    My son wants to be the Punisher (Netflix era) so I’m thinking a kids button up vest from the thrift store, & glue on some black yoga mat to make the armor, first time trying this but it sounds like it sound work. But I’m wondering if the glue you used will work for my project? Anyone with input, would be greatly appreciated

    • @CarGy69ZL1
      @CarGy69ZL1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just using EVA foam for the first time right now… let me tell you, once you have the panels cut out, it instantly looks cool. So I don’t think you could go wrong even doing it the way you describe. But I will say that the HD Foam from SKS props is much cheaper than anything else I could find and it is SO easy to work with. I traced the templates onto poster board first to play with sizing, and working with the foam is much easier than that. So I honestly think it would be easier to stick with using a sheet of foam as the base, to be completely honest. Even if you didn’t round the edges, left some parts out (like Part B, which does add some great dimension if you include it), and simplified some things, I think you could make something really cool for $50 and a day’s worth of work. I’m sure with some tweaking, your idea could work too!
      As for glue… I just used contact cement last night for the first time and the name applies because it really does cement on first contact! The $3 tiny bottle at Michael’s would be WAY more than you’d need. I would think it would work fine for fabric, although e6000 seems to work great on everything if for some reason it doesn’t.
      I’m by no means an expert on any of this but given my own struggles starting and the comfort of knowing the foam makes everything SO much easier, I figured I would chime in. Hope this helps!

    Okay... question. PLA prints are not always practical. In theory high density or ultra high density foam would be a better more durable option in reality. Yes or no? I mean... a Batman suit in PLA can take 5 months to print without 3-4 machines. I have seen guys finish incredible things with foam in a months time with no stress. Suit of armor in a week. Perfectly scaled and no fuss.

      Watch my how to print video and in the pdf print options you can scale down the template. As far as how small for a 4 year old you’ll just have to drop the percentage and print it out to see by how much I’d say at least 40% but if you do please post let the chat know

    hi SKS Props
    I wanted to ask you a question.
    I see that both in the video and in the pdf, you express yourself in millimeters (mm).
    I wanted to know, the conversion in centimeters (cm) of how much it was, because I can not understand.
    A thousand thanks.

    • @SKSProps
      @SKSProps  ปีที่แล้ว

      the mm just refers to the thichkness of the foam and almost all companies reagardless of location around the world will have it in mm not cm. so 10mm is approx 1/2" 6mm approx 1/4" etc

    • @SKSProps
      @SKSProps  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Make sure you are constantly sharpening your knife after every few cuts. Foam dulls the blade very quickly so I use a kershaw knife sharpener all of the time. High density just means that it’s less porous, not a harder foam. Low density foam dulls the blades even quicker

    I know I’m way behind on this video but I’m using this chest armor as a base for my OC Mandalorian armor. With a bit of fabrication of course. It will actually be my first EVA foam build. Going to be buying some of your HD foam as well, bc I didn’t know you sold it 😂 Just wanted to share. 👍 Thanks Steve

Would share with you but I avoid ALL social media 😂 Nevertheless I’ve caught the love of foam crafting, I’ve bought more of your hd foam then I probably should have but it’s been a blast to make your hats, shield, and other for my other children. About to start learning your foam clay. Thanks again Steve. Learning to make my own templates and custom designs for crafting. If I have any success I’ll send them your way. 🫡👍

    If I were to buy 1 roll of each the 10 mil, 6 mil, 4 mil would that give me enough for this entire build?

    • @SKSProps
      @SKSProps  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, with plenty left over.
      I would personally get the cosplay bundle 2,6,10 then a roll of 4 the bundle is cheaper and you can always use 2mm for details and attachments 👍
