PAINTING OVER PAINTED WALLPAPER - Prep, Project, and Results (Timelapse)

- This house has a lot of wallpaper and many rooms already have painted wallpaper. I don't want to delve into pulling it all off so I am about to paint over painted wallpaper. In this video, I show some prep, the project timelapse, and the before and after.
We are heading into a renovation journey after buying a 80's fixer-upper. There is a lot going on with this house, and we will just have to bite a little bit off at a time to get it done. We're in this for the long haul!

Val, that choice of paint is really nice. It makes the room look more spacious and a feel of calmness.
Get a syringe and fill with glue, squirt in bubble and press easily on syringe to not fill bubble to full, too quickly. Inject and use tip of gloved finger to move glue up and down seam of wall paper. Good luck. Your new home is looking great!!

I would spackle it with a thin coat where the seam is coming apart. I also love the color you chosen. I’m use to you on fb so glad you are here on the tube. I prefer it much better. Hope Jess is enjoying the new house. You got it! 🥰🤗

Idk why but it seems like the harder I try to not make a mess the more mess I make when painting especially when there’s new flooring involved lol!! Great job, ladies! I think it looks so much brighter, almost gives the illusion the ceilings are higher. During the time lapse of the painting I was having anxiety since it was sped up and i was thinking "Woah, woah! slow down with that roller! Careful!" LOL. Thanks for taking us along with your progress. So fun and satisfying as each project is ticked off the list ✅💛
Sorry to trigger anxiety. 😄 I know what you mean about the ceilings. I especially enjoyed watching that part of the transformation as the edge was cut in at the top. Such a difference.

where the wallpaper bubbled, you could make a slit with razor blade and they push some glue in. Your ladies hard work is paying off.

I never thought you can paint over wallpaper.
I’ve done it in the past, and at least once the paper bubbled up pretty badly. It can be a gamble depending on how the paper was put up originally, and prep is really important too for that first time before painting. If this paper hadn’t already been painted or if it hadn’t been as secure to the wall as it was, I would have been more nervous about it.

Val your room is beautiful, you are all doing an incredible job and I hope you get the wallpaper sorted out. Although I feel once you've settled in and got prints on the wall etc it won't be as noticeable perhaps. But it's all looking so beautiful.

Use an iron on low heat and see if that will heat up the old glue and make it seal properly

It is soooo much easier to just paint the wall paper. It is very very time consuming and tedious. You can actually ruin the wall peeling wall paper if not done correctly
Peeling wallpaper can sometimes be easy and other times a complete nightmare leading to the need for extensive wall repair. That’s happened to me at least once. It all depends on how the paper was hung up originally.
I understand painting over that wallpaper 🤗 taking all that down would be a nightmare🙄, I just don't understand the original people putting up painted wallpaper to begin with 🤔🧡🧡🧡

We're redoing our home, including all new wiring for electrical. Have that part done now it's time for the bathroom remodel. Then drywall and painting, then all new flooring.
You women are doing an awesome job, I love the paint color. You both are working so hard but it's coming along. I can't believe you didn't use painters tape around the base boards etc ..lol I would have had a mess lol

I did tape in Jessica’s room, which was the first room I painted. But I have a pretty steady hand, and have found I make just as much of a mess, or more, with tape than without.

Jess will have her Disney princess collection on her bed, but I’m not sure of an overall theme yet.

Val, Amazon sells a syringe for glue application in tight spaces

pin prick the bubbles then put repir glue on that and paint
You could use a razor knife and make a slit in the seam area and then use the insulin needle and put some glue under the flap. It might allow better control of how much is needed to make the paper lay flat. The color is beautiful

I am keeping it for now for budget reasons since there are many other expenses coming up. I’ll eventually change it out with something more my style.
