Thank you! This simple 4 minute video gave me the confidence to try to diagnose why my recliner wouldn't go up and down, but the headrest controls still worked. It turned out some of the netting on the bottom of the sofa had gotten caught up in the motor gear. I was able to remove it and get it working again. Start to finish was under 30 minutes, and it solved something that I had been living with for 3 months!
Thanks so much! My husband had tried everything but replacing the buttons. He ordered a new unit, and it worked immediately. You saved his favorite chair!
When I plug the power cord into the motor's cord, the transformer's "POWER ON" indicator light goes out...and no power to the button controller's LED light. Transformer is putting out 29.88 VDC, and new button controller. Could this be a limiter micro-switch issue? UPDATE: It was two wires in the motor housing that got pinched, and insulation stripped off, by one of the screws that holds the motor cover on and the cover - causing a short circuit. A little electric tape, and carefully tucking the wires back in - all is good now!
@@Greatfurnituredeal thanks I was able to find what I needed, have RECIEVED part and was able to have everything working in about an hour. Not bad for a 78 year old, but capable! Thanks again your video gave me the confidence to tackle the project.
I just bought a new recliner and put it together today it has the handle on the inside it's manual can you tell me if there's a release mechanism that might be on my chair
Check underneath. We usually ship them with a wire or zip tie on the mechanism to keep it closed in transportation. Once you remove that it will allow you to recline freely.
I need help with older recliner lift chair w/ heat and massage. the problem: the "down" function of the recliner has been malfunctioning intermittently past few months. we replaced the hand control with a new controller and the same thing is happening. we replaced the motor. same thing is still happening. Our next thought is to replace the junction control box. your thoughts?
Is it possible to feel heat when sitting in the recliner if the motor or connection is going bad? All functions on my reclining sofa are working, but I'm feeling heat in the backrest and seat when sitting in it. I appreciate your time, Maria
Maria, if you feel heat and you don't have a chair with heat built into the chair (and have not before), there is a chance that the motor in your backrest (it controls the power headrest) is going bad. It shouldn't heat up enough for you to feel it in normal conditions. 800-970-5889 if you need further help.
Is it possible for green light on transformer to be on and it is still bad? Foot and head rest don’t work on left side. I removed my control switch from left side of couch and plugged into right side and it worked fine. Power supply/transformer on left has green light on.
Does the couch share the same power supply? If it does and the left side works, it is not the power supply. If you just moved the control switch and it worked, the control switch is the issue. Call us at 801-609-3220 if you need further assistance or to purchase a replacement control.
My recliner couch headrest is stuck in the forward position. I plugged it in and had the green light, the chair was working until it got stuck in a headrest forward position. Now the power box light is flickering while it’s plugged into the couch. If I disconnect the box from the couch the light turns green. The other side of the couch doesn’t work at all. I’ve tried using a different power connector that I know and verified works and the same situation happens. So I don’t think it is a power supply issue. Could a motor going out on one side of a couch make the other side not work?
If it is reclining on its own, the motor is broken and needs to be replaced. It is no longer holding its position and has to be replaced. Let us know what motor you have and we can assist in getting you replacement. 800-970-5889
So my issue is, The foot and head rest do not work at all. I already replaced the power supply but when i plug the power supply into the wall, I have a green light that lights up on the power supply (which is good). When I plug the power supply into the chair, the light turns off. Can you help me?
You have a short in your system. Either your base motor is bad or your button/remote is bad. If you plug in your power supply and that goes off, you have an issue with the motor or button/remote. Let us know which motor you have and button/remote and we can help with a replacement. 800-970-5889
So when i got up the chair nearly fell foward its 4 days old now the button for down and up not working the chair makes a noise when i push one of the button and slowly goes up or down pls i need help
It is most likely your button/hand control. I would replace that to get it to close. You can text us a picture of your button or hand control here 801 609 3220
The power supply lights up when its plugged into an outlet, but won't light up when plugged into the chair. So as long as its not plugged into the chair i get a green light on the power supply, but the second i plug the recliner into the power supply, the green light goes off. any ideas? thanks so much
Your power supply could have an issue and not sending enough power to supply the motor or the motor has a short and is bad and shuts down the power supply when connected. I would start with a new power supply. If that doesn't work, replace the motor.
@@Greatfurnituredeal Thank you. Is that two prong power supply you sell on your site universal? Mine looks like yours, anything special I should look for?
@@TheRawdaddy they work with most brands. We know the one we sell is for power recliners so we recommend it because it is compatible with your button and motor.
On the topic of electrical shorts, I'd also check to ensure the cord from the transformer isn't damaged whereas the copper wires on both portions of the cord are visible and potentially touching, thus causing a short.
I would ensure your power supply is in good working condition first. It that is providing the proper voltage to the chair, next step would be the controls. If not those, then you know it is the motor. 800-970-5889 if you have any other questions.
I was gonna toss my recliner out but your video popped up. I know it’s the motor that died. The leg rest and recliner won’t work. It is stuck with the foot rest out and semi reclined. I called a local person and they wanted to charge $500 plus taxes to fix it. I landed up buying a new one but if I don’t have to get rid of my current one in great shape I’ll keep it if it’s not gonna cost me a lot to fix it and if it is something I can do myself if I’m not a handy person. Please help.

Hi, what could be the issue if reclining works, but as I sit on the side closer to where the button is, it just reclined back on its own

How do you know if the switch is good or bad? Is there a fuse ?
It is hard to diagnose a switch. They don't have a fuse. A replacement is really the easiest way to find out.

My recliner is stuck up and won’t come down.
Check: 1. Power supply
2. Buttons
3. Motor
That is the process. Thank you for sharing.
What if my power recliner reclines just by sitting on it.
If it reclines just by sitting on it, the mechanism or the motor must be broken as it should hold in place.
Hello
