    Thanks! After watching 20 videos where everyone just recommends to replace the pressure switch, the genius in this video recommends to just tap on it a bit to see if you can get it to reset if it's stuck open or closed. And it worked!

    My heat wouldn’t come on and after searching my furnace and model number, I had found how to read the code. Next I searched the code on TH-cam and found this video. I did exactly what the tech said to try and it worked!!!!! Many Thanks to you!!!!! So much appreciated!!!!!

    Man, this just saved me a whole ton of time and money. Although my switch is different, I disconnected the line going to it and found some moisture there. After carefully drying it out and reconnecting, the system fired right up. Like and subscribed. Cheers!

    Sharing what I found, the exhaust pipe was constricted with ice due to the humidifier and it being -11 deg F last night. After checking all in the video last thing mentioned was the exhaust pipe. Sure enough there was ice on the outside port. I ran a hair dryer from the furnace for 30 minutes and it cleared it right up. HEAT!!!

Thanks so much, (I like your video you don't drag around like other people you get right to the point good job)

      Hi this is exactly what I experience right now. When i turn the furnace off, it works the first cycle fine, but once the heat drops again, it never fires up giving "switch stuck closed error. I am wondering, did you manage to get it resolved? What was the problem? I really appreciate your response.

    I have a single stage Day and Night furnace high efficiency furnace that has been giving me fits for years with the pressure switch "did not close or reopened" fault. Happens every year "winter" without fail.
    I've checked the tubes and hoses running to the switch itself and they are clean. I've used a vacuum to clean out the condensate trap. The exhaust is 2 inches and runs roughly 33ft out the side of the house at an upward slope. Per the instructions manual the max run of 2 inch pipe is 56ft. I've cleaned out the exhaust pipe with a dryer vent cleaner, no obstructions. The pressure switch has been replaced. Conbustion air supply is feed from a unfinished basement, so should be adequate. The inducer runs fine and I don't see any issues with it. The switch is reopening. The furnace runs for several minutes and then shuts down. This cycle is repeated three times before shutting down one last time and giving me the thee blinks code.
    Not sure what else to do at this point.

    • @GarenP
      @GarenP 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you ever get it fixed or figured out? This is called "short cycling" I believe, and the same problem I'm having - furnace will only run for about 6-8 minutes at a time.

    • @ramblinman7153
      @ramblinman7153 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GarenP Yes, we got it figured out. The furnace only had a 2“ exhaust. I replaced it with a 3". Haven't had any issues since.

    Do a continuity Test on the pressure switch or Ohms test. If the switch is closed you would read zero on the meter and if it is open you would get an OL ( over limit, open line or infinity ) reading.

    Just an update from Lennox. They don't warranty if you want to be proactive. If you DIY your pressure switch and then phone the company for warranty they will not warranty the switch. So let your house freeze, pipes burst, etc. then phone the company even though you know that there is a problem.

  • @--_DJ_--
    @--_DJ_-- 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wish I knew what fixed mine. It was blinking 3 lights for open. I checked the drain, found a bit of water in a larger line from the exchanger to the exhaust had a bit of water in it, but not much. Took the switches off of the bracket, removed and blew through the tubes, all good. Nothing to be seen in the ports on the switch. Put it back together, same thing. Turned the thermostat up to 25, cycled it once, same thing. I had given up and pressed the door button one last time to confirm my failure and it worked! Not knowing what fixed it is almost worse than it being still broken.

    I might be wrong, usually if there are 2 pressure switches, that means that the furnace is a 2 stage furnace. Also, I disconnected the house from wherever it leads to and I gently sucked and blew on it. You can hear a faint click.

    Pisses me off that most places only sell to licensed hvac guys. It's a scam. Couple years ago my inducer motor fan sheared off, local guys wanted 900+ to replace whole motor. I just needed a $30 fan. Temps were -10 and it was Christmas so ordering online wasn't a great option due to the wait. I finally found a company that wrote me an invoice but charged me $90 just to pick up from local supply house. I fixed it myself but the whole licensing racket is a scam.

      If you took your own advise you would find that by by-passing a pressure switch, even if you do it 'correctly' you'd find that you would only get 1 cycle of the furnace. The circuit board designers do that so people like you don't kill yourselves or worse, kill your customers. Don't give advise if you don't know what you are talking about.
