Talk about GAS... that Templo Comp had me on their website looking at it from zooming in on your video, before I saw it listed in the info or heard you talk about it, haha. What an awesome and sensible little box. Added to my list of possible future stuff. Nice content, sub'd. :) Elektron wise, I was never much into their gear from what I'd seen but I recently got a used MKI Analog Four (like you've said, great deal, couldn't pass up) and I will never sell it. It's just amazing. (to me) being able to put in 64 steps and if you want, on each one of those steps lock the settings of up to 128 different parameters, including effects, that's really powerful. Quite different to other gear I have. The four 'synth' tracks can have their audio chained between them and external audio brought in, so if you set it up you can run external audio through 8 filters (or four in stereo) to use it like a crazy sequenced filter bank. the CV and FX tracks also have the same automation / lock ability and can also record notes, which means you can put notes on the FX track to send out via midi to sequence something else and leave the other tracks free. More compact than the MKII. Anyway.... CZ-101 looks awesome, I want to replace my CZ-1000 with a 101, more compact, less membrane :)
Oh great! Templo stuff is awesome. The CZ-101 is an excellent size, I just wish it had an internal battery for presets. The Analog 4 sounds powerful, for sure. Maybe I'll try one someday
Haha, I can relate. I first sold Circuit tracks and bought Ableton Move. Then I returned Move and got Circuit Rhythm. I didn’t like its mono samples so I sold it and bought move again. Then I sold Move due to lack of use as I always gravitate towards my iOS suitcase based rig that can do so much more. I do realise it borders on mental disorder but I think for many people the buying of new stuff is a dopamine hit. I reckon as long as one keeps selling things on it’s ok. Not so great for the planet with all the shipping going on though.
Ha. I've been there for sure. I really only use my Deluge and guitar most of the time, but can't resist trying new things for a good deal (the dopamine hit of new gear is very real). I always forget about the Rhythm's samples being mono only, which sucks, but I still get lost in the fun of the workflow, so it has stuck around...for now
The Pluto was my first toe dip into eurorack. I eventually took the plunge, though I'm aware it's not for everyone and is a big commitment. The Pluto remains the heart of my setup though, and will probably as long as I have a system. It's well thought out enough to stand on it's own, but the 5 moon outputs and how they can be changed in relation to each other is a powerful tool. All the best parts of eurorack, in a battery powered and super portable stand alone setup with some lush fx; what's not to love. Enjoy!
Interesting that you went with the Rhythm. I love my Circut Tracks, never could jive with the Rhythm. The hunt continues for the sampler that works for me.
To be fair, I only bought it because they were blowing them out for cheaper than a Volca. At that price it's great value, but wouldn't have bothered at full price. Curious about the Tracks, but not enough to grab one so far
@@BayMud I love my Circut Tracks. I got a Deluge a while back to "upgrade" and replace the Rhythm and Tracks combo, but ended up keeping the tracks. Its very much like a stripped down Deluge, but the immediacy of the workflow live in the tracks is *chefs kiss
Honestly, I found the Circuit workflow to he like a simplified version of the Elektron workflow. Love my Digitakt and Digitone, but my Circuit tracks is slated to be sold as soon as I finish scraping song starts off it.
@ That was definitely my experience. Circuit is a bit faster to learn, but Elektron boxes are way more flexible and powerful. Being able to multitrack over USB via Overbridge into a DAW for a final mix / master is also a huge plus for me. The last few weeks, I’ve been playing around using Deluge to sequence Digitone, and absolutely loving that combo.
The idea that someone selling a piece of gear would be controversial is mind boggling to me. Very nice summary - it's always interesting to hear reasoning what leads to gear decisions.
I felt the exact same thing with the Minilogue XD module. It’s an awkward size and the faceplate made it take up unnecessary desk space. It would be awesome if it was 19” rack size like their older synths. ✌️😅
Check out the Elektron Model:Cycles groovebox! It's so easy to use that even I can use it! I got mine cheap for about $200 and couldn't be happier with how much of a powerhouse it is! Very versatile too. It can do anything from ambient drones to complex IDM beats. I've read that it's a great introduction to the Elektron workflow but the menu is too shallow for me to believe that. The Model:Cycles is one of the easiest grooveboxes I've ever used and I started with the MC 303 in 1998. Bad example as that particular groovebox is a pain to sequence compared to the Cycles, but it was the first to be marketed as a groovebox so that's why I mentioned it. I've had my hands on a few of these things over the years to say the least so I feel experienced enough to make this assessment of the Cycles. It has its limits but if you're thinking about owning something from Elektron because you've heard all the good things but you want to avoid the one bad thing, the workflow, the Model:Cycles has you covered.
@@BayMud I actually have one that I want to sell. I bought it used summer 2024. It's a really cool bit of gear. I even bought an Oversynth overlay for it. I'll definitely talk to you about a deal on the cycles if you are interested. I also have an SP 404 mk2 that I'm looking to sell. Bought that one January 2024. I've just come to the realization that groove boxes aren't my thing.
Thanks! I find these days most of my deals are made on Facebook Marketplace or through local dedicated gear groups on Facebook. Though still Kijiji on occasion too. Best of luck!
I only buy....NEVER sell gear. All because we had a CS80 from new and sold it stupid cheap end 80's.....Since then I decided to NEVER sell a piece of gear again.
I'm not sure I have the space for that policy. Ha. I try to hang on to the stuff I know I would have a hard time replacing for a reasonable price, but the rest has to earn its place
There’s a good home for everything out there. Thanks for sharing.
I believe it! Thanks for watching

@@skinzelectronicjams that's good to know! I do love the Circuit workflow

That's interesting to know! I mostly use my Deluge for big stuff, but do enjoy the Circuit workflow, so maybe I would like Elektron too?

@nsiivola Thanks! Everyone has been positive so far. It's all very subjective anyway and we all have different needs/workflows

@kitespongan 100%! Lots of potential, just couldn't justify keeping it around at that size
Nothing quite like a good gear purge 😂
Happy new year man!
Thanks! You too
Great video, always interesting to see the journey others are on 🙌
Thanks! Yeah, it's so subjective and all our workflows are different, so hopefully this is interesting for other gear enthusiasts. Ha

I’m surprised how many happy accidents and bangers I’ve made on my rhythm.

Been sitting in the box for years apparently. Happy to give it a loving home. Ha
