Language is the foundation of any ethnic group, clan, tribe etc. The front teeth of the indigenous people were removed if they spoke their indigenous languages, and if they continued, the breasts of the women were removed dried and made into tobacco sacks, and the mens testicles cut off. If you deny the existence of a people deny the existence of their language.
