DD. Lewis is a great guy! My brother met him on the set of "The Crucible" on Hog Island in Massachusetts. Helped build the sets, bought breakfast & lunch for the trades working out there. Just an all'round regular guy. Rode his Harley to the set every day they filmed or just relaxed with everyone.
Most Civil War films like the old ones, Lincoln has a deep rough and calm voice... I never knew that he had a voice close to how Daniel was having in his role.
Loved, loved. Loved this movie. My favorite actor playing my favorite President. I couldn't believe the resemblance. First time I saw some of the released movie stills, I literally has chills.
Its baffling to look at this fella who is nearly and exact replica of President Abraham Lincoln. I remember 2007 when I first got to go to the monument . What a daunting experience.
I am a fan of Lincoln for a large part of my life, from books and John Ford's movie "Young Mr Lincoln". I have a bit of a sense of the man. When I watched Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln, in the entire movie, he really became Lincoln the person, the truly haunting President in person. We don't see the acting anymore. Quite faultless.
Bellissima ricostruzione delle premesse, dell’impegno, della passione che queste persone hanno messo nel ricostruire questa monumentale, per le sue conseguenze, storia!! Bravissimi tutti!!!
For about the last twenty five years, most of the best movies have been either historical fiction or historical dramatization. Lincoln is one of the four greatest movies ever made.
Very interesting, and full credit to everyone who was involved in making this excellent tribute. Forgive me though for saying this, but how would we know how President Lincoln's voice actually sounded like? One could read written descriptions by the people who knew him at the time, and perhaps Daniel got close to it in that role. Personally though, I don't think we'll ever know.
We never will, no. The phonograph was only invented in 1877, so any ability to actually record his voice wasn't around. All we have are the descriptions of his person and voice. If DDL didn't fully capture the actual voice, he certainly created one that fit the description, and captured the persona.
The reporters back in the day had to describe everything down to the detail with no T.V. or radio. Not hard to believe they would describe how he spoke.
I too can't wait to see this movie. However, why make such a fuss about the 'real voice of Lincoln' and how well it was done, when in fact there are no recordings of his voice? Other than that (suspension of disbelief) this looks like it could be a great movie.
Tommy Lee Jones should not have been cast as Thaddeus Stevens. He should've been cast as *Andrew Johnson* - he looks just like him, and Jones (being a fellow southerner just like Johnson) has a voice and accent similar to what Johnson probably would have sounded like.
sean2015 Johnson wasn't really around during this story . He was a southern sympathizer , and more than likely opposed to the 13th Amendment . It's why Lincoln chose him for VP, he wasn't meant to take office .
@@EUSA1776 Andrew Johnson was a vocal supporter of the 13th Amendment, and almost all of Lincoln's proposals from his election as Vice President in November (and before) until Lincoln's death. After the assassination, Johnson was instrumental in pressuring the last couple reconstructed Southern states to ratify the amendment. It was the later amendments, and other proposals by the Radical Republicans, that Johnson disputed with and sank his presidency. In short, Johnson was a firm supporter of ending slavery (he felt it necessary to avoid another civil war), but was not in favor of voting rights or in general treating the former slaves as anything other than emancipated freedmen.
At 0:12 "Red states and blue states were soaked in blood." That's an utter anachronism. The so-called red state vs. blue state concept didn't exist. The Republican Party was quite new, and its power center was the Northeast U.S. My goodness.
Marc Lawrence - That was a present-day newsman speaking, so it isn’t really an anachronism. He is just applying modern terminology to the historical events. Maybe not helpful, though. Most Union (blue) states were not soaked in blood.
America at its finest ? Civil War and Slavery ? How can those things be America at its finest ?! . Do not understand that comment ! ( Not said in any negative derogatory towards America, so don't kill me ! )
Jess Kelly I don't think it was Americas finest at the war, I think this comment was directly to Lincoln. We could all be like Lincoln, represent equality for all and endure the pain and decision making and persevere to do what's best. Of we're all like that, then that's our finest America
Daniel Day Lewis deserves an Oscar for this role, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!

Yes. High squeaky voice they say.
Spielberg is a genius. A patriot.
An American icon.
This man is so good he could play literally anybody.
The passage of the the 13th Amendment was one of our nation's finest hours.
Lincoln! One of the great leaders this world has seen...
Loved, loved. Loved this movie. My favorite actor playing my favorite President. I couldn't believe the resemblance. First time I saw some of the released movie stills, I literally has chills.
The jokes on you... thats not Daniel Day Lewis... thats Abraham Lincoln back from the dead!
Daniel is such a great actor because he is so honest and sincere with/about his craft
Steven Spielberg to Oscar's: I am a director clothed in immense power you shall procure me this votes to win the Oscars😀
One of the greatest combinations

The best Abraham Lincoln since Abraham Lincoln.

Ich habe dieses Meisterwerk " Lincoln "🎬🎥📽 Und liebe diesen Film so much .❤❣❤
I cannot wait to see this movie! I'm a huge Abraham Lincoln fan and I love that President Obama requested his portrait to be in the oval office.
if Day-Lewis doesn't win the Oscar this year the Academy is dead.
Daniel Day-Lewis better win an Oscar for this role!!!!!!!! And it better win for BEST PICTURE!
Bellissima ricostruzione delle premesse, dell’impegno, della passione che queste persone hanno messo nel ricostruire questa monumentale, per le sue conseguenze, storia!! Bravissimi tutti!!!
ABSOLUTELY the BEST.
For about the last twenty five years, most of the best movies have been either historical fiction or historical dramatization. Lincoln is one of the four greatest movies ever made.
This movie is like a time machine.
No need for a vote on Best Actor. DDL must and shall win. I LOVED this movie.
1:25 Daniel has the "Lincoln accent" still slightly attached!
He certainly has the face for it; long, lean, deeply lined.
I think DDL is going to win his 3rd Best Actor Oscar.
Fun Fact:
Steven Spielberg *still has* Abraham Lincoln's *personal number and official Instagram accoint today.*
I cannot wait! Speilberg gets it right!
PLS MAKE A MINI SERIES MR. DAY-LEWIS!

Perhaps...
Tommy Lee Jones is a great as well
Great movie.
I....Must see this movie......NOW:
I too can't wait to see this movie. However, why make such a fuss about the 'real voice of Lincoln' and how well it was done, when in fact there are no recordings of his voice? Other than that (suspension of disbelief) this looks like it could be a great movie.
There are descriptions of his voice that say his voice was shrill and high. So having a low booming voice would have been inaccurate .
I want to work with Daniel Day-Lewis!
Watched for class 3/2/2020 at 12:30 pm
4:36 I thought Steven said, “driving a go-cart”
I guess that’s the olden day version of one 🤣
I'll never understand how Daniel Day Lewis, even with his extreme method acting methodology was able to play Hawkeye, Daniel Plainview, and Lincoln.

Sally field in the movie ? i'm going just for her :D
Wasn't Spielberg's first choice Liam Neeson? I remember reading that Neeson had been preparing buy researching nearly fifty books on Lincoln.
There's a resemblance for sure.
Caitlyn Jones watched for class 3/9/20 6:38pm
yeah
The Lincoln Memorial isn't a "rotunda," alas.
Coolidge Dollar - He must be mixing it up with the Jefferson Memorial.
some Oscars may be?
Speilberg should direct real action hero GW movie which History channel pretty much shown the prequel.

Hi, what's up? It's interesting whirl flimsy What's your opinion about it, guys !!
Off at war may be an over statement. On Grant’s staff.
The best actor to play Lincoln was Royal Dano.
Most dearly loved president NOW. At the time...well...
True
