Hey Steve, I'm literally converting Thorgrim into a King on Shieldbearers. Just build the model without the long 'carry handles' that the thronebearers usually hold. Have them holding up the throne itself, much more compact and fits neatly on a 50mm base.

This was a fairly boring game but it highlights the dwarves need for more firepower. Thank you for showing how easily it is to avoid Dwarven infantry blocks.
I mean, it’s not like we don’t know this already. The point of dwarfs is a strong firing line to draw the enemy in, and small bricks of Infantry to eat them up. Steve doesn’t use meta lists, ever. Dwarfs are incredibly tough when played correctly, which is why they have won 3GT’s in the last two months, one with a hundred players.
If Steve had drakes and thunderers with a gun thane and cannons supported by armored infantry, he would have done much better.
Also, 6 copters with clatter guns would be prime.
I’m playing a 2500 point RTT in August, and that level is where Dwarfs really shine. At 1500-2000 they don’t get quite enough points to cover all their bases. Thankfully the community seems to be moving on from 2000 points, at least all the tournaments I’m registered in for the next 3 months. They are all 2400 and 2500. The games biggest problem at launch was armies just being too small. This game doesn’t play well below 2000 points.
@Stonehorn i agree with the first half and disagree with the 2nd. Even at 1500 dwarves are still pretty ridiculous if you build the list correctly for the way you are playing them.
Asking the dwarf player "do you have any charges you want to declare?" on turn 2 is madness

Definitely not exciting but the correct choice given the Dwarfs didn't have enough shooting to force the Ogres to close, and the two scary Dwarf combat blocks could never catch backpedaling Ogres

Perfect battle report as always , but iI have a friendly question , why bother with the OGs, and not bring 10 drakes with torpedoes and bombs that cannot be delt more than 1 wound (unless flanked) by the cannons , cannot misfire and are a cannon/organ hybrid with higher percentage of actually killing something..
And they can stand & shoot too!!! 👍🏻

Think you allocated the hits not correctly:
P. 209:
Ifthere are fewer than five rank and file models in the unit, the controlling player must first allocate hits to the unit until one hit has been allocated to each model it contains. Any remaining hits are divided as equally as possible between the character(s) and the unit.
Engineer redirected the Thundertusk for some reason. The TT should have moved straight forward to contact the Engineer, enabling an overrun into the Organ Gun.
@@deanharing4236 nope. The Engineer is a character, so it moves like a skirmisher, you have to charge it as if it’s a skirmisher
Totally agree, but it appeared as if the TT was facing the Organ Gun at the end of its move. If so, it should still have been facing the OG after moving straight forward to charge the E. The E would rank up against the TT.
To me, it appeared as if the TT either wheeled to charge the E, or closed the door to the E, neither of which is allowed.
But if the TT was not facing the OG, then I stand corrected.
@@deanharing4236 it wheeled, because it must. you have to wheel your centre to the centre of the closest skirmisher you charge.
The rule doesn't state centre to centre.
"...it must endeavour to move as directly as possible into contact with the closest visible model in the target unit."
As long as you can contact the closest visible model, that's all that's required.
If it had to be centre to centre, then a 10-wide unit would never be able to charge a single model on foot located exactly one inch in front of the unit on the far right or left side. You'd never be able to wheel enough to ever bring your center to touch the single model.
I'm not trying to be argumentative. I'm just trying to understand another player's interpretation of a rule.

And yes a unit that is 10 wide must bring its centre most model in base contact, if it CAN.

@@MountainMiniatures 5 Mins in he replaces his spell with Maw regeneration spell then cast troll guts 10mins in. Those are only available to butchers.
