Too bad a church or friend couldn't put him in a bed for a time until he could get his income restored. Insofar as our government is concerned, they are more apt to spend money on war than on their own.

Age discrimination is alive and well.......those that discriminate forget that they too will be old one day.....some employers a missing out on the life experience of a senior citizen that is abled bodied, reliable, loyal and really wants to be there.

It's just going to get worse as more and more automated systems replace manual labor jobs.

  • @nameddduser9678

Yes , he is trying to talk about the difficulties from the systems including the lack of governmental policies to save their citizens to get off from the street eventually.
Not just the government but other organizations with companies should work together to help the people.
He could finally find somewhere to work and live but he would get older day after day, and would need the care from others .
Felt the contradictions so many times and this situation seems to be so tough for people and this man is also old to endure to live a life on the street.

Sir DON"T return to housing? Go buy a sail boat, buy a trailer from Harbor freight and build a sleep pod with AC. You do it right you can pay somebody to move it to a new town if you need. Make it small just big enough to sleep in so it does not cost a lot of fuel to run a generator to power your AC. I BOUGHT one already finished it is 4'x8'x36" I got it used for $2K if I bought a new one it would cost me $4K after taxes.
I towed it home from MS to LA couple hours drive I got 30 MPG at 60 mph slower I go the better my economy is with this unit but past 60 it goes way down. I have a Honda generator I bought for $600 and I can take this some place tuck it away in the woods nobody has to know I have it and I can sleep quite well no matter the temp. I want to install a battery and a solar panel so I can have solar light fan and computer.
They THROW AWAY boats that are no longer fit for speed boats but they float all day long sure you might have to repair a crack but a little work and you can have a place to sleep add a generator and an AC you solar panel you have a way to stay cool. You can live on a boat like that you don't stay there all day you get on land ride your motorized bicycle to the places you want to go I would go to the mall and find a job so I could enjoy some AC. WTF a janitor can earn good money working in the mall and get to enjoy the AC. Save that money for your next purchase and get yourself where you never suffer want again. Key is get things that pay for themselves.
The most efficient fridge freezer, a good riffle, a tiller, a pump, solar panels and good batteries, if you lived on a boat one could design a heat pump system that used the water to chill the air. A radiator water pump and fan you have a low power heat pump. Water is almost always cooler than the air.

I believe that you are on the right track!?? But it can't always work that way! Sounds similar to what I've been threw! I gave It my last harrah! By building a boat. I was about 80 percent done , when the local politicians, using crooked cops confiscated everything thing I had! NO MATTER WHAT LAWS THAT EXITED!! THE COPS SAID THEY DIDN'T ANY LAWS- AS THEY ARE THE LAW!! They were working for the local rent CARTELS, that were afraid people might find boating as a cheap way of avoiding high rents!! They used the exuse of the environmental concerns as there use of action.!! Made me totally homeless and destroyed my health as a result! Lost many years of my life and lost about $100K of extremely hard to earn money. ALL BECAUSE OF THEIR SELFISH GREED! To old to start over!

Housing went up 330% in the decade of the 80s. Back when the Japanese were buying up USA prices went up after the Japanese lost their roll in their great depression the people did not return the rents to former levels.

This story sounds sad like all the stories of the homeless, but I can't believe that Social Security made a mistake and if he is a vet, he should get a pension.
I don't believe that noone wants to hire him.
I am 75, f, worked since I was 18, put myself through college with full time work and although I can't travel much or spend ridiculous amounts of money, I have learned to live rally well. My Social Security is my main income. I was able to furnish and decorate my little condo to make it beautiful and workable. I love to paint, art, which was my major in Austin, Texas.
I am planning now to work part time ( maybe at Michaels) to save to be able to purchase a tiny house by the time I am 80. I love animals and volunteer in rescues and love to container garden on my little patio.
I have had 9 joint surgeries in ten years from working too hard in catering when I was putting myself through college.
I have a lot of self respect/ love for all that I have accomplished all alone without family. I don't have any close relatives or children.
I don't mean to sound self righteous but the old saying *God helps those who help themselves*, or as my father used to say *if you do something, do it well or not at all*. Those
wisdoms were embedded in my head and with a huge imagination and capabilities I taught myself, I have a quiet but exciting life.

'Blooper'? I'd call that a 'royal fuck up'. But, of course, what else would you expect from the Social Security Administration. This guy didn't deserve this to happen to him.

Poor planning on his part didn't cause social security to mess up on his check, that was social security's fault only; it happens more often than you'd like to believe.

Alcoholic for sure. I might be homeless soon and I don't use drugs or drink or even use caffeine. I give myself a month before I find work and place to stay. A lot of these people are just insane or lazy.

So you judge him straight away. So when you become homeless we all say alcoholic or drugs for sure. That's so disgusting of you to say that. I can't believe that. So your a drug user thats why your going to be homeless... im judging you straight away because you judge this poor old guy..
