The R8 Jammer Arms, made by Germany's 'atletica,' offer the same functionality at half the price of this product. In fact, they have even addressed the issue with the integrated handle that 'Kaizendiy' pointed out. It seems that in Germany, several companies are already producing jammer arms in this form. Since I live in Korea, the shipping costs are similar for both, so I chose the R8 Jammer Arms.
I bought a pair and got it late last month, I had some quality control issues and spoke to the owner of the company, he obviously made it right with me and we spoke about other things, but one thing I did ask him was why don't you make another attachment that could be a separate purchase that would be a trolley system with rollers. I added it would be fairly easy I thought because we could keep the arms as there are two screws that keep the arms to the actual uhmw plastic trolley that can disconnect it. Meaning that he could make a separate trolly with rollers and we could just put the lever arms on it. His response to that was, most the weight is the trolly and so is the manufacturing and cost. While I understand from his point of view I think many including myself would still live to have a separate purchasable option that could have the trolly with wheels. And to Mr crandall if you see this comment thank you for your business I love the arms there just a pain to adjust!
To be honest with the new Rep Ares 2.0 a simple and cool hack that could be used on any lever arm is to simply attach the cables that comes from the bottom on the ARES 2.0 to the lever arm with a carabiner. this way you can use the lever arm with continuous tension profile using both the benefits from the stability of the lever arm and the weight stacks from the functional trainer. I can't try it at home since I don't have the Ares 2.0 but I would be happy to see you try and get a feedback on this hack. Thanks for your video !
These get closer than dumbbells because you can touch your knuckles together instead of the dumbbell heads being the closest position, also you can use cables or bands to add different resistance angles. We have videos on that of that stuff
Same I almost bought the prx a few weeks ago and heard the rumors of rep adding a new set to the ares 2.0 and now Im waiting to see if thats true and if its worth it.
Looking forward to the collab jammer arms that Kaizen is working on. He reviews all of the latest arms in his recent video and seems to address their limitations in what he's designing.
The megalith handles could help with the handles hitting each other too since they’re a smaller profile. Great review and thanks for the shoutout. There’s a ton of potential here (especially turning these into a free motion function trainer) 😉
I never understood the handles hitting each other complaint when you can't get any closer than #1 your knuckles and if you want the arms closer together, just rotate the handles 90 degrees and use them with the plate horns vertical
Not sure I agree with this bought cheap ones on Amazon to try and they can feel like hammer strength equipment. Problem is they are too heavy, often can't come off rack, hard to store, most can't lock in or move side to side. Build them removable and with a storage piece that maybe hangs on back side of rack with up/down and side to side locking, make them compatible with cable systems AND have killer grips like the one Coop recommends or Mutant Metals and people would use them and love them. I bought quantum trainer due to limitations all jammers have. It's nice for rest pause and drop set training to have them locked at lowest point of lift. Great for bodybuilding type workouts.
@@chrisdonnell2575been looking at the quantum trainer too since having a leverage system seems like a great addition. What exercises do you like to do on it?
Yeah, they keep teasing their ISO Arms 2.0 but won't confirm until they're officially available. The plans are to make it compatible with their Ares 2.0 which makes sense to build out their ecosystem.
I get wanting to have jammer arms that mimic machines but these seem really good for hypertrophy training, the ability to have a dead stop deep into a stretch like that is awesome. Plus the versatility for a home gym is undeniable, so many exercise variations that can be done with these. I think you were a little harsh with this review to be frank.
Yeah everybody thinks they would use them. But they don’t do anything you can’t already do with a barbell or dumbbells. They are a product made to sell you the idea that they are really useful but theirs a reason so many people talk about regretting buying hammer arms cause they aren’t worth it
@BigSexyWizard disagree, yiu ad bands or a pulley system cable and you have resistance the whole range of motion. DBs stop once you get side to aide going on flys for example
So close to buying them but I agree too heavy. I went with Quantum trainer out of UK full lever gym can do over 50 hammer strength like workouts and this way lever arms don't mess with rack's cable system. Best of both worlds. These I believe are 70+ lbs each! The handles are about 20 of that.
Have you seen the Maxum SX2? Its a similar idea with the full articulating arms (with swivel), but on the functional trainer portions. Would love to see a review, because I haven't seen almost any coverage aside form the FB group.
Coop any chance you can check out the Gear For Fit Freestanding Leg Extension/Curl Attachment? Seems like a unique piece that should work with most benches and is actually designed with an angled plate peg to have resistance at the start of the movement! They also have a Freestanding belt squat that's new and seems cool.
Been waiting for this one for a LONG time. Thanks Coop! Unfortunately you talked me out of them. I love the swivel, but mostly for converging presses. And since, as you stated, there aren't enough holes to really do that functionality justice, it renders them obsolete in my mind. Pair that with the fact that it doesn't have rollers and yeah, it misses the mark too much for me.
Extremely beneficial product for home gym. Not a fan of jammer arms for commercial gyms, can be dangerous/ problematic. We've all seen those "gym fails" videos 😅😅😅
You need to review my two favorite All In One Trainers of all time. I realize that everyone has their own preferences and opinions, but a lot of All In Ones that you seem to like are not my favorite at all. Me being a life long crazy fitness fanatic and ex-personal trainer I also know what I like. For the money, the Force USA G3 is probably the best plate loadable All In One for the price over all! But since I now want a weight stack loaded All In One, the 2 Best for the money are; Number One: The Force USA Newly Updated G12 (which includes a leg press plate, J Hooks, Spotter Arms, Landmine attachment & handle, various bars & nylon straps, ankle strap, dip bar, pulldown rope, lat pulldown knee holder, rowing foot plate, 1 to 1 ratio so you can use the entire dual 220 lb weight stacks, and doesn't take up a lot of space compared to equally equipped competitors. They also offer Jammer Arms & the Leg Extension/Leg Curl accessories as an option.) Number Two: the GET RX'D - RX3 TORNADO SMITH MACHINE RACK (It's missing the leg press plate, leg extension & leg curl features, but it has some other advantages. Its patented pulley system looks like it works like built-in Jammer Arms). Please review these two.
someone needs to invent a lil tank track style crawler that fits in the back of the trolley with the tank tracks having 1" nubbins that fall directly into the rack holes, these tracks could live one a couple spindles that are geared to a lil ratchet handle. This would enable you to adjust the trolleys up and down by winding the handle until its in place. Youd then pin to lock. Alternatively you could counterweight the trolley and arm weight but thats constantly gonna change if youre adjusting with a plate on.
Coop mentioned the handles being really heavy - you could separate the weight horn from the handles. Have a single weight horn that bolts 90 degrees to the handle, which could be made much simpler. It's fewer grip options but you could create a couple of choices there.
@stevemontgomery9966 i also tell people to just rotate the handle on thr arm and then you can load them vertically and get a better squeeze. However, once your hands touch it is hard to get any more squeeze than that, ha hq
I spoke with you over the phone late lastonth about some quality control things but I also mentioned that you could possibly build a separate purchasable trolly system with rollers, I added on to tell you that you wouldn't even need the arms or handles just the trolly because there are those two bolts that hold it together and could separate the two things. Therefore we just take the jammer arm off the trolly and reinstall in onto another trolly. I would kill to see you guys do this, I know you said it's most of the cost but man I promise you your missing out because this would be a hit and game changer. I'm working on a prototype right now for it. Please feel free to chat with me as I believe you have my number.
A lack of rollers was the dealbreaker for me. I'm guessing you've seen Kaizen's video last month where he critiqued multiple jammer arms including yours. He makes some good points. Guessing it's a race between what you can improve on vs. what's coming out from REP and Kaizen's collab project.
Every company doing this is getting almost there and messing up one or two things that make the product a deal breaker. Why is this so hard when the issues seem pretty obvious
Check out Kaizen's recent video on reviews of popular jammer arms where he discusses the limitations of each and the new project he's working on to address them
@3:24 definitely conversion going on. You don't normally see coop having a little bit of difficulty but at this moment you can see his shoulders are all wonky. Too much conversion IMO LOL
I’ve always believed jammer arms had huge potential. Especially for someone like myself who trains body building and wanted a compact way to replicate some hammer strength machines. They’ve made improvements like the ability to lock and the ability to converge but there’s not a pair that does everything right for a good price point imo. Jammers shouldn’t be $800 and that shouldn’t be the “budget” option.
Coop Idk if you've tried this but you can probably make adjusting these a bit easier. Just lock them in the vertical position and then use the handles to deadlift them up. That way the knurled handle works as intended as well. Pulling them up should be easier than pushing them up. Also try using them on a wider rack. That might alleviate some of the convergence issues.
I don’t think they have a patent. It’s just Chinese factory stuff. Had the exact same jammer arms from atletica over in Europe. They already have v2 out with the round plate ;) by the way it’s like half the price in Europe 😅
I had the Crandall free motion arms for a few months then sold them for a big loss. I liked them better than dumbells for chest pressing exercises. But the lack of a trolley was a deal killer. No way in hell to do a full upper body workout with these. Adjusting them once or twice is a big pain in the arse. Adjusting them for more than two exercises in one workout is a death knell.
I wonder what the details of the patent are. I don't feel you should be able to patent "it turns and you can stick a hitch pin in to stop it from turning".
If they converge there is not much reason to have those giant wheelchair access handlebars. Put a dual angle handle that adjusts up and down. They also need to consider a tubing design at a 3rd the weight. Who starts flies at 70lbs?
The pricing of homegym equipment has become ridiculous. 850USD for jammer arms is cheap now? For this price a bought a rack, barbell and weights when I started my homegym.
if this splurge with steel continues, the government will impose restrictions on suppliers for irresponsible waste of resources 😂. Every home gym has at least 4000 pounds of steel😅
I own these jammer arms. They're great. I have them in my rack and use them for converging chest presses. I replaced the jammer grips with cheap, simple handle grips.
$849.99 sale price for lever arms? Exercise equipment is getting ridiculously expensive. There is actually a power rack being sold on Rogue Fitness for $9,995. I can afford to buy it, but I don't see why I want to. Tommy Kono, "the Greatest American Olympic Weightlifter of All-Time", won 2 Olympic weightlifting gold medals, set 26 world records, and was a 4-time Mr. Universe bodybuilding contest winner despite only having a modest home basement gym with just an Olympic barbell, Olympic weight plates, and DIY wood squat stands. More reviews should be done on affordable exercise equipment, especially since Donald Trump, who is likely to win the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, has vowed to raise the tariff on all Chinese goods by 60% and on all other global imports, which will adversely affect Bells of Steel, Eleiko, and Pepin, by 10 to 20%. Thus, the prices of exercise equipment will foreseeably increase significantly after Inauguration Day, 2025 (January 20, 2025).
@@exodia_exodia There are far cheaper swivel jammer arms on Temu, like the Kipika Adjustable Lever Arms, which has multiple listings. I've seen one pair for sale for a little over $100.
“This one is THE BEST. Except, um, it has all the same limitations that all the others have…” - heavy to move, handles are too heavy, crummy strength curve, adjustability actually sucks. He even says he wouldn’t use them in his home gym. Face it, no matter what you do to these things, they’re a waste of time and money.
I don't understand why coop talks about converging. They just swivel freely and don't have a converging path, like all the other versions too. Perhaps I am just too stupid to see the difference. True converging arms would need a way to rotate the axle on the upright.
Not true. When not locked in they converge perfectly and becaise they don't have a locked path, they will be perfect no matter how your body is built. Tall or short, longs or short arms. The best for EVERY lifter as they mold to your natural movement
@@crandallfitness what is not true? You just confirmed my comment! They just swing around like the others. If I want a free movement I can take dumbbells, in your logic they should be superior cause they move even more freely!
@Markinator83 all i can day to the dumbbell comments when i hear them is, you have to try them to see the difference. No amount of expalining will justify it until you feel the difference. But everyone has their own opinion ans thats cool with us. We sell tons of these and havent ever had a pair returned or a complaint, so i guess they are decent. Ha
@@crandallfitness why don’t you just tell me what isn‘t true about my first comment? I just mentioned the dumbbells because you said that not having a locked path is perfect, as you can move natural. When this is your point, dumbbells should be the best. That is not MY opinion, YOU wrote that. There is a reason why special machines have fixed paths, to say it is superior in general to wiggle around is just stupid, it all depends on the goal. Your Jammer Arms sit right in the middle between dumbbells and a machine with fixed path. None of the three is the best, it all depends.
@Markinator83 they are better because unlike fixed path machines they fit to every body type, they are better than dumbbells because you can lock them in or use the free motion setting, or use cables attached or bands attached which you cant do with dumbbells or commercial machines.
patent laws in the US are really funny and even pathetic. Most patents are conversions of existing solutions. if I connect a refrigerator to a TV, did I invent a new thing? I invented an application or connection, the patent may concern the refrigerator or TV itself. This solution has existed in personal trainers for decades. Converting it to jammers does not make them new in any way. these arms are owned by the German Athletica, they are a regular OEM bought in China. They were definitely in Athletica first because they appeared at least a year ago. This is nothing new.
Cool free motion arms, but I still don't see the point. They're heavy, they're in the way when you don't need them, and they fill a non-existent gap in a gym. The only gap they might fill is fixed plane movements that can't be duplicated with a barbell. But, why? And, for those seeking hypertrophy...even though "convergence" feels cool, according to Dr. Milo's video from yesterday, that portion of the movement's range of motion "likely does very little for growing the pecs, since your pecs are in the most shortened position" (see th-cam.com/video/vaZPW37CROc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=a7DTiggi63l-U7LR&t=549).
@crandallfitness Hey, you guys are great, and I'm so happy you're part of the gym equipment industry! I was probably a bit harsh with my statements on rack-attached arms. No doubt, many will find a lot of benefit from them. They just don't fit with how I like to train. I just saw the article you guys posted on 19 effective exercises for the free motion arms, and no doubt, many of those will benefit people. Keep at it, guys!
@@crandallfitness I feel you. I've owned a smaller company in a different space, and it took years of lower margins, cash flow headaches, innovation, good supplier relationships & agreements, and good timing to carve out a nice piece of the pie against some of the bigger competitors. My advice (even though you don't know me from Adam) is get your supplier on board with more favorable payment terms, then innovate with a couple high-demand smaller items that won't kill your cash flow to produce (sure, you'll still have R&D and mold costs). Run the idea by people with gym and design/engineering experience. Then, market the heck out of those items to acquire more brand recognition. Or, if you get a big financial backer, do the same with a larger product (the recent Freak Athlete is a good example of this).

The pricing of homegym equipment has become ridiculous. 850USD for jammer arms is cheap now? For this price a bought a rack, barbell and weights when I started my homegym.
Agreed
In Europe these things are basically unavailable, makes me wonder why
Because you can't use google. 😅
They should make the arm shorter, or at least have an option. It would drop the weight and allow for more convergence.
🔥
if this splurge with steel continues, the government will impose restrictions on suppliers for irresponsible waste of resources 😂. Every home gym has at least 4000 pounds of steel😅
Anything other than PrX... boycott forever... O'Leary can
I own these jammer arms. They're great. I have them in my rack and use them for converging chest presses. I replaced the jammer grips with cheap, simple handle grips.
I want to DIY something myself
Love the positives but man, with no rollers at that weight it's a pass for me.
You are a true American hero
@@exodia_exodia There are far cheaper swivel jammer arms on Temu, like the Kipika Adjustable Lever Arms, which has multiple listings. I've seen one pair for sale for a little over $100.
I can't believe people are still buying jammer arms.
Being too heavy is a deal breaker. Too much home gym stuff is overbuilt. It's immature design.
Stop trying to make fetch happen, it’s not going to happen
Verticle. No, the word is 'vertical.'
Ohh shit. We heating up
patent laws in the US are really funny and even pathetic.
You can have unlimited options for exercises but that obviously doesn't equal results.
Ouch...i kind of like my results..😂😂
No trolley system on a jammer arm in 2024? Hard pass!
yet another company that doesnt ship to canada
Im sorry, we are small ans its a huge pain with your government import rules
Wtf is the point of jammer arms?
I use them for body building and bands can always be attached
@crandallfitness Hey, you guys are great, and I'm so happy you're part of the gym equipment industry! I was probably a bit harsh with my statements on rack-attached arms. No doubt, many will find a lot of benefit from them. They just don't fit with how I like to train. I just saw the article you guys posted on 19 effective exercises for the free motion arms, and no doubt, many of those will benefit people. Keep at it, guys!
@joethomas-official we appreciate it. As a small company it's hard to keep up with the jones (rogue, rep, BOS, titan, fringe etc)
At a certain point..... Just go to the gym.
i think you've stumbled into the wrong youtube channel, this is GARAGE GYM REVIEWS
I don't want to..😂😂😂
If your at the point of considering jammer arms...well then ..its time to join a gym
Spoken like a true noob.
What for useless crap is that? I really don’t get it why someone should buy jammer arms 😂
Firrrrrst
Jammer arms are a highly functional piece of equipment that offer little to no function.
😮
