I bought my family house. I told my husband, when he got "yard proud"...You can have the front yard, but not the back. I want my clover, and such, and our bugs! (We have other ways to take care of certain beetles) Keeping it as wild as we can, within village ordinance.
Thank you! Every time i watch your videos, i learn something new. I have 2 pairs of bluebirds visiting. Never seen bluebirds here before. They perch on the house when i mow the lawn low and will fly down to pick up a bug. So i put out some new feeders for them with bluebird nuggets and mealworms. And have some sunflower chips nearby. But I've never seen them eating from the feeders. The feeders are hung in a dogwood tree and the bluebirds hang out around that tree. Now i know why they're in the dogwood tree. I'll fertilize the dogwood and put in some irrigation instead.
@@MarksBackyardBirds Ah ok good to know. Just like the Carolina Wrens i have around. They glue themselves to the suet in the winter, but could care less about it in the summer. Thank you again!
Great idea for a video! I see bluebirds but not all that often, for the reasons you describe. It is sad. As a side-note, I would enjoy for a future program if you would do the Common Nighthawk. I have them over my house pretty much daily and I get a kick out of them. Cool, underrated bird.
Hi @CodyH88 I found where I talked about them in the June 24 Wild Bird Update th-cam.com/users/livenG3XFIL7i4s. You can skip to 34:57 in the video and get the Common Nighthawk part.

@@eric3434 they will eat the nuggets and sunflower kernel more in cold weather when bugs a harder to find.

@@CodyH88 I love nighthawks. Great idea for a species profile.
@@MarksBackyardBirds They're seasonal here in NW Ohio but they sure are entertaining lol. Thanks!

Do falcons have a high rate of window crashes?
I wouldn't say a high rate due to their open country or wetland nature but we have lost them in urban setting to windows.
