Is this the company that was based in Castleford? If it is, then they had a lot of CCJ's against them. As far as I know, they lost the premises in Castleford and moved to a new place.
Yes that's the company they are called Affordable Van Conversions. Danny Bailey & Jade Bailey own it. Yes I heard about the CCJs too, things happen and we can all have issues, seen hard times but it's how you deal with it that makes you a better person. It seems as though these people don't care, which is really 😢
All these comments from people who have heard one side of the story. I don’t know either party involved and have my own opinions having seen both this video and the companies. But remember there’s two sides to every story and not everything you see on TH-cam is as it seems
@@benriley324 of course there are two sides to every story. We are not a company though, we are ordinary people who do TH-cam as a hobby. AVC are a limited company, not the best customer service I was expecting and breach of GDPR.
@@WattsOccurring personal details should have been blocked out but as for correspondence surely he has a right to defend his petition with what you’re accusing them off. It might be a hobby to you but with the click bait titles in your videos I’d say you’re a season d TH-camr who knows how the site works and what you are doing with it. And you yourself said you’d publish the proof you have so wouldn’t that be emails and messages. My take on it is you were happy at the start with what I assume is a discounted install and should have gone back to them to sort the snags and not another company. You have to give the original company fair and reasonable time to put things right and on their part they should make sure that they don’t get things sorted for you regardless of the cost to the agreed spec. Things should be safe. But they should have had the opportunity to rectify any faults. That’s just my personal take based on what I’ve seen

Well, it's an interesting line of events, and I'm sorry you had a lot of problems ... however, I feel you made many mistakes with this contract (if there ever was one) and I think the Company did try to work with you, but had a difficult time sorting their workload - their problem, not yours ... 🙄 What I'm trying to say, from a completely non-involved perspective, is that mistakes were made on both sides ... but there is never any excuse for bad or shoddy workmanship. However, I think you should have taken the van back to them if only to SHOW them this bad work. I personally NEVER give a company a second chance to make things worse ‼️ But I do think the commenters on here should watch AVC's video showing their version of events . . . 😮

I feel your pain as I had been in a similar situation with a conversion on my crafter. Pulled my van out and went with another converter who sorted the terrible mess out and turned it around into a good conversion. I knew it was going to be a battle to get my money back I’d paid up front but got there in the end, but it drained me mentally and physically. I wish you well and don’t let the bastards grind you down.
I had a similar experience with somebody I thought was a friend , also gave him money up front , in the event he did nothing , but used my van for HIS business for a few months , I am so sorry
I've heard that using vans while in their control are being used for their personal use. Please if you can, take a record of your mileage before and after as this is not supposed to happen. I never gave permission for my van to be used to pick stuff up for their work.
It's your right to post this video if the conversion was shoddy, but I think you should show pictures of the work during the same video as you are making these comments on this video. Preparation for the video should have been better. Then there is the issue of you putting a message to your husband, but it's shaking back and forth making it hard to read while other information isn't that way. Just saying.

You have inspired me to contact an electrical company that i spent 2000 pounds - to do work, only to go to another van company and they said - its not the right electrical cable and they had to put all new cable through - but didnt want to touch the old one (so two sets of cables in there). Should get everything on paper before hand, pay half n half when its all done. I know its easy to say but thats how it works friends or not. Always get a contract on paper.

Folks! Never, ever pay cash-in-hand. Do that ,then , there is no paper trail. I handed my lowlife sister a total of £9,150 for a powerchair IN February. She stole the lot. As I gave her the whole amount in cash I couldn't prove anything. So protect yourselves and YOUR hard earned money. And listen to this video again.
Having been in business for almost 60 years one of my companies is owed around 200,000 euros by Brits only, many very religious. My opinion here is that he did not need all money up front, stage payments when he wants a part, he sends you a photo of what is needed a week in advance you transfer the money. If you had problems with parts and he said bring in l will do it, you should have, by engaging another contractor you have put yourself at fault and the case is closed. You are Welsh also and my companies would never work for anyone from Wales...................or Germany because everything goes well whilst the job is underway and when its finished, it is all wrong.
I don't know you. I dont know Affordable Vans. But if everything you say is true, I guess I won't be asking them to quote for a job I need doing. Sounds like Liam has gone to some lengths for you, & although I don't know him either, he seems a decent bloke. I hope everything gets resolved in your favour, & doesn't put you off your chosen lifestyle.
When i quote a price for a job im about to do, i also include my labor, and costs, profit, and everything i think i will need to complete the job. If i end up needing extra material then it comes out of my profit, since i already quoted a price. Many business operate this way. However when doing a labor free labor job, and the client pays for parts, then for me its expected the client will pay for the parts, even if my estimate is a bit off. because the part might costs more that last time i ordered it, or whatever. or like wood, can vary week to week depending on supply and demand. So i am not saying anyone is right or wrong, and maybe just a little understanding of what might of happened. And at the end of the day, that company did a bunch of labor, and did a job that you could not/ or would not do. So there should be some good will for just that effort alone.

They also told us that they were doing it at cost price, because they were going to use my van as a flag ship for their business. You both can hold your heads up high I 100 percent believe every word, just one thing gives the red flag to me is asking for the money up front could have had 75 percent and the rest on completion us the normal.
Folks should always get a van lifer to build your vans... You don't need an awning,, they never get used.. Half the stuff you don't need.. I built a transit full length and height with PROPPER Done insulation and ply, water system and electric, bed and kitchen in 3 weeks.. That also looking after 2 new ferrets.. Electrics are most expensive,, all the fixtures and fittings I see,, make the van over weight.. You really don't need half of it.. You want it all minimal as you can put up with..
Interesting vlog. I would say though that these days the term ‘friend’ gets used an awful lot by people. I hear TH-camrs use the term a lot. Most people in life are not your friends they are passing acquaintances who you both briefly enjoy spending certain moments with. Friends are people who stick with you through the rough times of life. It’s easier to bypass hurt caused when you realise most people are not friends. Sorry you are upset it does seem a heartbreaking thing to have something you have so emotionally and financially invested in not live up to expectation. I am always conscious that as viewers we usually only hear one side though. I hope you get fair treatment from the van builders if they have done you harm. If the van was dangerous then you should consider legal action. That is unacceptable if proven to be true and they would need exposing to warn others. If it’s (just) bad workmanship on finishing then maybe it’s a lesson learnt in not parting with money until the job is done. I do not understand why you’ve done that. (I put just in brackets as it’s unacceptable to have bad finishing but it’s why you don’t pay upfront) I hope you have many happy years in your new camper. I I really sorry it has been stressful. You seem a lovely lady and I could tell that was a hard vlog for you to post. Lesson for all. Few people are friends, trust no one and never pay upfront. For viewers though we need more than one side of the story to condemn a person or an entire business.

So sorry for what you’ve been through.unfortunately at least 50% of trades are the same often not very good business people.had the same with our patio used my cousin and turned out he hadn’t got a clue on what he was doing.now I do everything I can do myself and only have myself to blame if it goes wrong and haven’t really lost anything but time.try and move on happens to most of us as we r probably too soft.

I would sue them. Small claims court is up to £10,000 now. I will never pay upfront for any work or any work i havent signed a contract for with the amount of money agreed on the contract. I have learned that the hard way. I have a little van. Videos like this make me happy i keep my travels off social media and dont really bother with socialising. My van is my sanity. An escape from all the stresses of life. Im sorry this happened to you. I hope you manage to get it sorted without having to lose any more money.
Now this is what I hate, not slating the business for this as it happens a lot especially in the building trade, but I would never take customers money up front (maybe 10% deposit on special order items) but I have always been payment on customers satisfaction. Might be hard at first for a new start up but in my mind that is probably not a bad thing as it stops someone running before they can walk.I have been there and struggled like hell in the 80's starting up with an old Bedford van and my toolbox but I think that makes you stronger as a business. Like I said, this is not aimed at the business concerned, just what I think on up front payments whatever the company. Chris

First time seeing a video from you (just cropped up on my suggested feed) I’m always conscious that theres two sides to every story , however previous ccj’s against them and you’ve made clear your intention to post more videos showing us the standard of work they carried out, my moneys on your side of the story. Thank you for posting this, soo many vanlifers have bad experiences with firms, but then refuse to name and shame them, which then means others fall to the same fate, you’ve done the right thing.

There’s no friends where money is involved the work should have at least 1 years warranty minimum and you should take them to court They are caw boys and laim has done terrible van conversations him self they are bodgeer that made a van for them self and then recon they are experts in van builds none of them have any qualifications in journey or electrical engineering

Yes with no insurance and no authority from me or any other customer I suspect. I had a few scratches and a dent (only small) when I received my van back but I couldn't remember if it was there before hand, for certain, so cnt call them out on that but know they used my van while it was there for almost 10 weeks, without my permission!

I'm guessing the guy doesn't charge enough for the time he has to put into van conversions and ends up having to cut corners to get it finished. Whatever their reason, you ended up paying for their lack of professionalism. I'm sorry this has happened to you. It always happens to the good ones.

Why not allow AVC to rectify the faults instead of Liam, allegedly they are 35 minutes apart. Not sure if this has helped the situation, getting another van builder involved needs to be a last resort.

The answer and reasons behind not returning to them are mostly in this Video and the visual evidence will be in future videos, as the work was not a one day job and small snags. We are ordinary people, who work hard for our money and have been, verbally abused, spent a lot of money on the dream van, with it turning out as a botched job, then suffered awful customer service, with all personal details splashed all over social media and the internet. I feel as though they would do it all over again, the standard of the build has not produced small snags as they have put it, to be done in a day. This would take weeks to redo. You are a kind person to allow this man, who ruined your home on wheels, the opportunity to fix it properly, very disappointing he doesn't see you truly are a friend. My partner bought a horsebox that was converted by a company in Clacton. She stupidly bought it without seeing it as we live in Lincs. It was a pile of tat, put together by 12 year olds.

Is this the company that was based in Castleford? If it is, then they had a lot of CCJ's against them. As far as I know, they lost the premises in Castleford and moved to a new place.

Yes I heard about the CCJs too, things happen and we can all have issues, seen hard times but it's how you deal with it that makes you a better person. It seems as though these people don't care, which is really 😢

We are not a company though, we are ordinary people who do TH-cam as a hobby.
AVC are a limited company, not the best customer service I was expecting and breach of GDPR.

It might be a hobby to you but with the click bait titles in your videos I’d say you’re a season d TH-camr who knows how the site works and what you are doing with it.
And you yourself said you’d publish the proof you have so wouldn’t that be emails and messages.
My take on it is you were happy at the start with what I assume is a discounted install and should have gone back to them to sort the snags and not another company.
You have to give the original company fair and reasonable time to put things right and on their part they should make sure that they don’t get things sorted for you regardless of the cost to the agreed spec. Things should be safe. But they should have had the opportunity to rectify any faults.
That’s just my personal take based on what I’ve seen

Well, it's an interesting line of events, and I'm sorry you had a lot of problems ... however, I feel you made many mistakes with this contract (if there ever was one) and I think the Company did try to work with you, but had a difficult time sorting their workload - their problem, not yours ... 🙄
What I'm trying to say, from a completely non-involved perspective, is that mistakes were made on both sides ... but there is never any excuse for bad or shoddy workmanship. However, I think you should have taken the van back to them if only to SHOW them this bad work. I personally NEVER give a company a second chance to make things worse ‼️
But I do think the commenters on here should watch AVC's video showing their version of events . . . 😮

I feel your pain as I had been in a similar situation with a conversion on my crafter. Pulled my van out and went with another converter who sorted the terrible mess out and turned it around into a good conversion.
I knew it was going to be a battle to get my money back I’d paid up front but got there in the end, but it drained me mentally and physically.

I had a similar experience with somebody I thought was a friend , also gave him money up front , in the event he did nothing , but used my van for HIS business for a few months , I am so sorry
I've heard that using vans while in their control are being used for their personal use. Please if you can, take a record of your mileage before and after as this is not supposed to happen.
I never gave permission for my van to be used to pick stuff up for their work.
It's your right to post this video if the conversion was shoddy, but I think you should show pictures of the work during the same video as you are making these comments on this video. Preparation for the video should have been better. Then there is the issue of you putting a message to your husband, but it's shaking back and forth making it hard to read while other information isn't that way. Just saying.

You have inspired me to contact an electrical company that i spent 2000 pounds - to do work, only to go to another van company and they said - its not the right electrical cable and they had to put all new cable through - but didnt want to touch the old one (so two sets of cables in there). Folks! Never, ever pay cash-in-hand. Do that ,then , there is no paper trail. I handed my lowlife sister a total of £9,150 for a powerchair IN February. She stole the lot. As I gave her the whole amount in cash I couldn't prove anything. So protect yourselves and YOUR hard earned money. And listen to this video again.

Having been in business for almost 60 years one of my companies is owed around 200,000 euros by Brits only, many very religious. My opinion here is that he did not need all money up front, stage payments when he wants a part, he sends you a photo of what is needed a week in advance you transfer the money. If you had problems with parts and he said bring in l will do it, you should have, by engaging another contractor you have put yourself at fault and the case is closed. You are Welsh also and my companies would never work for anyone from Wales...................or Germany because everything goes well whilst the job is underway and when its finished, it is all wrong.

Sounds like Liam has gone to some lengths for you, & although I don't know him either, he seems a decent bloke.
I hope everything gets resolved in your favour, & doesn't put you off your chosen lifestyle.
When i quote a price for a job im about to do, i also include my labor, and costs, profit, and everything i think i will need to complete the job. If i end up needing extra material then it comes out of my profit, since i already quoted a price. Many business operate this way. However when doing a labor free labor job, and the client pays for parts, then for me its expected the client will pay for the parts, even if my estimate is a bit off. because the part might costs more that last time i ordered it, or whatever. or like wood, can vary week to week depending on supply and demand. So i am not saying anyone is right or wrong, and maybe just a little understanding of what might of happened. And at the end of the day, that company did a bunch of labor, and did a job that you could not/ or would not do. So there should be some good will for just that effort alone.

Folks should always get a van lifer to build your vans... You don't need an awning,, they never get used.. Half the stuff you don't need.. I built a transit full length and height with PROPPER Done insulation and ply, water system and electric, bed and kitchen in 3 weeks.. That also looking after 2 new ferrets.. Electrics are most expensive,, all the fixtures and fittings I see,, make the van over weight.. You really don't need half of it.. You want it all minimal as you can put up with..

Interesting vlog. I would say though that these days the term ‘friend’ gets used an awful lot by people. I hear TH-camrs use the term a lot. Most people in life are not your friends they are passing acquaintances who you both briefly enjoy spending certain moments with. Friends are people who stick with you through the rough times of life.
It’s easier to bypass hurt caused when you realise most people are not friends.
Sorry you are upset it does seem a heartbreaking thing to have something you have so emotionally and financially invested in not live up to expectation.
I am always conscious that as viewers we usually only hear one side though.
I hope you get fair treatment from the van builders if they have done you harm. If the van was dangerous then you should consider legal action. That is unacceptable if proven to be true and they would need exposing to warn others.
If it’s (just) bad workmanship on finishing then maybe it’s a lesson learnt in not parting with money until the job is done. I do not understand why you’ve done that. (I put just in brackets as it’s unacceptable to have bad finishing but it’s why you don’t pay upfront)
I hope you have many happy years in your new camper. I I really sorry it has been stressful. You seem a lovely lady and I could tell that was a hard vlog for you to post.
Lesson for all. Few people are friends, trust no one and never pay upfront. For viewers though we need more than one side of the story to condemn a person or an entire business.

I would sue them. Small claims court is up to £10,000 now. I will never pay upfront for any work or any work i havent signed a contract for with the amount of money agreed on the contract. I have learned that the hard way. I have a little van. Videos like this make me happy i keep my travels off social media and dont really bother with socialising. My van is my sanity. An escape from all the stresses of life. Im sorry this happened to you. I hope you manage to get it sorted without having to lose any more money.
Now this is what I hate, not slating the business for this as it happens a lot especially in the building trade, but I would never take customers money up front (maybe 10% deposit on special order items) but I have always been payment on customers satisfaction. Might be hard at first for a new start up but in my mind that is probably not a bad thing as it stops someone running before they can walk.I have been there and struggled like hell in the 80's starting up with an old Bedford van and my toolbox but I think that makes you stronger as a business. Like I said, this is not aimed at the business concerned, just what I think on up front payments whatever the company. Chris

There’s no friends where money is involved the work should have at least 1 years warranty minimum and you should take them to court They are caw boys and laim has done terrible van conversations him self they are bodgeer that made a van for them self and then recon they are experts in van builds none of them have any qualifications in journey or electrical engineering

Yes with no insurance and no authority from me or any other customer I suspect.
I had a few scratches and a dent (only small) when I received my van back but I couldn't remember if it was there before hand, for certain, so cnt call them out on that but know they used my van while it was there for almost 10 weeks, without my permission!

I dont know these guys but do know someone who went to work for them (he has 2 of his own very badly self built vans) so i was very surprised he even got the job 😂 Its now no surprise to see this story 😢 Ive never built a van until my own build and think it's turned out ok, prob better than any of this companies 😂 Least this vid is going viral and will definitely help your channel 🎉 I need a viral video 😂😂 Good luck going forward 🙏

Why not allow AVC to rectify the faults instead of Liam, allegedly they are 35 minutes apart. Not sure if this has helped the situation, getting another van builder involved needs to be a last resort.

AVC, had told me they wanted nothing more to do with me and stopped any future communication, with me.
The answer and reasons behind not returning to them are mostly in this Video and the visual evidence will be in future videos, as the work was not a one day job and small snags.

We are ordinary people, who work hard for our money and have been, verbally abused, spent a lot of money on the dream van, with it turning out as a botched job, then suffered awful customer service, with all personal details splashed all over social media and the internet.
It's just unbelievable that a company can think this is the right way to deal with things by bullying me into silence. 😞

I feel as though they would do it all over again, the standard of the build has not produced small snags as they have put it, to be done in a day. This would take weeks to redo. The reason I finally put this video out, was due to the abuse by making people aware of the circumstances. If I save just one person from going through what I have, then I would have achieved my objective and still hope that the company can change its policies, improve on thier workmanship, customer service and make the business successful. 👍

Take them to court before they declare bankruptcy. That will most likley be his next move now.And he will blame you for having some unreasnoble vendeta against him as the reason for having to it. To try and steer away from him making a mess of the job not really knowing what he was doing.

My partner bought a horsebox that was converted by a company in Clacton. She stupidly bought it without seeing it as we live in Lincs. It was a pile of tat, put together by 12 year olds.
