    There are many things that I refuse to own for many reasons. Being both a minimalist and living low waste, I take pride in my lifestyle because it takes me closer to mindfulness in my everyday life.
    I like that I don't have to go out of my way to change my surroundings. I'm not tied down to a particular location, setting, or environment.
    I force my family to be present every day by creating valuable rules for my home.

    I just found your page, this is the first video I have watched and I’m so interested in watching more. Thank you for inspiring me. I’m currently on a decluttering journey and I loved listening to you as I go through what I own. I’ve watched a lot of “minimalist” channels and yours is one of the best I’ve seen.

    I really enjoyed your video! It's motivating for me to further declutter and let go of attachments to physical things that don't serve me.

    The only thing that makes me go “ whoa girl” is the no bed lol everything else I agree with, just in my own way. I do put a lot of emphasis on comfort, so I could never have my kids or myself go without a bed, but I totally respect your reasoning as yes, they are annoying lol
    I realized that I naturally became a minimalist when I had kids and became a stay at home mom as I couldn’t afford as many things as I did as a single career woman. It was so easy for me because I’m a quality vs quantity person. Being a one income family, while we’re comfortable, we’re not rich, and if I want to buy that all clad 350 dollar pan, I can’t have too many. I attributed this mindset to everything, even furniture and kids clothes, and funny enough I never understand why people need so much. Like why do you need a dresser if every room has a closet? Why do you need an end table or a bookshelf on every freaking corner of every wall. Flat surfaces just attract clutter. Why do you need 40 crap quality sweat shop produced shirts when you can have 5 nice ones that last and last. Our daughter just moved into a big girl bed and I got rid of the crib, and everyone’s like “ what if you have a 3rd” and my answer is always “ if we have a third by any chance and we can’t afford another crib, we have no business having a 3rd child”. I just don’t get the purpose of storing anything for the future that’s not even a definite
    Funniest thing was when we needed a repair man for our washer and he came in our garage and said, oh you guys just moved in huh? I’m like nope why? He says oh cuz your garage is empty. He was shocked when I said “ a garage is for a car, it’s not storage”. When I walk around the neighborhood and people have their garages open, I’m always so sad for them that they can’t even have an empty square footage anywhere. Like why would you live that way. All my objects in my hope need to have a purpose or they’re a waste of square footage. I’m not an eco minimalist or a financial minimalist as I have no problem buying designer things, I just hate….things. And funny enough, I still spend way less than my friends that only shop at Walmart and target.

    True minimalism is being content with food and clothes. Anything else is luxury

    • @sammiche
      @sammiche  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. Do you feel that minimalists don't experience luxury? Is there a difference between being too poor to afford items, and choosing the items we own as we experience minimalism?
