    Everybody else's scraps always look more interesting than mine!

    I recently made a large crumb quilt for use as a beach blanket...was so much fun...I did curate the colors though...used scraps from about 5 different 'lines' of Moda fabric...but I had enough of this to make a huge quilt anyways...some of small crumbs, and some I left as larger pieces throughout...was one of my fav. ways to make a quilt...

    A “ridiculous amount” of scraps is 2 big totes full! Spot on explanation for crumb blocks. I love doing this. Zen sewing!

      I had a lot more before we moved from Georgia to Texas, but I don’t think I had quite that much! You win! 🤣 thank you!

      A really great way if you have a lot is put them in colours like all the green and all blue and so on sewing them together and kind of make FQ or yardage out of them to make Other stuff out of it.

    I just found your video 💕💕and subscribed! I don’t sew very much but I have been watching these crumb quilt videos and love them!! Since I have very few scraps or really none… I bought. Add lot of fat quarters…. Somehow scraps looks more fun and appealing. But cut the quarters in all sizes to get the scrap affect. Lots of the quarters are very thin.. which I don’t like. But still have enjoyed the experience of sewing again… thank you💜

    You're such a neat crumb quilter! I always make a mess with bits and pieces everywhere! I like to chain a bunch of pieces and then put them together until I have enough length and width for a block. Awesome video!

    I just started sewing and have lots of scraps too small for accessories and facemasks. I think this is the perfect solution! Thanks! Would you need a backing if you made clothing with the scrap crumb fabric?

    • @JordanneCary
      @JordanneCary  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think we all have a bunch of scraps for that reason as well! I would probably do a lining of sorts if you use the crumb quilt pieces for clothing. I say that only because there are so many seams that it might be irritating to the skin, and it would be a shame to put in that much work and never wear it!

  • @tummymummy0867

    Nice tutorial. But don't be afraid to use seams that are not 90 degrees, you cut out a lot of fussing around if you use those left over triangles as they are and trim the block to size at the end.

    I have pizza boxes in 3 different sizes filled with my crumb boxes. I'm fixed to add them in quilts for the family for Xmas. I'm wondering if they will recognize their old clothes I hacked up and incorporated into the blocks :)

      The more daunting task is the 4 boxes of T-shirts my daughters collected over the years from Camps, Band, Elementary-College interests, Volunteer projects etc.. My oldest is 29 and is still waiting on her T shirt quilt. I don't think she realizes she has about 5 quilts worth. I just found out she's pregnant yesterday and am thinking about using some of her old clothes on baby blankets and baby cloths.

    I put backing down, then batting, THEN sew every size, shape, colour through three layers. Then join together?

    Don’t fuss so much. Sew them all together, every shape. They don’t all have to be squares or rectangles. Try a triangle....anything....

    I hate to say it but it’ll make me feel better......crumb quilting is NOT for everyone. I’ve just spent an hour trying to make something out of crumbs....and I’m too anal. It’s not for structured ppl.
