    I like when someone does a good and almost professional job on installing the lights the right way and not drilling holes to insert switches in the door panels or dash in weird places.
    I have a POLO Classic 2002 model and i want to install the same config with the propper fog lamps in the bumper. I drive mostly in the night here in South Africa from Cape town to a rural town about 100 Miles away.
    Great video. learned a lot from it.

    Matt, I just finished this project on my 2001 Jetta TDI. I used Depo R32 style headlights with white led halos and upper fogs, new euro switch, 2 new fog light harnesses and Spyder lower fogs. Your video was invaluable in helping me get it done. All wires hidden in wire loom and everything working as it should. Looks good and Lots of light. What a difference over my stock lights. Thanks

    I too agree, very nicely done video. Could you please post links and any other detailed info. regarding the headlamp assemblies, fog lamp panels, and wiring harnesses that were procured. I would like to get the same upgrade done to my Jetta as you did. Thanks so much in advance.

    Jetta's headlights are the very worst. Have to drive on brights to see anything - since the reflector tends to drop & the adjustment cogs disintegrate.

    @Matt Verley I just picked up a 2005 Jetta GLS Wagon TDI. I've never really been attached to a vehicle besides my CJ7, but that is quickly changing. I love this car; however, I hate the headlights. Where did you snag your headlights? Have you found the projector cutoff to be correct for the vehicle or are they blinding to oncoming traffic? Also, where did you pick up the switch, I really dig it.

  • @nofaithjusthope8714
    @nofaithjusthope8714 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When you turned on hi beams both hi and low stayed on, I've read that when you do conversion like this where you have separate bulbs for hi and low the low shut off when you turn on hi beams how did you work around that?
    The stock configuration you have one bulb (per side) and just the bulb is switched from hi to low and vice versa. Care to share?

    • @MattVerley
      @MattVerley  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I added a relay that supplies power to the low beams when the high beams are switched on. The brief (1/10 second) interruption in power when switching from HI/LOW or LOW/HI doesn't affect the HID's; they stay on without a flicker.

    • @nofaithjusthope8714
      @nofaithjusthope8714 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, do you think the low beam light output is far superior to the stock headlights? I'm looking at getting the
      helix/depot replica projector lights because they look better IMO. The one issue holding me back is the sharp cutoff that the projector beam has as there is a dramatic cutoff of light like when going down hill then when you start going back uphill. I'm yet convinced a sharp cutoff that projectors have is really better.

    • @MattVerley
      @MattVerley  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      nofaithjusthope yes, the projector output is significantly better than the stock low beams

    • @LamborghiniReven1000
      @LamborghiniReven1000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matt Verley where exactly in the wiring diagram did you add the additional relay? I'm trying to do something similar and I think this is a much better solution as opposed to slicing up the factory wiring in the dash. Details would be appreciated!

  • @snowboard13gcuz
    @snowboard13gcuz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    So how do you hook the wires to the switch?

    • @MattVerley
      @MattVerley  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +snowboard13gcuz I bought the appropriate pins for the connector off of ebay; they just push right into the switch socket.

    • @snowboard13gcuz
      @snowboard13gcuz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +sewerzuk Awesome. Another question, I got the same setup as you did and putting in the HIDs how did you run the wires out of the headlights for the ballasts? did you just leave that cover off or modify the cover?

    • @MattVerley
      @MattVerley  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cut the back of the cover to feed the wires through

    • @snowboard13gcuz
      @snowboard13gcuz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +sewerzuk thanks that's what I ended up doing. I may have a faulty ballast or bulb on my passenger side because it is a lot dimmer and inside I hear a relay clicking a lot. not sure if it was common for that to happen or just because one of the two is faulty.
