- Is this recent technology for the new Trek Slash really worth it? Well I’m about to find out cause my brand new enduro bike is here and has some special touches to it! So excited to jump on this thing and really see what it can do.
Want the same handlebar/stem/grip set up as me? Click here: pnwcomponents....
Want the same brakes as me? Click here: hayesbicycle.c...
Very cool that you buy so many bikes to test them and share it with us !
Thanks mark! Glad you like
@@LewisBuchananhow’s the bike going since the chain came off few times
That video explaining the pivot system actually helped loads, never knew the difference other than the looks tbh, cool!
Glad I put it in there
I’ve just derestricted my eMTB. Now that does make you move quickly! Few, that took some typing, someone pass my a pie😂
I hope you like it! I personally liked the previous generation more as someone who appreciated how well that last one pedaled uphill. I feel like shock tunes and general geo/leverage curve are more important than the rearward axel path. I think DW bikes and maybe the Yetis are onto something far more than the High Pivot bikes.
I hope so too haha
How do you know if you likes it more if this just came out? Have you tested it for a while now? I have a slash of the prev gen 2... riddled between bgetting this new one.. Idk why
in was a little skeptical about the yellow accents at first, but when you show the whole bike in a shot it ends up working really well. nice!
🙌🏽
I love the "fingers crossed that I dont" part when referring to problems with the upper idler. Thank you so much for addressing the problems with it though. I was gonna get a slash until I learned about all the idler issues. Fuel ex for now, and then look into a slash next season if they fix the problem
Love your no bullshit vids mate. Just tell it how it is.
Will be interested to see what you think of it.
Can't wait to see you shredding it!🇳🇵
This thing looks sick! Im so stoked to see what ur impressions are. Im thinking of buying the new Slash too.
im absolutley in love with the PNW stuff, my first dropper ever and its been a season and a half with no issues other than it doesnt fit my new frame
It’s epic huh
Sram calls that new derailleur that mounts right to the frame Sram Transmission, Amazing system, supposedly capable of 600 lbs of lateral force and its fully rebuildable. UDH like you said is actually the type of derailleur hanger that Sram came out with to urge bike companies to build all new bikes with UDH, they did this because any bike that comes with UDH Is capable of running Sram Transmission, meaning bike companies have been designing their bikes to be Sram transmission compatable, without even knowing it until the announcement of Sram Transmission.
New bike day is always the best. Sick rig.
Heck yeah
I also bought an aluminum Slash.
Your video is very interesting.
thank you.
The commencal supreme and nukeproof decent looks good 👍
I will have to agree the PNW Range bar and stem are amazing! I kept having arm pump and numb shoulders when I was riding since upgrading to PNW products-- no more numb shoulders or arm pump. Great product referral! the Delium versatile reinforced tires...I have bombed 10 sets of stairs and ridden trails. No pinch flats they feel amazing first few goes with them the grip went you are in a berm is incredible they really come to life (lack of better terms)
good luck in race!
Awesome to hear! Thanks!!!
I absolutely love my sets of Enve m735 wheels until I need to swap tires as their rim strips are a pain in the ass to break the beads.
Very very cool, and 2 new bike vids in 2 weeks? So stoked for you man
Thanks Peter! Stoked
@@LewisBuchanan also still rocking the tyres you recommended to me a couple years back, still ripping! Appreciated man
Congrats 🎉 Have fun with the new bike
Thanks
Good luck keeping the chain on this bike!
A technological work of art. Wow.
🙌🏽
Was looking at them today in the treck shop (next to dobbies at Dalkeith) nice in the blue.....
Nice!
Have you seen the POLE downhill bike?? That thing is mental looking and super progressive by all accounts. A proper big hitter.
dude love this shit. I hope you find a sponsor that rewards you handsomely for your work, but the fact you can buy a bike and review it honestly
Thanks so much Erik
10:23m This bike looks soo amazing. Just really beautiful.
Looks n I’d huh
Nice*
Might be my personal opinion but i think 2021-2022 and 2023 slash frames were stunning looking. 24 was imo a less eyepleasing. That double pivot makes it even worse. Idk about the performance, but visually imo it was big downgrade and i rarely say anything bad about Trek. I have 2022 carbon slash and was looking forward to maybe sell mine and get the new one. But i think ill keep it. But hope you enjoy the bike.
Proper nice, can't wait for the ride review
Cheers!
It's definitely a good looking bike.
I've demoed a few high pivots... weirdly i just can't get on with them. I'm quite a "jibby"/active/playful rider and I tend to find they don't respond well to riders who want to pump the trail. They just feel kinda mushy to me. Glad they exist and I'm sure for riders who spend most of their time ploughing through steep rough or racing tbey really come in to their own. Curious to see how you get on with it.
Interesting! I’ll see how it goes eh
I’ve always been the same, the only high pivot that I’ve loved and found super playful was the Cannondale Jekyll, definitely worth a try imo
That bikes looking sick bro can’t wait to see some riding in it
Thanks
Looks way better with the Ohlins 👏
For a downhill bike I highly recomend You a specialized demo
really awesome video! what a dream bike! It would be sick to see your thoughts on the specialized enduro
Thanks
Sweet rig. I think it’s hysterical that the newest thing in non-electric mtbs is a technology that the industry has known about and used for like 30 years. I bet it will be like lying on marshmallow pillows on a feather bed going down. Wonder how the pedaling will be- that has always been issue with idlers.
I'm glad to see you picked up the metal version because that's the one I'm considering 💸 if it holds up for you it's good enough for me 😛
Nice’
Loving the look of this mate...
Cheers
Loving the new shirt, count me in if you do a merch drop 😃
Cheers
commencal supreme DH V5, get it. It wins every race and shreds hard asf
💪🏽
I suggested a trek a few month ago but i wouldnt now! Carbon chain stay was first to crack within the first couple weeks. Mine is the Fuel Exe, Had the standard software glitches but just now im having to replace the cranks as one bent hitting something and pedal thread is knackered (the ethirteen cranks must be made of plastercene) You get a hex key that locks onto rear wheel thru axle and also fits the front wheel so naturally you would think you could use it for both except you cant get a full turn on front wheel since it hits the fork lower, the dropper post is too short. Pretty crap for an £8k bike!
Yikes! I mean this is alloy. So hopefully no probs
Which enve wheels are those? Am30?
Ooh that bike looks slick with the ohlins suspension on it 🤤
Thanks!
Man I love my nuckproof mega 290 but this bike got me excited for parks gotta let me know how it's dose def get frame and do 180 fork
Super sick bike! Looking forward to see you do some ripping on it!
Thanks
Also…. Delium Tyres. Very interested in these and I know you like them, but…. it’s been ages since we heard they’re looking for a U.K. distributor. I wonder how many of us here have bought Conti’s simply for want of not being able to import Delium easily? Sorry to nag 😂
About half a year ago, I was wanting to get the old trek slash. But I decided they were too expensive for what you get, so I got a 2022 Norco Range c1. Lewis, I know you've had your experiences with them 😂but I love mine, and I will be soon putting a fox 40 kashima onto it and making it even more downhill capabe. But now, I actually love the look, and the new design of the trek slash and I'm curious of how it is going to go for you, for the rest of the year!
Nice! Thanks for the comment
bros got more bikes than chain reaction haha love it!
Thanks
Get on an Atherton bike dude?
Could do a demo day at Dyfi for a video?
Great run but very frustrating with the chain coming off, could be the GX drivetrain that’s the issue. That’s an expensive bike with the cheapest SRAM drivetrain, I upgraded my GX and worked great but cost me a lot of money 😢
🙌🏽
Great vid as aslways 🤙 what’s happening with the propain spindrift you had ? Hoping to see more videos on that
Thanks! I sold it! It was nice but not my fave. Had trouble setting up the rear end with how the shock worked
@@LewisBuchanan ahh fair one. Good luck this weekend 👍
@jordandavies7641 thanks man
sick bike ! I was keeping an eye on that one to build from frame. It would be sick if you could report on a couple of things. Chain drag, pedaling, nimbleness. I also would like to know what made you go for AL instead of Carbon. Cheers mate !
Hi, nice bike! Really good. Was also on the norco range.
Which rims do you have? Are these new ones from enve? Alao have the m9 …;)
Probably going too for that bike. Hope a vid is coming soonish. Maybe get pnw components…will be testing.
Awesome! These are enve rims…haha. Video dropping next week most likely from riding the trek
@@LewisBuchananthank you!
Cool bike
How would you compare it to the Norco Range?
Thanks! No idea, we’ll see when I ride it and do a video on it
@@LewisBuchanan lookin forward to that
I know you've just bought the Trek, would like to see you ride a Forbidden though
I would too. I emailed them about when Druid v2 are in stock. But got absolutely no answer 😂 and that was weeks ago
Rely nice build but the worst thing you could do was to swap out the shock. The new vivid is crazy good and have eliminated al the coils.
Ah I love the ohlins cool
Coil
Looks similar(ish) to the new Hope, which is no bad thing. For DH bikes, what about a Antidote Darkmatter, or a Unno Ever (if you can get one), maybe a Atherton Downhill.200?
The antidote is one I’d love to try
amazing, a high pivot 4bar linkage, just like your old bike
Lewis, great build and a genuine surprise! Looking forward to hear you comparing the two on similar sections once dialed in 🎉
cant wait to see you start racing more!! you thinking of staying in the country or go worldwide??
Thanks. I’ll be racing in 2024 all over the world yes
Could never get along with the egg beaters. Always managed to bend the mechanism on root strikes. Back to SPDs.
bike looks fire bro 🔥🔥🔥
Big up! Cheers
that mount for the AXS gear selector is fugly! surely theres something more stealth than an exhaust clamp design
Got one coming tomorrow
Looking sick mate
Thanks
Do you still have the propain and the airdrop? Fleet check video soon?
Don’t have those anymore. Full review from this bike dropping week
id love to hear what your thoughts were on the druid and what issues you had?
Druid was a fun bike. I wasn’t a fan of the dreanaught. Will report back if any issues w this idler bike
thank you!! thinking of dropping down from a spec enduro to a v2 druid@@LewisBuchanan
Thats mint mate
Cheers
2 new bikes in a few days. Sick
Fun times
Interested to see how you get along with the ml..
I say that because i ride the previous model in ml and I'm only 5,9 and it feels cramped sometimes..cheers
Find out soon I guess
You are soo coooool!!
Living the dream mate trying all these bikes, what's this now bike no5?
Fun times
How do you find the 10deg of back sweep on the handlebars?
I love it honestly. Great feeling bar
I’m interested, do you size a bike using RAD?
What’s rad? Sorry for my crap knowledge haha
Rider Area Distance. The reach from the pedals to the bars when you are locked out. There is a video on it on “joy of bike” link below
th-cam.com/video/rHagRovHSYs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XrqxCRFzI-qq5CV9
@leetori1 I learned something new everyday haha! Thanks I’ll check
Maybe you can check your bikes to see if your best bikes have an accidental rad setup. I’d certainly watch the video sharing the results. I’m a bike fitter but for road, TT, xc, and cyclocross. I used this for my trail bike which I love. I’m new to mtb though so my opinion is worthless
What do you do with the parts that you take off the slash and the torque
I’ll sell them
How heavy is it? Does it feel much heavier than similar build carbon fibre enduro bike
It’s a rather heavy bike tbh. I’ll weight it and get back to ya
So let me get this right, the rear wheel will move backwards when it hits a bump = good, BUT the rear wheel must also return forwards to its original postion and if it hits a bump on its return the forces are increased and make it worse... which is why Virtual Pivot is there for this reason and trek along with so many others are stuck on some marketing bullshite
🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ if anyone can discuss here. To help better understand that would be great.
Omg I'm torn between this bike or yeti sb160? Just watching your vid now!
Heck yeah!
@@LewisBuchanan which one?😂👊
Defo grab a shirt bro 👌
Appreciate that
Love it.
Thanks
sick bike!
Thanks
I never encountered the harsh ride that beat up my legs part...wtf?😂
Didn't you have that tech on your Forbidden Dreadnought 3 years ago?
yea without the chaindrop technology, 😂
Had a look on the new Slash. Very interesting bike, but it’s overpriced in my opinion. I’ve ultimately decided on a Deviate Claymore and I absolutely don’t regret going high Pivot. You definitely feel the rearward axle path and it feels superior
Nice! That’s totally fair
how tall is you?
That looks schweeeeet! I’ve never ridden a high pivot bike but I’d like to, especially with the Ö suspension. Niiiiiiice 🤘❤️🌈🕊️🌎
Thanks
THEY SHIPPED IT WITH THE FRONT WHEEL ON?
😂😂
alloy👌
What are you doing with all these after the fact?
I sell it on once I’m done with it
i think the slash might make a better free ride dh bike than the canyon
I’ll put a dual crown on this at some point
I owned the gen before and I rode this one and I thought it was a pretty big step backwards
Interesting. Time will tell
@@LewisBuchananyeah I rode the new slash and a deviate claymore back to back all day on Saturday and the claymore blew the slash away in every way except full on bike park jump trails. Tech climbs, janky steeps, fast tech the deviate was better. Interested to see what you think of it
Haha some one have gone on a shopping spree!!
😂
A forbidden dh bike!
I’d like to try that. Any hints on when it will be out, let me know people!!!
Soooo…..any bike that does not have a high pivot design is a bad design? And does not work?
I’ll be good to hear your thoughts on how it compares to the forbidden you had
Indeed
lol I watched the videos in reverse so I know the outcome of this bike, it does lookgreat though. shame about its shortcomings
💯
Find a balfa BB7, that bike was such a classic. Haha
whats next
🤷🏼♂️
@@LewisBuchanan you should get a free ride bike or a downhill bike and put a single crown fork on it and make a slopduro
would u want another bike sponsor? just curious 😁
If a brand was to happen to approach me I’d for sure entertain it
Surprised you went ml..your guna want the large
Sic 🔥
🔥
so great to see all the 'jealous' people have finally left these comments
😂 yeah some people can’t just be happy for others that are enjoying what they do ya know. Good community on here so I’m stoked though
Debatable if the new tech will make you faster unless you only ride the gnarliest trails. The previous gen Slash will definitely pedal better without the idler.
I bet you didn't think the next video was going to be what it was😔
Omg what a disaster.
