I just went to the dollar store yesterday for cleaning supplies and realized that I could get all this stuff for under five bucks and have enough material to do probably 1000 linear feet.
Awesome!
facts! It's extremely affordable!
no need to spend 1000$ on overpriced ebony stains anymore!
It blackens oak. Other woods will be various colors of brown.
The wood I have is a dark gray (pine T&G). I used this in my walk-in closet.
excellent. Quick and to the point. No yammering.
that's the way we like it!
You can also do this if you have rusty old nails sitting around too. Same idea. Mason jar, fill with vinegar, 2-3 days later, wax on wax off.
Vinagroon. Blackens tannins.
The stain has also darkened over time- I’ve used this in several projects
Fair!
Is it food safe to?
How long until it oxidizes and turns red?
I did this in my walk-in closet three or four years ago without any negative oxidative side effects.
If I'm not mistaken, different types of vinegars will produce different results/colors.
I put couple drops of black food coloring in mine my favorite stain
Vantablack so its easier to not see that piece of furniture in the dark on the 3am potty run to the bathroom😂.
How long can the steel wool be left in the mason jar?
as long as you want!
365,025 minutes. Not including holidays 🤪
If you want to be technical. I don't know if this guy can handle it.
Why am doing, colour not changing, am try to making blacken toth
Try soaking or apply tea or black coffee to your wood before applying this stain over it the added tannins/tannic acid might help the wood achieve a darker result
Also works for leather.
Only vegtan leather.
does this stain last, or will it fade?
I’ve found that the stain sometimes darkens over time: 1-2 years after staining. I’ve used it in several projects
Is it Stock vinegar? That you used?
Yes! It’s just straight up vinegar you can get at any grocery store
@@ThomasOrrOfficial do you think it matters which kind? And which one did you use?
will the ebonized wood be food safe?
I think just as is it’s not food safe but if you put a finish over the top then it functions as a stain which also isn’t good safe!
You can speed up the process by adding hydrogen peroxide instead of water.
hmmm thats good info to have! This is vinegar in the video but I'll have to try hydrogen peroxide!
Obviously it rusts faster because there is an extra oxygen atom.
It's easier to just buy the stain
If this seems hard. Hahaha
and chicken manure
yes and chicken manure
Steel wool and water is better.
