    My 2012 Ti-L is a great car and handles beautifully for an SUV. The X-Trail whilst larger, feels agricultural in comparison.

    Seriously thinking of getting a new N Q 'Tekna' in June but not sure Petrol or Diesel and Manual or Auto ??? as long as it has a good engine 1500 plus - welcome any views please. Test drive booked !! Thank you

    • @Umair166
      @Umair166 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      defo the diesel. the 1.5 diesel I honestly believe is good enough; but you can take the 1.6 if you can handle the sound. the 1.5 almost sounds as quiet as a petrol tbh. automatic manual is your choice really.

    I live in valleys - can anyone comment on how the 1.2 xtronic copes with hill/mountain roads with a full car?
    I'm a bit worried if there's enough power/torque.
    Thanks.

      @gw493 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      1500 is flat and you have to ride the cluch to get some power to stop it kangarooing, there's terrible flat spot at low speed let alone on a hill start, don't buy very unreliable and got dpf also.

    How about comparing this with the Nissan Rogue.

    • @syxepop
      @syxepop 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jose Saavedra, the NoAm Rogue (X-Trail in EU and JDM) is ~ 10" (25 cm.) longer than the Qashqai, which will allow Nissan to import it from UK (along with the Merc-platformed/engined Infiniti Q30/QX30) as A SEPARATE MODEL at a lower price than the Rogue's (starting MSRP "just hitting" USD 20K).
      The engine (or the name, hope they don't use this one that's so difficult to spell in English or worse, in Spanish...) to be used hasn't been spelled out (if I had to choose from the model's parts-bin, the MR20DE, the same NA 140hp 2.0L that was used in the B16 Sentra might be the prime candidate for US-spec). It's still ~ -35hp from the NA 2.5L on the US-spec Rogue.

      I cannot confirm the petrol engines but the diesel DCI engine is found on Renault and Dacia cars as well.

      +WhiskyPentruFete It's a Renault engine I had a 13 plate 1.5 dCi 360 model and now have a Megane Estate, exactly the same engine, difference being the Megane is £20 a year VED against the Qashqai £130 IIRC and does 10mpg more than I could get out of the Qashqai.

    This review tells you absolutely nothing about the car that you couldn't find out by seeing one in a Nissan showroom. I have now owned one for nearly 2 years and I can confirm that it is probably the most boring, unimaginative car that I've ever driven. Why did I buy it? To carry my two dogs when I go into the country for a walk - and yes, the dogs enjoy riding in the back. What don'tr I like about it? The ride is "spongy", going around a roundabout is like rolling about on a waterbed, you are not quite sure where you are going to end up, so (whatever you do) don't corner quickly! Probably designed for Britain's ageing geriatric population, the car comes with "stop-start" ignition and an automatic handbrake: both are a complete waste of time. The stop-start does not like being woken-up quickly - say if you are at traffic lights - and (combined with the auto-handbrake) contributes to the car stalling more than it should. I've driven cars for 35 years but I've probably stalled this car more in the past 2 years than I've stalled other "normal" cars in the previous 33 years. Unfortunately when you stall, as the car has a push-button ignition, you have to allow time for the ignition system to reset - that takes about 5 seconds but (as anyone will know) 5 seconds at standstill holding-up traffic at the lights seems about 5 minutes to everyone else behind you in the queue. The stop-start ignition is also very taxing on the car battery, and it will need replacing possibly every 3 years at a cost of at least £250. I'm not sure what lifespan the clutch has on the car, but it will not be long as the auto-handbrake requires considerable revs to be applied before it releases, so you will soon get used to the burning clutch smell. The auto-handbrake will probably work better in areas without any slopes. Finally, the air-con. I've driven air-con cars for maybe 25 years but this air-con is the weakest I've come across, even when just re-charged (at a cost of £150 and only available at a Nissan dealer). The air-con is totally inadequate at temperatures in the sun over 22-deg Centigrade. Why have I kept it? It has 4 wheels and is reliable, and I average over 40mpg driving 15000 miles a year.

      Alps P, think more into the 35 MPBG on the city and 50 MPBG on the highway, even on the lesser-powered 1.5L TDI. You know those EU fuel efficiency numbers are "milked" by the manufacturers. Maybe someone "hypermiling" may approach the posted numbers, but I'd doubt it...

    • @Umair166
      @Umair166 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +syxepop Actually, I've got a 1.5 diesel 15 plate qashqai, and I must say they're pretty good on fuel economy lol. However, to be more realistic with you, it's approx 45mpg on city, and about 55 on motorway. That being said, when doing around 50-60 constant on motorway, I've gotten 70.3mpg(my record) recorded on the dash. It is a pretty economical car mate...

    • @syxepop
      @syxepop 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Umair166, if those are Imperial Gallons, rather than US Gallons (2 different animals) the numbers you just gave drop closer to what I gave you in my last post, but in US Gallons, rather than Imperial (close numbers on different standard, what would you know?)...
      45 IMPG = ~ 37.5 UMPG or 6.28L /100 km. (CITY)
      55 IMPG = ~ 46 UMPG or 5.14L/100 km..(HWY)
      70.5 IMPG = ~ 58.5 UMPG or 4L/100 km.(Hypermiling)
      The L/100 km. is the OTHER fuel compsumption measure used in the rest of Europe (as a comparison for a certain part of our YT audience).
      Now with VW's Dieselgate being public (wasn't in July '15) , even though I would suspect that Nissan European diesel engines do have the DEF/Urea emissions-reduction system and would probably pass both EU and US newer emission standards, it would be more difficult for non-luxury marques to offer TDi in passenger cars in USDM for the near future...

    no.11 both versions of the qashqai have terrible quality issues because a lot of the parts are actually Renault parts.
    I was considering buying one of these until I stumbled across the massive quantity of videos and comments on the internet from owners that have nothing but grief when they own one. Engine problems, gearbox problems, corrosion problems, electrics problems etc.
    Terrible service from the dealers also with owners being left waiting weeks for repairs due to parts availability problems
    Doesnt matter how well you design a car if you have the French incharge of the parts that keep it running
