I've been a full time hammock sleeper for over 2 years. I use a home made under quilt that has an electric blanket included for when I'm chilled from being out in Canadian winter. We also keep the house at 65F in winter. For the knee issue I have a dedicated full size pillow that I always place under my knees. I'm 50 years old and walk over 100km a month between getting places and my job. After a night in my hammock I always feel so good no matter how awful I feel when I get into it.
I had a terrible car accident in 1988 so I've spent a ton of money with chiropractors. Then I learned about the benefits of sleeping in a hammocks, so in 2016-2017 I felt so much better!! I need to get another one
Growing up we slept in Hammocks for our siestas (Spanish naps) and we slept on the floor since we didn't have our own home until I was about...7 or 8 years old. Sleeping on the floor has always felt more natural and comfortable for me. Been debating about getting a hammock instead of a bed & your video convinced me. Thank you so much for this informative video! Blessing to you and your family🙏🏽💗💞
I got into hammock sleeping when working with my son's scout troop. That was when camping hammocks with bug netting and tarp were starting to get really popular. I bought one of the complete systems and have used it much more than my tent. My back thanks me.
I wrap my comforter around me in my hammock every night. Been sleeping this way for 3 years. Every night I think: how can being this comfortable be legal? And no one believes me. I found something amazing and everyone just looks askew at me. I always use a pillow under my knees and bunch my comforter around my neck, for support. I am a side sleeper too, which is the best.
God bless you and your family and thank you for sharing, these are the exact hammocks I'm looking into for my family, we are all tired of sleeping on a mattress and box spring and want to be gently rocked to sleep instead. Great video 😊
Hey thanks! I appreciate you watching! I wish you luck on your hammock journey - i'll be sure to post more about other minimalist treats in the future!
Nicely done! I’ve ‘napped’ in hammocks a few times but have just recently discovered the real comfort and benefits of restful sleeping in a hammock. I recently purchased a Kammok Mantis and am researching a portable suspension system to use in my home. I love the casual delivery of your experience in sleeping and resting in your hammock. The background music was perfect and not obnoxiously loud like many other TH-cams I’ve watched. You go girl!…
I used to sleep on the floor, and I absolutely loved it. The problem was, after two years, my back was in pain. I also started and ended those two years significantly overweight (350+ lb), and am a side sleeper, so that's what I suspect my issue was. I do miss it though, and may retry it sometime. It's really nice to be able to just roll up your bed.
Sometimes not everything is for everyone! I also go back and forth between hammock and floor. It's just nice feeling I don't need anything but my yoga mat 🙌🔥
You're a real shooter with that kettle. Funny, I spilled a whole mug of coffee on my mattress. I cut it up and bagged all the springs and separated the foam and disposed of it like a dead body over a few weeks time. I did this so I could avoid paying for removal. Haha. Now I bought a hammock and I'm just waiting for it to arrive. Its a camping one called a draumr 5.0. Real slick looking unit. Wish me luck.
I should have added this 😆! I use a drill and stud finder with a socket wrench. The hooks are in a link that's a "frequent purchase" with the Amazon listing I bought it from. I bought another set of these hooks for my son's. I use drywall to fix the holes. It's super easy. I love that there are other hammock families out there!
@@sammiche hmmm... I really never thought about drilling into the walls of my apt for a hammock but I may consider doing that instead of having a hammock stand... I'll just have to reinforce the walls as I am not a tiny person. Do you think two hooks for both walls would suffice?
Hammock sleeping since 2015, I have a nice wood curved stand for my bedroom hammock. I also have a stand for camping that fits in a lawn chair sized bag.
@@sammiche You might want to check out “ The Ultimate Hang” book. Outdoor hammocking is a little more challenging but great! There are a couple of glimpses of my camp hammock setup in my videos on my channel. I should make a montage of hammock camping I have done ✅

In 1987 I was in a severe car accident where my car flipped a few times so I've been going to the chiropractor. I was having severe back pain in 2015 and so I got rid of my bed and replaced it with a hammock for a year and I have never been back to the chiropractor again!!! Now this year I'm thinking about going back to a hammock.
Hammock sleeping sounds great. I've floor slept and ended up having mice and spider issues. I'm looking at a bridge hammock for myself. thanks for he video.
@@sammiche OK I did mean to comment on your personal appearance and say you have an amazing body like a man would genuinely realise. How do you get up and wake up out of the hammock cos the way to comfy I could stay the all day.
I just found your 2 years old video now, while researching for a way how i can avoid these heavy bulky mattresses. Futons seem nice but need a lot of maintenance. Now i want to try your way. I would appreciate like in your case to also use the hammock as a kind of comfortable arm chair. How close to the back wall did you drill each hole, so you could use the back wall to hold you? Thanks in advance and thank you for your great tips that are extremely inspiring for other single moms.
Awesome! I dont have an exact measurement. There are hammock calculators online. Also, the farther apart means the flatter you will lay. If youre setting up for a chair, consider placing closer together. ❤️🙌 thanks for watching!
I just got a hammock with the stand... I'm trying it out for 30 days to see how I adjust and so far it feels great, but I haven't slept in it yet. I'll be doing a full night's sleep tonight. Hope it works out.
How’s it been going for you? I’ve been sleeping on my hammock for like 3 years now. Only thing I’ve noticed is that my stand prevents it from rocking much, does that sound like a bad thing?
Thanks for the great overview and for sharing your experience and tips. I am about to try sleeping on a hammock as my partner moves and snores ("breathes loudly" 😅) enough for my sleep to be regularly interrupted. I've looked into the health implications of sleeping permanently on a hammock too and unfortunately there's just not enough solid research on the subject. That seems to be generalized as there isn't even any extensive research on mattresses. All these bed-in-a-box business popped up selling $3000 mattresses with absolutely no scientific support for _any_ of their claims, so it's essentially impossible to tell if a hammock is better or worse than a mattress outside of personal, anecdotal experiences.
I can only share from personal experiences, and I have had only peaceful experience. I find myself much more sore from sleeping in beds than sleeping in hammocks.✌️ 🙌 thanks for wartching!
Im looking to ditch my bed and replace it with a hammock in my small apt and was wondering if you had any tips on place’s to look for good quality indoor hammocks to sleep on
I’m wondering if my hammock might be too long for the stand I have for it? Been sleeping on it for years without much of an issue really. I love it! It’s just that I noticed my hammock doesn’t swing naturally like yours. Thoughts? Maybe it’s not even a problem?
It's possible. I never have used stands because this seems to create a deeper dip in the hammock for me. Instead, I attatch to wall or trees. 🙌❤️ thanks for watching!

I want to try hammock sleeping as well. I wake up with mild backpain very often on my matrass. So I did try sleeping on a thin sleeping pad but then I woke up to go to the toilet at night and I felt a shap pain in my bellybutton. Is this normal? Would this get away if I was to sleep on a pad for longer?
