Hey jack an easy way to remember some of these, Remember Czechoslovakia, the old country meaning that czechia, and slovakia both border, but czechia comes first, also with Austria-hungary! and Moldova is fully in the gap between romania and ukraine, so if you have romania, or ukraine first before another, moldova is directly bordering North/South! Hope some of this helps :)

Similar to how I remember which Baltic country is Lithuania. Referring of course to the commonwealth. Similarly Estonia is on top near Finland because they have languages of similar origins.

I find it fascinating that the fact that there used to be a country called "Czechoslovakia" doesn't immediately make you realize that Slovakia is the one that neighbors Czechia. That also made me feel old 🙂

To remember the difference between Slovakia and Slovenia on the map, remember the Czechoslovakia used to be a thing. Therefore, Slovakia will be next to Czechia

I remember that Vienna and Bukarest are the closest European capitals (excluding Vatican and Rome) and Vienna is on the eastern border so you know where Slovakia is.

Luxembourg isn't a microstate, yes it's small, but it's not small enough to be considered one. You can fit Singapore, Malta, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, and Andorra all in Luxembourg

How I remember Slovakia and Slovenia is “Czechoslovakia” which broken up to be Czechia/Czech Republic and Slovakia, so I know it borders Czechia 🇨🇿

Did you know that Luxenberg is going to be easy once you've already got Belgium?
Here’s a little tip I picked up for distinguishing between Slovenia and Slovakia:
*Shape*: The shape of both countries are quite similar. Both consist of an equally scaled blob, with a sort of “tail” sticking out to the east. But on Slovakia that tail curves and ends up facing south, while Slovenias tail sticks up a bit more north and doesn’t curve.
*On a map*: Both Slovenia and Slovakia were part of other countries before. Slovenias being Yugoslavia and Slovakias being Czechoslovakia.
Because of this, Slovakia is located directly to the southeast of Czechia, while Slovenia is located south of Switzerland and bordering the most northeast part of Italy. Slovenia is also smaller, being roughly 1/4 the size of Slovakia.
*Flags*: The flags are, just as the border outlines, quite similar. Both consist of three stripes (white, blue, red) and a shield smacked on top. (“Shield” probably not the correct word but you know what I mean)
To distinguish them we can use the fact that Slovenia covers a smaller landmass than Slovakia, because it also has a smaller shield on the flag.
Slovenia = 🇸🇮
Slovakia = 🇸🇰

I heard somewhere that Kenya is trying to change their name to what it's supposed to be, like Türkiye. So Kenya will be Kenenyaga or something like that I don't remember what it's going to be or if they've already changed it or not, but it's nice to see countries speak up for themselves and change their country names.
It’s not nice to see at all, it is extremely stupid & confusing. Each language have their own names for every country, English is no different - no country has the right to try & pressure or shame speakers of another language into changing well-established names to endonyms whose spelling & pronunciation run counter to the rules of said language.
Besides, it’s not like this is a genuine concern for any real everyday Turkish person. It’s just another cynical political move by Erdoğan trying to distract people from the fact that he’s running the country into the ground.
I was just tryna explain that Türkiye wasn't the only country fixing it's name like damn why are you so mad over a fact I randomly knew. And also its a different language that I don't think you know so the spelling could change the pronunciation of the word. Think before you speak like damn
@@Johnathan2027 I mean for the record, there was never talk of Kenya changing its name & even if there was, it would be disanalogous because the country is also called “Kenya” in Swahili.
And to your second point, countries’ names shouldn’t be expected to be the same across languages for this precise reason. You shouldn’t have to know another language to be correctly say its name, that’s what exonyms are for. That’s why every language has their own names for each country. And that’s why it should stay that way.
Im gonna say a random fun fact:
Belgium got independence from the Netherlands and Luxembourg got independence from Belgium so Netherlands is like a father/grandpa to them
For any future reference to find Hungary just remember the name Austro-hungarian empire ( Austria on left and Hungary on right of Austria ) it will help a little bit.
