    Great tips!!! I like to add one, bring a small medicine kit (headache,stomach and allergy) also a few bandaids too. I remember getting a migraine headache during a wedding but had my kit. Thanks again for all your info Taylor👍🏼❤️📷

      I get through loads of bandaids at weddings, mostly for the women's heels with their new shoes.

    It is quite easy have a Checklist !!!! and check it two days before the wedding : batteries charged ,cards formatted ,lenses,backup camera,flashes … then check this checklist before packing …

    Scouting the location is frowned upon? One of the first tips I ever read 10 years ago to always go scout if you have the possibility. I did that 1-2 h before the wedding then (I was not doing getting ready photos then), and it was so helpful.
    Always scout if it is possible

    Doing my first wedding tomorrow, unfortunately it will be a solo shoot (small wedding, friend, and extremely limited budget on their end), but I appreciate these videos because I'm super nervous because I want it all to be perfect (and I know it won't be, but my job is to make the couple think it was).

    • @bigsie9641

      I'm in a very similar situation! (Small wedding, my brother and also a limited budget) How did it go? Their wedding is still about 2 months out so I have some time to prepare

    • @shanewilson7994
      @shanewilson7994 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bigsie9641 I wasn’t a fan of most of my photos. The couple seemed to love them though.
      Overall it was an interesting situation. Things I’d recommend.
      Second shooter. I know probably not possible but you miss a ton of great shots. But can be done solo.
      Timeline. My people didn’t really have one so there ended up being a lot of chaos on what to do next. Or when things were starting. And this will make sure you have a little time to shoot the bride and groom.
      But was a learning experience. And a fun one. And I’d probably only ever do it for friends and family. But this is because it just isn’t as enjoyable as my main photography (cosplay).

    Did my first wedding in a few years last week. Went super well, but that first tip of taking a shot of the schedule and ref shots great idea. Will use that for my next one in 2 weeks time.

    These are also great tips for regular portrait photographers. I DO pre scout locations before I bring the model there. It helps me to build my shot list in advance. Valuable info Taylor thanks!

    Bro I am a strength coach starting my photography career, your videos are SO helpful. however, let me help you in return with the sugar tip because I can't listen to that 😂 candies wtf? Man the logic is not wrong, but the selection of what to consume... get yourself some powdered form of carbs like cyclic dextrin, or even maltodextrin that is released more slowly, mix It in water with salt, EEA amino acids, why not at this point, and make 2 x 2.5 lt water jugs with this stuff. I am treating this now as a workout, great intra workout!!! absolutely it will work the same for a exhausting job. For exact dosages reply to me

  • @kd4wg01
    @kd4wg01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question, as for food. Do you expect them to have a plate for you? Or do you ask if they'll provide? Or you just dont assume anything and just bring your own/ go out.

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’d say talk to the couple about it. Usually they’ll give you a plate and a seat somewhere to eat dinner. Some of my first few weddings I did end up running out to pick something up because it was overlooked by both of us.
      You can put it in your contract if you want to make sure the couple reads it, or just make a note to talk about it in the first meeting and reconfirm prior to the wedding

    Trick I learned from watching The Bourne Identity; implant a spare SD card under your skin. That way it's always with you and you can just cut it out in an emergency.

    pro tip from semi-pro photographer: if you are shooting with two bodies, take the very first shot of some watches, where you can see seconds. one body, then second body. it doesn't have to be at the same time, same second. Just take the shots. Later in whatever software you are using, you can adjust the metadata from both cameras to that very second, so you will have precise order of your photos, even if you are switching cameras super fast. You probably don't have to do this, if your camera has gps or connecting to phone and syncing time regularly. But this is very easy way, how to set multiple cameras.

    wow 18 years of doing weddings 😲. do you see yourself doing this another 18? or 10? Watching other TH-camrs who do photography that are about 10 years older than you are now doing other genres of photography and when they did a little bio of themselves, a majority of them started out as wedding photographers.

    Biggest mistake I ever made was stealing other photographers portfolio. Good thing I know a friend that was in the CIA down in Miami he'll do anything for money because he has a Burn Notice.
