Tim and his 5+ octave range does it again!

Tim & Avi are very good friends, which is what led to this collaboration. While Avi has always been a basso profundo and could hit low operatic notes, it was Tim who actually taught him how to use the growl voice to go even lower, thus increasing Avi's bass range. Both of them also have impressive higher registers as well. This type of music has always been more of Avi's style than the pop he performed with Pentatonix, so the last shot of Avi removing his trademark beanie and replacing it with a cowboy hat is a nod to this genre, and a kind of "I'm one of you now" gesture. This may have been a sign of things to come, as his solo music is now in a more Country/Folk/Roots/Americana vein. Avi's made appearances in other Home Free videos, but just as a guest character...this was his only singing collaboration with them. I really wish they would do more. Maybe once Covid is a thing of the past, they will do so!

Tim and Austin and Avi all live in the Nashville area so it is quite possible. BTW Avi is doing a virtual concert on the 25th with his band for the first time since last year so things are starting back up little by little for all the bands now.

You're right, Avi's smoothness is special. Like warm chocolate. Tim goes a bit lower but it's more gravel and a lot of breath to it. Avi's is clean and clear.

"it's crazy that Tim can sing up there and hit the lows..." Maybe check out Folsom Prison Blues and/or the Sea Shanty Medley than watch Mayday. You need to hear Chance sing some before hitting up Mayday but it will blow your mind.

Geoff of Voiceplay has his own channel where he sings a bunch of songs (bass cover) like: "The Headless Horseman", "16 Tons", "Blackbird", "The Bare Necessaries", and "Take Me Home Country Road". Voiceplay has a cover of "Carry on Wayward Son" and "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch" that is so amazing that you should really check out.

I love how you "melted" when Avi hit that low note. :) You and I are in total agreement with this song: the two awesome basses from my two favorite acapella groups in one song/video is a dream come true!! Also, thank you for commenting on how long Tim sustained that insanely low note at the end of the song. Pretty much every reactor mentions how low he can sing, but very few mention how long he can sustain those notes, which is just as impressive. Finally, if you want more of Adam displaying his otherworldly skills, check out his drum solo video from one of their concerts. Just be prepared to get knocked off your chair. :)

Additional American a cappella bands - 2 more I would suggest Vocative and Voiceplay. The 3rd big a cappella bass is Geoff Castelluci of Voiceplay who uses subharmonics. Oh Avi can also get pretty high up there as well. Not as high as Tim who has a 6 octave range but pretty high. For Avi in his upper register try his cover of "Hey Ya!" Or "Standing By" with Pentatonix. It has to be a live version they never did a video of him for "Standing By" or "Light in the Hallway". He carries the entire melody in both. For Tim see Homefree's "MayDay". They just will not stay in their bass parts 🙂 Avi also just released a new "Song for the Thankful" done in his upper register that can bookend with his biggest solo hit "Change on the Rise" which is bass. Geoff Castelluci can do the same type of thing. For fun try "Zombies vs Hillbillies" which is Voiceplay vs Homefree. Also Peter Hollens has collaborated with both Tim on the "Misty Mountains" and Avi on "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair". Interesting technique Peter has of layering himself.

There are many more excellent HF performances available...and they continue making more! One of their very best is "Mayday", HOWEVER, save it until you have 5 or 6 of their newer songs under your belt. In order to get maximum enjoyment out of "Mayday", you need to be familiar with all the guys and their voices. You saw Chance in "Man of Constant Sorrow", but you didn't get to hear him solo. He joined HF in 2016 (replacing Chris Rupp) and was not a member at the time they recorded "Ring of Fire." He's featured in more and more of their newer songs -- try "The Gambler," "Some Girls Do," or "American Pie."

Avi has super full sounds. Can't explain it properly but ill try.
It's similar to a Soprano vocalizing a powerful 5th octave chest belt. The belt is full and round. As the soprano goes higher the note thins out. The whistle is the extreme of thinning into inaudible none existence.
Avi has some thiccc vocal cords that make notes sound deeper than they are.
My attempt at explaining actually requires its own explaining.
I feel like a dog chasing a tail, that obnoxious tail it's always one step ahead of me...oh that's my tail.

    Gabbsi
All Aca Pella groups such as Home Free and Pentatonix plus one that you need to react, Voiceplay are good friends with each other and friendly competition. Speaking of Voiceplay, their main bass singer, Geoff Castellucci has his own TH-cam channel. Geoff's vocal range is from 4 to 5 Octaves with subharmonics such as E1. Tim and Avi has same subharmonic levels as Geoff. Geoff does how to do series such as how to sing subharmonic without damaging vocal chords. He does covers too with Voiceplay or solo.
