža. Like ruuužža and not Rosa :) it is common to make mistakes like this though since many people arent from bosnia

      The word Roza (ροζα) exists in Greek language with basically the same meaning. Its actually a female name in Greece (a bit rare but still) and there's also a song with that title which is one of the most famous Greek songs ever. If you hear old Greek music you will know it 100%. But the word triadafyllo (τριανταφυλο) is way more common

    I think there's a mistake at Albanian. As a Kosovo Albanian, we don't use the English word, we use "trëndafil", "trëndafili" or "trëndafila". It's true, even Google Translate agrees.

    arabic (airtafae)
    albanian (trëndafili)
    turkmen (güdelli)
    punjabi (gulāba)
    luxembourgish (opgestan)
    ewe (dzi ɖe edzi)

      Hahaha I'm a greek so I didn't scared of it btw it means 30 leafs in greek 30 is τριάντα and leaf φύλο so τριαντάφυλλο...
