- www.redferret.n.... The Nissan Qashqai 2014 'Next Generation' model is a brand new update on one of the most popular cars in Europe. This 'crossover' vehicle comes with a strong pedigree - including sales of 2 million around the globe - and we take a look to see if the new model lives up to the historical success.
The simple answer is, it does. The new car is roomy, fun to drive and offers an excellent combination of family versatility and driver appeal that made the first generation so popular. Throw in some high end options like automatic parking, and collision avoidance, and it's almost certain to be a winning combination.

Had mine for two years, 2 litre NZ and Australian model, incredible car, quiet, comfortable spacious, not a single problem in 26000kms apart from some Pratt putting a ding in the passengers door. Great car and great economy.
We are closing in on a quarter million kilometers in our 2014 (model) 2017 Qashqai Tekna 1.6 dCi.... and it is still going, no problems !
We absolutely love this car !
Our next car will likely be a Mercedes EQC electric or a GLC.... but until then we have had many great years in Qashqais... this is our third one ;-)
Good review for us second hand buyers.
Have just purchased a lovely 2019 Connecta. Accordingly, knee deep in you tube videos. In all of them I've yet to see a reviewer have the confidence to actually use the parking assist to perform a parallel park with a car relatively close behind as well as a car in front. Seems we don't trust the tech totally and still prefer to rely on our own skills. And don't forget even the tech gets you in the tight spot it's still not clever enough to get you out!
In the few short weeks I've owned on real negatives yet and the level of spec is great value. The only thing I would mention is what a lot of you tube reviewers have mentioned. The gear throw is a little on the long side and whilst many may just get used to it may put off some depending on what car you've come from. I would also assert that that if you are looking to carry 4 people regularly you should ignore the 1.2 petrol engines and just go for the 1.3 . The 1.2 was just way to sluggish at junctions or when you might need a bit of pep. The glass roof on mine is glorious and kids love it!
I'm a bit late to the party, but your video has helped me choose my new car :)
I drive a 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid. I love my SUV!!!
I love the new cash key
We are thinking of getting this in April hopefully!!
Hi! Did you ?
Did you get the car?
Will buy one this month September 2018
The new genertion KASHKI
loved the new parking assistant! sorry for the guys who just bought qq in 2013
You are not safe for the road if you can't park your own car without aids.
Quna Maxamus You could say the same about turn indicators. :)
Turn indicators let OTHERS know where you are about to go so they don't cause a crash out of your unexpected change of direction. Parking assistant does a simple driving maneuver instead of you and degrades connection with your car which in turn will lower your ability to maneuver in a more serious driving situations.
Quna Maxamus '...degrades connection with your car...' I think that's reaching a bit to be honest. You could say that power steering degrades your connection with the car, or hill start assist, or any number of the newer driver aids which are coming on to the market, but the bottom line is you still need to drive your car, pass a test and know what you're doing.
Thank you very much
I enjoyed that video. Thanks.
Thanks, it's our pleasure. :)
Wondering if the parking assist sees the sidewalks also or just destroys the alloys while parking!
Nope, it all parks very nicely. You can see our auto parking video clip. The link is in the video.
Red Ferret
Excellent!
Posidaon Cannot agree, on mine rear right alloy would kerb nicely if I didn't interrupt park assist
Can I know what colour is this? Artic or pearl white?
I'm a n00b with cars, what would the 74 mpg & car's capacity allow it to manage on one tank, and how much would that tank cost at current diesel prices? thnx.
Well, apparently it's got a 12 gallon tank, so if you say average of around 65 miles per gallon then it should do 780 miles to a tank. Cost depends on where you buy of course, but around £70 a fill up. Hope that helps. More stats at carleasingmadesimple.com/business-car-leasing/nissan/qashqai-diesel-hatchback_2/63028/technical-data/
Thanks. Would do me a month.
Red Ferret
gallon .... miles .... out of time system
peremen quaint...
Ross Byrne Probably not. That range of (max 780 miles) would be motorway driving only.
With a good mix of motorway miles and urban miles, you would be looking at 590 to 650 miles on a tank. That is what I am getting. I am heavy with my right foot......so that is perhaps why it looks bad in comparison
I have got 64 number plate can u please help me where I can set anti theft sensor
Great vid
Thanks. :)
I thought the name Qash"qai" was supposed to rhyme with "buy", not with "key"??
You know what, I came out of that press launch more confused about the pronunciation of the name than ever. I even called it cash-kye at one point in the video. I suspect even they don't know how to say it really. ;)
That is the acenta so that doesnt have loads of technology, still a nice car though
Does the park assist come as standard on all models or just some of them ?
Just the top
Why don't they just make everyone's life easier and keep calling it a DUALIS (in Australia anyway)????
it is also called as Rogue in US, Canada. name is all different. marketing strategy?
1.5 dci is Renault engine and the 1.6 diesel is from Nissan. Best 15dci
This is the Nissan Rogue in North America
I have 2015 1.5 dci tekna. Does anyone on here have a problem with movement in the gearstick after changing gear, ie, if you change from 4th to 5th for eg and accelerate and decelerate, does the gear stick move back and forth, as if engine mountings are loose or some linkages are loose? Mine does, I have had many cars and never experienced this. My Nissan dealer took it out and said its normal, I argued otherwise. Next week I am testing a similar car to see if its the same. Nissan are not happy with me. I am in Spain and their attitude is somewhat different to the UK., thanks.
Marshall Worsnop My Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dCi does exactly the same. I have had Nissans before. I had a X trail a few years back. Did the same thing and I had a Nissan Sentra GXE way back in 1992 and that did the same. I never even give it much thought until I read your post
So nothing to worry about to be honest.
Marshall Worsnop It's totally normal in any car, if the engine mounts had gone you'd know about it!
why do you pronounce it "kashkee"? It's kashkai.
joey qashqai
this is not a diesel - look on the clock... i see 8k rev which means it is petrol...
It is diesel
Josh Lambert This is the 1.2T Petrol model. The Diesel has a much smaller rev range.
correct
It seams like they are using two cars, in the end they have a diesel, when he shows the dashboard in the start its a petrol.
Is qashqai and dualis the same thing?
yes
Nissan qashqai with this specs will cost same or will be cheaper than Golf 7 1.6 TDI with 105 HP., and look now Qashqai and look Golf 7!!!
all is in the price
aha, what you get from golf 7 and what you get for same money from qashqai!!
πολυ ωρεο
IMO this car would be a real star but with a proper strong 2 litre diesel. That 1.6 dci is good for car a size of clio but not a qashqai.
***** The 1.6 has the power output of a 2.0L - so putting a 2.0L in there would be useless.
***** The 1.6 has 130PS ....................pretty good for a small unit. If you went for a 2.0, what output would you want?
monk3yboy69 Its a Diesel, too. You'll always see lower BHP figures since they don't spin as fast as a gasoline. 130 for a 1.6 Diesel is excellent, as it would be for a 2.0L too.
benanderson89 I am fully aware it is a diesel. What do you mean you will always see lower BHP figures as they don't spin as fast as a gasoline???
monk3yboy69 Horsepower is the amount of Torque an engine generates in 1 minute at a given engine speed. 1hp = 33,000lb/ft of Torque per minute.
Diesels spin far slower than Gasoline engines due to them being compression ignition engines rather than Spark Ignition like a Gasoline, meaning less work per minute and a lower horsepower figure.
mpg seems incredibly high
Yes. Diesels are higher than petrol though, so it's likely to be somewhere lower but still impressive we guess?
74mpg?!?
I'll take a bit of that
74 mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 are fucking with me
it is only used in Europe. other countries use km/l or l/100km. actually, it is closed to 15.6 km/l.
This seems almost identical to the Dualis with a few little extra gadgets....????????
Vince McKenzie Dualis was the name of the Qashqai in other markets.
Power anyone?
It's a Nissan quashqai not a cashkee for info
I have a Tekna version 1.2 petrol and cvt gearbox. The car is okey. But it is a very cheap and simply build vehicle. My other car, a Vw Passat 2012 is a well build quality car. Nissan Qashqai is not 😬
Its said like this cash ki
no. cashkai (Qashqai)
Can't even get the name of the car right.
concernant le dizaine je pence que la précédente est mieux
Road noise sounds terrible!...
That's probably because of the auto-gain on my camera, which amplifies the noise when there's silence. It's actually not that noisy in the car when you're driving.
Howdy? Thank You For Caring. extra-large woozy
74 mpg? you must be trippin', get your information right please
You can find the detailed fuel consumption specs here - tinyurl.com/p6mf8ww and here's a screen grab - imgur.com/Pq9kbU8 . As you'll see, the extra urban is 78.5 mpg, and the combined consumption is 74.3 mpg. Thanks for the comment.
yes but you know that numbers on a piece of paper don't mean reality. test drive it for 200 miles and then come back with real mpg
da23ni82 You asked me to get my information right, and I was demonstrating that the information I provided was 'right' in official terms.
With regard to reality, you will know as well as I do that it's impossible to review and test for every variation of load, topology, environment and circumstance, so we use the 'official' numbers to deliver a yardstick by which to compare against other vehicles.
So yes, you're correct that these official figures may not reflect 'reality', but it's the best we can do to try and allow for any meaningful comparison. The fact is 74 mpg is an impressive benchmark to start with, when comparing against other official benchmarks, which is really all we can ask for.
like talking to the wind here, in my humble opinion, everybody can read the brochure but real information comes with real life testing, and that is what i meant, thank you
if you go to the dealership they will say the same things you said, but we want somebody who actually tested it to tell us the real mpg when driven by regular people and not professional drivers
No nissani, itellä rellu ollu jo 7 vuotta
kashkeeeee lol
Vv
Overpriced
