Probably one of the best races in racing game history. two drivers pushing themselves to the limit going down a mountain road to stay in the race, engines screaming and tires screeching for grip. Sirens are wailing in the distance with explosions and subsequent debris from trees, snow and rocks pummelling the road. The tunnels are your only point of safety and calm from all the chaos, with the music equally bringing in the sense of drama and noise all the way til you race the avalanche into the tunnel. Everything goes quiet as you meet the avalanche at the tunnel, almost uncertainty of survival of you and your fellow driver. then, the lights of the tunnel showcase your safety and this part of the stage to be done. Absolute cinema.
This is so stunning. Something I find fascinating too is that despite what some may think with the explosions, this race isn't entirely unrealistic. As I've come to learn, controlled explosions are actually common on Independence Pass during snow season in order to mitigate avalanches when the road eventually reopens. Despite being a work of fiction and looking like something out of a modern F&F movie, this race is actually quite realistic in depicting something that does happen on the real Independence Pass.
@@bensharpe64 It could even run on high if it was optimized. Prob would run the best on iPhones since they have the best optimization. And comparing low and high settings in this game, there is almost no difference (atleast how it looks in pc)
One of the best races in the series. The soundtrack used in this mission (by Brian Tyler) is also one of the best in the series in my opinion. Great driving!
@Dindyracer I used the souped up B7 RS4 for all the snow sections. The GTR is an inspired choice. Bug that Ingolstadt 4.2 liter V8 sang beautifully in those mountains.
If anyone ever says that The Run is a bad game, just show them this video. Even if it doesn't change their mind on whether TR is a good or bad game, you really can't deny that it looks sick. Plus, the graphics is realistic. As if you're actually the cameraman following Jack.
I'm so glad you made this video. I have watched it so many times, especially since I have no real way to play The Run myself currently I just adore watching this.
10k views, thank you guys I might oblige to play this again someday but in a wider aspect ratio... Old comment: I didn't think this video would be getting views almost a year later, thank you, guys! I also want to make a note, I deleted some comments that were in a reply below one of the comments saying you can hack this Instagram account going to this website, I deleted that reply to the guy's comment, pls don't fall for this kind of scams. Edit: Not sure why this video is being suggested as what I'm seeing in my studio analytic.
Why isn’t there anymore racing games with scenes like this? It’s realistic enough where it’s believable and fun. I don’t want big jumps with sports/muscle/super cars, it’s so unrealistic to the point where it isn’t fun anymore
You can also make big jumps with it but yeah, it is so rare and physics based that it is very realistic to have that jump rather than jumping each 2 seconds. Also very rewarding too.
id probably enjoy watch a whole film like this hell, it explains why I enjoyed Hardcore Henry so much i'm also realizing why modern open world racing games feel so dead and flat...
This is one of the best races in the entire game. I mean, the B-E-S-T. The snowy road, dark tunnels, avalanche made this race Awesome Also you have to be careful of some rock boulders. One hit and the whole experience will be ruined P.S: It also reminds me a lot of things from Classic NFS games from the '90s like The road design, the tunnels, even the track name is summit
I always found that XP tag "Survived" scary. That thought if I screwed up, Jack would have died is a scary thought. And a lot of these possibles were really gruesome ones.
Just how the music is in this game. Even though I never played Need for Speed the Run gives me a bit of Final Fantasy sort of direction. I remember playing Final Fantasy XIII and it had very beautiful winter scenes up in the mountains. This race event looked badass
I did this with the '69 Mustang Boss 302. That adds a whole new challenge to this part of the game. Especially since the power-to-handling ratio were so unbalanced. Still one of my favorite parts of the game.
Ik everyone who played this level for the first time was like WTF IS HAPPENING, y'all ain't finna tell me I was the only one with there balls in their mouth along with a clenched asshole
i never Knew it about The Audi R8 5.2 NFS Edition is Darius that Place from 169th after race against Dodge Challenger SRT8 after escape from the Police in Las Vegas
Imagine what the team could do with that. Already imagining stuff like a jump over an active avalanche bc of the speed and a section where you are fast enough to maybe outrun these explosions and have to take a turn really quickly to not get burried alive
This video looks full on my mobile screen thanks to it being ultra wide or it would have not been full and would have 2 black corners left and right side
It’s crazy how this is one of the most iconic races in NFS racing with an unknown driver in the R8
Fan fact. You can meet him before that race in the stage 4 race 1. He is 3rd guy you need to pass
@@dastarunner8562 wait... There is a R8 in the first race of stage 4?
@@xhayse_ yep. And it is the same R8 that dies in avalanche
@@xhayse_ it is 3rd car you overtake after green Camaro and silver 911 gt2.

ngl the first time i played this my dumbass thought those were asteroids 😭
Ohhh shit, i thought that the missiles were deployed because no one should be able to cross that path.
Like the military trying to keep people out
Watching this on a phone, looks really good, feels like I'm playing it. Perfect cinematic experience.

Great driving!
Definitely. It's one of my favorite NFS moments besides Cross yelling everyone in Most Wanted
I see you are a man of sophistication, taking the GT-R on this race.
I tried using the Super Snake once.
ONCE.
I know that GT500 Super Snake made for some fun times...especially on the time trial before this race.
Enjoyed the GT500 to start and leave San Francisco, but once we hit the mountains and snow I knew I was driving nothing but the GT-R lol!
@Dindyracer I used the souped up B7 RS4 for all the snow sections. The GTR is an inspired choice. Bug that Ingolstadt 4.2 liter V8 sang beautifully in those mountains.
I've done the whole game with the Super Snake. ( normal difficulty).
Okay.. RWD, and tricky to control, but managable.
I used the Gallardo Valentino Balboni 💚🤍❤️
Does anyone else think it's interesting that Need For Speed: The Run was a better Need For Speed Movie then the actual movie?

This is definitely one of my favorite game! There is no repetitive bullshit. Just driving from point A to B.
This is definitely going to catch onto the algorithm now. Insane cinematic experience.
Great video, this game is visually stunning even in 2021,ahead of its time back in 2011 when game came out, too bad we wont see The Run 2
Every time that I remember that this game was made more than 10 years ago I get the chills holy sh.
