The 'i hate all my friends, they all lack taste' lyric is such a great line and a baller move from Chino given its clearly aimed at the rest of the band
I'm glad you liked this track! For Deftones, my favorite tracks were on the "Around the Fur" album. I think you would like "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" and "My Own Summer (Shove It)". They are heavier tracks, compared to some of the ones that you've done, but this is how many of us were introduced to the band.
So good to see you again. Havent seen you in a bit with all the slipknot or corey related stuff. Glad to see a Deftones song again!! Love the song. Minerva would be a great song to react to. Love the video and most importantly, love you!!!😊😊
The singer Chino has a side project that I'm in love with and I feel like you would enjoy on a personal level. Please check out Crosses some time. "The Epilogue" is a nice introduction
YES! I can not wait for the new album i'm so excited .. I've seen deftones live 30+ times and Crosses once Chino sounded so much better with crosses then 99% of the deftones shows maybe all of them..
@@chrono050 holy crap I'm jealous! That album means everything to me and I would have loved to see it live in person! Every video I've seen on TH-cam Chino looks so happy playing those songs and you're right he does sound exceptional. Dying to hear their new LP, that Goodbye Horses cover has been on repeat since Christmas LOL
5:00 - It wouldn't surprise me if they raided a lot of trip hop, classic drum and bass, and melodic techno for ideas on layering, mixing, and the kinds of really useful dissonance that make you feel like you're standing in a glorified version of some very real place (very film-scorey in that sense). The atmospherics on Cherry Waves are pretty impressive.
Glad to see you’re doing some more Deftones. I think I heard you say somewhere that you weren’t into them as much as you are into bands like Tool and Slipknot, which is all right, but it’s nice to see you having a go at another song. I would give some recommendations but most of the ones here in the comments are all pretty solid, but I’m surprised you haven’t checked out My Own Summer yet. It’s a respected 1997 classic in their catalog, and isn’t the heaviest they’ve ever released, but it would be the heaviest you’ve heard from them as of now, still with some very breathy vocals
It'd be interesting to see you react to one of they're heavier songs. Every song they have is great so it's hard to choose. Mabey Hexagram, Rocket Skates, Elite, 7 Words, Engine no. 9 or if you want to hear their newer songs try Ohms. Thanks!
@@crowsheadband5020 actually root was the very first song I heard by them and the first song I learned to play on guitar from them. Root has a special place in my heart
Future Deftones reax: Hearts/Wires and Phantom Bride (featuring phenomenal guitar work from Jerry Cantrell of AIC) - both so powerful, yet beautiful and emotional at the same time. Or if you just want a straight, self-empowering motivational rocker, Tempest.
This was their debut song, this song put them on the map! He was very literal in this song, it's about his struggle with suicide after the other members were picking on him for taking too long with writing songs, back then they didn't have a healthy relationship, but they got through it. R.i.P. Chi we will never forget you!
Yeah, not their strongest single, not a bad song tho. Chino was going through a divorce (I think?) living in the other coast while the rest of the band recorded the record and also on heavy drug abuse at the time. So the subtle lyrics right here hehe If you really liked digital bath and cherry waves the most should definitely check "xerces", "976-evil", "sextape", "Minerva" or even "entombed" out sometime.

its was a joke towards them because they were rushing him to finish the album lmao
@@VaaaannniiiI sang it very earnestly at home lmfao
I absolutely love this song! You have to do Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) next, it’s a masterpiece.
Appreciate the reaction. Really enjoy this one as well. A song with a beautiful melody you should do by them is Minerva!

3:48 - Chino's magic trick is turning half-joke lyrics into primal soul screams (not sonically like Will Ramos but in the Radiohead / Muse sense).
Oh hell yeah!!!!! Deftones Army checking in!!!
They have an army too?!? Are you a general of this army as well? :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee nah... I'm just The Colonel on the side

I listened to this on repeat, back in 2007.

Yeah, he actually had two side projects.....Team Sleep and Crosses.
Glad to see that you enjoyed the song! I recommend Minerva next!
Good one Nelson 😁

Deftones - My Own Summer for something heavier. Deftones - Sextape for something softer
be quiet and drive, my own summer, and entombed

Jesus. Let's even toss leathers at her!! 🤘🤘
All good songs, perhaps 'root'. But, 7 words is awesome. You have the right to remain silent.

I'd add bloody cape or poltergeist as a heavy stand out.
Rats! Rats! Rats!
If you like the sound of the vocals in contrast with the heavy guitar, you're gonna like My Own Summer (Shove It)

Please do Battle Axe next!
Beware is also a great tune by Deftones.
Rocket Skates is my favorite Deftones song
Please react to SEXTAPE, KIMDRACULA, KOREA.
The part you don’t like is what I love lol
I really think you’d enjoy Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away). It’s off Around the Fur. Their best work IMO.
Leathers. Grab seat belt though.
If this music is new to you, what bands do you normally listen to?
Yeah, not their strongest single, not a bad song tho.

The hate all my friends line is chino writing about the band at the time they were on the edge of splitting luckily they carried on
Kimdracula plz
React to Hexagram, it's so intense
Yeah this album was riddled with production issues and strife within the band nearly causing them to break up but thankfully they didn't.
Sex tape is also a really nice song by deftones
I need a girl like you
