I've listened to 3 or 4 people on TH-cam explain this. However, they never fully explained the brine system....they just glossed over it. This video explained it a lot better. THANK YOU!!!
How is the solution drawn out of the brine tank? Is it via a venturi? How does a system under pressure draw solution into it ? Thanks in advance, I have been wondering about this for years.
Thank you for very nice and explanatory animation. How long should be each cycle (backwash, brine, rinse and fill)? I have a 20L resin and 40 French degree water hardness. Thanks.
Thank you for your comment. Can you please email us at h2omktg@aosmith.com? We'd like to get you connected with someone who can answer questions specific to your system.
It is definitely best to speak with your doctor if you have health complications that could be aggravated by sodium. If all sodium should be avoided and you still wanted a water softener, we recommend pairing it with a reverse osmosis drinking water filter. That way your water heater, dishwasher, plumbing, etc. are all still protected from hard water scale buildup and the water you and your husband drink has the sodium released by your softener filtered out.
How much water does the system use? Once the Regen occurs, the water is very very very salty. Also, my well doesnt have any water left once the Regen is done. Why does it take up soooo much more water than other systems? Thank you
Hi Abraham, where are you located? If it's using a lot of salt and a lot of water, it sounds like your settings may not be set up correctly. We can get you in touch with the local dealer in your area to come take a look at the system to make sure it is adjusted properly for your usage.
@@evolve8534 I live in brewster NY; Does it normally take 3 to 4 hours for the entire Regen? I feel like its pumping alot of my water from the well. Does that make sense? They put the Evolve water softner in April 2020. Everytime regen occur, I have no water next day to take shower. Thank you again for the prompt reply.
@@abrahamkuruvilla1987 The whole process will take a couple hours from start to end, but it isn't drawing in water that whole time. It'll bring in water into the brine tank and then it'll sit and do nothing for an hour to wait for it to dissolve the salt, and then send that salt water into the media tank in another cycle, before rinsing with more raw water. So it sounds like it's doing something for a long time, but it's not always using new water that whole time. Part of what the install should be checking though is if the well can produce at a rate to keep up with what that softener needs. There's not too much we can walk you through without being on site. We will bring your concerns up to your dealer to let them know you're having issues.
The amount sodium exchanged and released into the water will depend on how hard the water is to begin with. Slightly hard water will have lower amounts than extremely hard water. Even in some of the worst hard water areas, the amount of sodium that would be found in the water you drink on a daily basis would be significantly less than what many common foods contain so the average person usually doesn't need to worry about any health concerns. We agree the water you drink should be the best possible kind! So we recommend pairing a water softener with a reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water system. If you are on a sodium-restricted diet so even small amounts should be avoided, an RO would filter the sodium and many other contaminants a water softener isn't capable of removing. That way your entire home can benefit from the protection a water softener brings, and any water you and your family drink goes through that extra purification step to keep you happy and healthy.
You certainly can install just a filter to reduce the concerns your well water might have instead of using a water softener. The only thing to keep in mind is the hard water scale buildup that can clog faucets and pipes can also clog your filters very quickly, so you may end up having to replace them often as a result which can be very expensive in the long run.

Thanks for reaching out! In that case it is probably indicating there was a failed regeneration and it's not sure why. It could be a plugged injector that is preventing the brine water to enter into the system. There are a few other possibilities to could be as well. You'll want to call your local dealer to check it out. They'll be able to diagnose it a lot better if they can see the unit.
Yup, we just moved into a house that already has a water softener installed and the only thing you should be needing to do is make sure there’s salt in the tank. Now you want to fill it about 75% full and then wait until it gets all the way down to 20 to 30% full, and then fill it back up with salt again. Also make sure you don’t let it get completely empty of salt otherwise you’ll have to do some cleaning with iron out brand solution

Why pump needs to be on during regeneration?
Would low or no salt cause excess water usage ?
Does this work on Iron?
do you need the salt water filter . My husband has heart problems and high blood pressure
