5 simple tips on how to prevent algae growth in aquariums:
1) Keep algae eaters such as snails and shrimp, they help to consume algae on the aquarium glass and plants.
2) Keep floating plants to block out excess light. Floating plants also absorb excess nutrients such as ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates.
3) Use a timer to control the lighting period. This helps to control algae growth by limiting their light.
4) Keep less fish (low stocking density), which would then produce less waste.
5) Feed less, do not overfeed. This is good for fish health, and also less waste which prevents algae growth in the fish tank.
