Beautiful! I am so happy that the Esterbrook brand was brought back to life after a long time of being dormant. I am proud of my home city's connection to Esterbrook. Back in the mid-1800s, Richard Esterbrook, an English Quaker, brought over skilled pen makers from Birmingham in the UK to America to help him build his pen making business.
Met the Esterbrook show guy, and it's line-up, at the Commonwealth Pen Show this year. Top-notch in all respects and they looked like they did very well at the show.
I got mine a couple of days ago, and haven't been able to put it down. Alternatly they could have put this out as the "Santa" pen as well. I do love it as the King of the night, because it has that vibe as well. The pen is so beautiful. I can't get over how much it sparkles in the light. I paired mine with Dominant Industry Christmas Red the Red and the Shimmer match it very well. I also was looking at Robert Oster Blood Moon, that would work as well. This by far is my favorite Esterbook so far. (This is my 6th)
This really is such a gorgeous pen, probably my favourite resin EVER, the fact that it is vampire themed makes it even better! The price really is a stake to the heart though...out of my budget. Great video as always, loved the ink pairing!
I always thought "B-Movie" came from the idea that B-Movie's were part of a double feature and tacked on to a main feature that you were actually going out to see. The "A-Movie", if you will.
Brilliant pen and overall package. Esterbrook have really been on a hot streak of late with their releases. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the design of this one. Thanks for the review.
Not by a long shot. I still think the Esterbrook Estie Scarlet is the best one, yet. I own the oversized Scarlet. My favorite, by far. The Sunflower comes second. I have that, too. 🙂
I have one ordered. The pen is a standout and the pouch is a nice touch. I would prefer a bottle of ink, the way Monteverde include inks with their special releases.
Love the sleeve design since I love both bats AND rays! I ordered one in EF since all nib sizes are already sold out on the official Esterbrook site hinting that they’re going fast.
You'll have to do a lil review of the new Nosferatu film when you see it. I can't wait for it. Robert Eggers is one of the best currently working directors.
Klaus Kinski's Nosferatu the Vampire will be hard to surpass as modern remake. And regarding the elevator encounter, how embarrassing! Sometimes I wish I was not a US-born citizen.
The resin looks like Metallica's Load and Reload covers and well, if you know, you know. Overall it is once again a great execution of a nice theme, something Esterbrook does better than anyone else, in my opinion. They always go above and beyond to theme every aspect of the product. I still think the prices are on the really, really high end for what the pens are tho. Especially with a generic Jowo nib that isn't even custom stamped, but rather just cheaply laser engraved..
I agree about the pricing. I’ve always felt and said the same. The pens are excellently made, though. But all things considered, the prices are unfairly steep. And the pen reviewed is just ridiculously priced. Esterbrook, like a few others, have gotten rather too greedy lately with the over-the-top prices they charge.
Your story would have been even better if you said: “I looked back, ready to chuckle, only to be silenced by the fact that the canine teeth of the attendant were rather prominent.” :)
The "Esterbrook" brand name purchased by Joel Bloomberg has successfully managed to have Figboot and other TH-cam reviewers compare his purchased brand name pens to fountain pens like Montblanc, Delta, and Sailor. At +US$300 that is not only astonishing, but also preposterous.
I don't understand the price differences between all these brands that use Jowo/Bock nibs. The exterior/filling method is different obviously but the price differences for these nib pens... is outrageous. I mean does the Estie write way better than the Twsbi to cost at least 3 times the price? There are so many pens that has Jowo with ones from 40 to few hundred. Also what is the appeal for 100 dollar plus steel nib pens? Is that not gold nib territory?
Cool theme and I like the included cape, but the pen is underwhelming to me. I think they could have done more with the theme. Not sure about the gold accents, black would have looked better IMHO. Esterbrooks are too expensive for what you get, unless you’re into the little gimmicky things they included in the special editions. So I’m going to pass on this one.
"Maybe a period there...'Movie' there twice just feels a bit repetitive."
You've made this old English teacher's heart so glad, David.
And, ETA, I feel reasonably confident that "B-horror movie" would be the way to go.
Also also, "Sunk your nib"?
I think this is wonderful, brilliantly executed.

This is a beautiful pen. The theme and presentation of this edition, and the resin used in the pen make a great combination. I love it!
Over here B movies were second feature.
Yes, we used to watch movies in pairs.

Awesome pen! I am a fan of the Estie and this is another beautiful addition. I agree that it is great when pens come with extra cool stuff!
Shout out to that guy who thought the vampires were real. That's so iconic. I wonder what else he believes in.
When closed, the pen case also resembles a fountain pen nib.
Beautiful pen! Very unique packaging and extras.
Actually, when you said the name of the ink, “Good Evening”, I heard it in Bella Lugosi’s Dracula Transylvania accent!
It's what Hitchcock used to say at the beginning of each of his TV show episodes.
Looks like a gorgeous resin. Would have liked to have seen a specially engraved nib at a $315 price. A bat or fangs perhaps.
Brilliant pen and overall package. Esterbrook have really been on a hot streak of late with their releases. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the design of this one. Thanks for the review.

Great elevator anecdote.
Yes, I enjoyed that.

I have lots of pens that look like their Black Album cover. 🤣

Loved the elevator story -- it would be even better if you added to the knowing smile..."but he had rather long canine teeth..."!
Your story would have been even better if you said: “I looked back, ready to chuckle, only to be silenced by the fact that the canine teeth of the attendant were rather prominent.” :)
or..."I looked back and could see the attendant...but he was mysteriously absent from the mirrored back of the elevator".

Agree. Stainless steel Jowo nibs for $315. Hard pass.
Check the thumbnail again. EsterbRook.

Is the pen made in China?
Why would anyone want to be inspired by vampires and ghoulish elements when you write?
Esterbrook Pen design is classic and definitely excellent.
