in freestyle rules that is totally legal. but in high school they wrestle by folkstyle rules. the slam was a warnable offence. THe punch is illegal in both disciplines
The slam is not a "warnable offense". It was illegal. One point for the kid who was slammed and then he was disqualified for flagrant misconduct (punch).
Patrick Morgan this wasn’t even close to a slam, the dude lifted him up and returned him to the mat with full control of his body hip first. Which is why the ref didn’t call anything. Not to mention the other kid was just a bitch and cried and tried to throw a punch.
Good job cutting the clip before showing the good sportsmanship of the young man in green at the end. It appears he was running over to see if his opponent was injured.
cries like a little baby and pretends his right arm is hurt. then as soon as the ref calls potentially dangerous, gets up and punches him with his "hurt" arm lol
It was because of the extreme unsportsmanlike behavior of the loser, even after getting punched the guy in the green singlet put his hands over his head like, I'm not fighting back. Red singlet dude needs to grow up
No you can take them down hard as long you are still in control of their body. If you lift them then you're responsible for their safety so people tend to take them down slower.
Got nothing to do with control. Got nothing to do with a knee being on the mat either. I think it was pussified too but here is what the rules say. " NFHS rule book" ""RULE 7, SEC. 1, ART. 1: A slam is lifting and returning an opponent to the mat with unnecessary force. This infraction may be committed by a contestant in either the top or bottom position on the mat, as well as during a takedown. A slam shall be called without hesitation." So it's solely up to the ref. I would rather watch Freestyle any day.
And the sad part is sprawling is the most basic and essential takedown defense technique in sport. And the easiest points you can make as well as chaining it to rack up points for a tech fall or flipping a opponent for a pin. I swear I didn't even hear the coach yelling for a fucking sprawl. If I did that shit my coach would've made me run 10 mins for every sprawl I didn't attempt as well 15 mins for every sprawl I did and never converted into a takedown or pin attempt.
Rob Clarke I always sucked at Takedowns, so my key was to sprawl! Sprawling is always beneficial, especially if you aren't all that good on offense. All it takes is a Sprawl, 3 Quarter, and a half, and you've won.
The Guy Who Posts Exactly, it's the essential and basic technique in wrestling. My issue was I was 200 wrestling in the 215 divsion so I had to make my opponent lose his momentum and make it work. But most of the guy I went against always screwed up their takedown attempts and go for a single leg, so I would just sprawl out with my free leg break my other leg free and then try for the 3 quarter. For some reason they weren't smart enough most of the time to grab both my legs. My strategy was to rack up points and then go for the pin.

This happens a lot. A lot of people are saying that the green guy did nothing wrong but both guys were doing stuff wrong. The green guy tried to legally choke him out at the start and just kept pissing the other guy off to the point where he cannot function in the proper state of mind. In the end he just stuck his hands up like he didn’t just spend a full minute trying to piss the guy off. And also the other guy did not play the victim. He missed the punch because he could not use his back properly to even stand up on his own. In this match the other guy was defending very good but he could not do much after he was 100% off the ground. In my opinion the green guy was playing a dirty pain and mind game with the other guy. He got him so pissed and out of his element he was like a guy trying to push a tree over all by himself.
