Thanks Winters for hosting (putting up with) myself and Monkey. It was great fun throwing the old enemies against each other. I'm sure many rules were muddled and forgotten, but this was a blast.
Now those are some PROPER oldschool armies - beautiful! Thanks to all for bringing the Old World to the channel, I am looking forward to much more of this. :)
This was a lovely battle report with great terrain and miniatures. There were lots of mistakes but everyone is still learning ToW so that is to be expected. Interested to watch the next report!
Just a little missed point on turn 2. Stand and shoots count for combat rest so with the wound caused by the rangers they actually beat the wild rider in combat. It's why dwarf shooting is so strong. They can restrain from following up and then shoot him down next turn. Great report, love the lower points levels and looking forward to the next game!
Rangers do seem fearsome shots for Dwarfs, and I'd missed the stand and shoot combat res, thank you. I'm enjoying learning the game at 1,000 pts too. Feels like enough to get started.
Fantastic as always! More Old World please. Its the game that first got me into warhammer back in the early 90s, but also the game I never actually got to play a proper game of.
I’m excited. I love seeing your 40K battle reports the most but seeing Fantasy/The Old World here too. I admit. it’s probably because in the 3 settings GW makes I like them in this order: Fantasy then 40K/30K then AoS.
This everything I want from a Winters. If this channel became nothing but Heresy and Old World, you would hear no complaints from me. And always tremendous to see Stylus and Monkey throw down.
Nice batrep. One thing I noticed. When the dryads lost combat to the flame cannon they should have given ground. This the flame cannon could have fired its gun
That takes me back a decade or so. What a game... Honestly, not sure I want to go back and play it despite having 6 10,000 point armies in my shed (should really get to selling them...), but the nostalgia was great. Glad to see that its the same game at the coreand glad that people have a reignited interest in it. Think I'll stick to watching whatever batreps you do with it though.
I thought those thunderers were done for then they pulled a rabbit out of the hat XD XD Really cool to see how you can use a fast-moving skirmisher-unit to tie up heavy infantry without even fighting them tho! Some real interesting tactical possibilities in Old World :3
War Dancers, "We have trained for years for this moment, and have taken the finest performance enhancing mushroom. Prepare to die!" Thunderers, "Okay, lads, double load forks and gravel. Don't shoot until you can see the insane rolling of their eyes... steady... steady..."
Poison is on the to hit roll by the way, not to wound. So if you roll a 6 to hit it wounds (note if you need 6's then roll again to hit due to modifiers it can not poison), but that means you can never use armour bane if they are poisoned hits as armour bane is on the to wound roll. Fun video, would love to see more :D
I think you’re thinking of the old rules for standards. Breaking in combat is no longer a requirement. You capture a standard by running down a fleeing unit (no matter the circumstances) or by destroying them in combat. The unit counts as destroyed even if attached characters are still standing (all characters immediately become their own separate units).
Love seeing ToW on my favorite batrep channel. One key point - stand and shoot casualties count against combat resolution so the Wild Riders may have fled instead of fallen back.
Couple things, you can ignore a challenge with your champion and it doesn't affect you at all, champion can still hit the rank and file (this was important in the miners vs gladeguard fight). Also, the rangers not charging the dryads was big sad.
I don't think that's the case anymore. In 8th there was an exemption for Champions moving to the back but I don't see that anymore. They appear to be treated just like any other Character.
The wild riders should've lost their first combat into the rangers. I believe models that are killed in a stand and shoot count for combat res. SO the dwarves would've had the upper hand to begin with on combat res if im not mistaken.
Great battle report. One thing though; you can't stand and shoot if the distance is less than the movement characteristic of the charging value, so unless there's something I'm missing the Thunderers shouldn't have been able to Stand & Shoot all those Wardancers.
I'm not sure the thunderes could have stand and shoot against the wardancers, they looked to be to close, as you can't do so if within the charging units movement value.
I love seeing some Wood Elves on the table! However, in fairness to the dwarves, the Wild Rider actually would have lost first turn of combat to the Dwarf Rangers - Stand & Shoot is counted toward combat results! Pg 151: "each Wound the enemy side lost this turn due to a Stand & Shoot charge reaction or during the Combat phase is counted and is worth 1 combat result point."
Lovely armies ❤ Does the warmachine crew really have a save vs the Dryads? Is it not s4 vs light armour? And is there not a -1 to hit when stand and shoot? Thought the Thunders would hit on 6s when the wardancer charged? I might be wrong haven't seen the new rules so just wondering.
Have to say I wasn't expecting old world on this channel. Those are beautifully painted vintage models even if the colour scheme looks like painted by some obnoxiously patriotic swede.
This guy Winters knows what the people want!
Thanks Winters for hosting (putting up with) myself and Monkey. It was great fun throwing the old enemies against each other.
I'm sure many rules were muddled and forgotten, but this was a blast.
In fairness to any sane soul, have you seen the rule book!??
Our pleasure.
And that's why you should never shave a Dwarve. Great game, love yours and monkeys match ups!
Great battle. One rule I only caught on my 3rd play is you cannnot volley fire if you moved including a reform
Stand and shoot counts for battle resolution so the rangers would have won the battle against the wild rider.
Now those are some PROPER oldschool armies - beautiful! Thanks to all for bringing the Old World to the channel, I am looking forward to much more of this. :)
Old World, from you. With your amazing terrain and camerawork. I guess my birthday is early.
Stylus? Check! Monkey? Check! Sultan? Check! Need a brew, chocolate hobnobs and no disruptions. This is where the fun begins!!! 🤩
Proper warm fuzzies watching that. Lovely seeing some iconic minis from when I was a kid like that dwarf with the axe and eyepatch
Happy to see some Old World content on here, Winters! I hope there will be more coming!
It's an absolute joy to see these older models!
Indeed; those Dwarf Rangers would make a great Mordheim Treasure Hunters warband.
At first I thought you meant the players....
@@MrKurtank😄😄😄
@@MrKurtank Haha! excellent
Great stuff...I, thoroughly, enjoyed this battle...thanks guys...
It turns out the old world is great fun to play. I'm painting my Empire army to get more battles under my belt.
Best video you have ever made, the game just looks like good old fashioned wholesome fun. More of this.
The four horsemen of hobbypocalypse found some old toys.
I love the enthusiasm.
Great looking forces. I especially love the Dwarf bases. Filing that idea away.
Lovely retro armies. Takes me back
Really enjoyed this battle report. Would like to see more of the Old World.
Commenting because I want to see more of this everywhere. We're back, baby!
Beautiful armies with so many fantastic classic minis!!
The wardancers finally getting to the thunderers then just annihilated charging up the hill was hilarious
Really enjoyed watching an old world battle, cheers guys.
Wow I'm getting old but this makes me feel like a young schoolboy again.
Fantastic minis and paintjobs. And scenery.
This was a lovely battle report with great terrain and miniatures. There were lots of mistakes but everyone is still learning ToW so that is to be expected. Interested to watch the next report!
Fantastic! More Winters! More!
Beautiful armies and terrain! Also great clarity by the filming and narration. This was a joy to watch.
Liked, subbed, and shared!
Yeessssss!!!!!!!!!!! Winters + Old World = Amazingness
Whats this? A Friday Stream! Oh Winters. You're spoiling us. Amazing content as always!
Great stuff, never seen Old World before and enjoyed it a bunch!
I have to say, it's nice seeing some Old World content going on. I'd forgotten how much I'd missed Fantasy.
Love the very old-school models here! My dusty WHFB collection looks new by comparison.
That last brave cannoneer
Glad you're doing these!
nice work. Im not sure that the handgunners would have been able to stand and shoot the wardancers as they were too close.
OLD WORLD! On a Friday no less! Looking forward to watching this one.
THE WHOLE GANGS HERE! This is gonna be a treat :D
Just a little missed point on turn 2. Stand and shoots count for combat rest so with the wound caused by the rangers they actually beat the wild rider in combat. It's why dwarf shooting is so strong. They can restrain from following up and then shoot him down next turn.

lovely to see old world on here
Oh my....Winters thank you! 😀
Hell yes! More Old World!
Very enjoyable Bat-rep, thank you! Classic match up, was happy to see the Dwarf army prevail!
Very nice table, really nice models. Great.
Fantastic as always! More Old World please. Its the game that first got me into warhammer back in the early 90s, but also the game I never actually got to play a proper game of.
what a great cast of characters!
Wow, cool to see The Old World on Winters!
Stand shoot kills and regenerated wounds count towards combat res btw 👍🏻
Loving the old world goodness.
Been WAITING for this. BUZZING!
What a lovely game 😊 more Old World please Winters 🙏
This was a joy, gents. Thank you.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
absolutely loved it cheers fella's
been away from the channel so glad your still here !!!
Damn, this is old school!
Old world content is the best warhammer content thumbs up
The dwarfs forgot their battlecry "10 from the back"
I’m excited. I love seeing your 40K battle reports the most but seeing Fantasy/The Old World here too. I admit. it’s probably because in the 3 settings GW makes I like them in this order: Fantasy then 40K/30K then AoS.
That's what we want to see. Proper models those.
That was a short battle.
*"SHORT?!"*
been dieing to see the wood eleves and dwarfs play now i get to see both!
This everything I want from a Winters. If this channel became nothing but Heresy and Old World, you would hear no complaints from me.

Nice batrep. One thing I noticed. When the dryads lost combat to the flame cannon they should have given ground. This the flame cannon could have fired its gun
Yes, they should have given ground. I'm still getting a handle on the three different types of combat result.
Good stuff guys thanks
Yes! More old world please.
That was great fun! Well done guys. Never trust an elf!

They must have borrowed their poison weapons from the Drukhari that day.

Yes, you're right. There's a fair bit of learning the new rules and un-learning what I remember from the old rules at the same time.
Finally some Old World, Fantasy is the only Warhammer game I play now.
I will never paint or play any old world but I do love watching the games so much joy 😁 especially if it's Winters and Co
Great oldschool WFB batrep! Does anyone know of a channel running Old World games as good as this please? 😊
Nice to see some old 5th Ed Wood Elf models.
Really cool terrain, and the dwarfs, too!
Thank you - and some of them go back a lot further than 5th Ed.
A perfect morsel of friendship as gaming.
This a genuinely lovely comment. Thanks dude.
It's a great way to play.
Great work Stylus and monkey! 🤩
Cheers, buddy!
A most welcome surprise 😊
More of this please, more Heresy & LI too.
Best wishes
JJ
Love seeing ToW on my favorite batrep channel. One key point - stand and shoot casualties count against combat resolution so the Wild Riders may have fled instead of fallen back.
My Dad has pretty much those exact same old Wood Elf models. He's also got one of the old Wood Elf Tree men
Is that you, son?
@@WoffBoot Unfortunately my Dad passed away in 2022
Wasn't expecting this! I'll actually watch this later.
Ohhh… the old school dryads!!!
First battle report I have seen dwarfs win, lol.
This was so good! Would love to see some more Old World
Looks like he leapt right off the band wagon as soon as it started.

Where did they get the movement trays for the dwarfs from?? The look brilliant
Thanks - they're from Bases-and-more
More TOW! Love this!

"can he withstand such reckless hate" gold
Dwarves aren't slow, they're methodical.
natural sprinters, very dangerous over short distances
Finally. Top man!!
Mr. Winters, Sir, can we please have more stuff like this and Eldar vs. Necrons? You know, stuff without Space Marines :)
Verily, the Old World did cometh forth back into the Current World, leading the followers of the wizened one called Winters into the New World...
He didn't want to charge the cannon with the wardancers because of sportsmanship i must assume
Wasn’t expecting this.
Just so y'all know you forgot that wounds from Stand and shoot contribute to combat res
YESS OLD WORLD CONTENT 🥰
remember wounds that are saved by regen still count towards combat res.
I'm not sure the thunderes could have stand and shoot against the wardancers, they looked to be to close, as you can't do so if within the charging units movement value.
Did a similar grapeshot earlier this week against wardancers. Rolled a 10 and wiped out 5 of 5 😊
I love seeing some Wood Elves on the table!
However, in fairness to the dwarves, the Wild Rider actually would have lost first turn of combat to the Dwarf Rangers - Stand & Shoot is counted toward combat results!

Love it. 🤗
