HB Rock crawler is better value for money. Batteries will be cheaper to replace as it only takes a 4AA battery pack, we're as the big foot takes a 7AA battery pack, and I hear the big foot battery drains out faster than the HB Crawler. So you will have a longer usage time with the HB Crawler.

I've upgraded my 1/18 HB with a cheap $11 HobbyKing brushed esc (with built in Lipo cutoff), a compact 2s 1200 mah lipo meant for electric planes, a proper standard servo and a specktrum receiver. This thing now has some serious crawling power and is variable speed. I'm now able to CRAWL up rocks and other objects slowly. This thing now has some real torque and control!
Disassembly is SUPER easy, everything is screwed together from the factory, so you shouldn't have to cut or destroy anything on the body or chassis to take it apart. You will need to remove the esc/receiver board and the servo on the front, but it's very simple to do.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using a 7.4v lipo battery, you must set the max throttle to ~50% so you don't burn out the motors. They MAY be able to handle 7.4v for a short while, but I believe the 2 motors will probably overheat and wear out fast as they are rated for 3.8v I believe. Also, you CAN use the factory servo horn, but you will probably need to enlarge the hole to fit it on a standard size servo...again, not at all difficult. These upgrades took me about 1.5 hours.
