No she continued but she took a long route after this jump and lost time. She did not suffer time faults for the turn while they caught the dog; that was corrected

I will never understand horse people and their dogs, people who darn well know better, too- I get that it's your kid, but even if your human kid couldn't behave out and about around horses you wouldn't put it (or the horses) in danger by bringing it into this kind of situation... This is something that continues to surprise me about high level horsepeople, they've GOT to know better on some level...

Dont bring dogs to competitions with horses. Plain and simple. If you dont have a friend or can afford someone to look after your dog for a few days... keeping in mind there's a few groups that will petsit for up to a week without costing anything beyond travel time...then it says you aren't financially capable of handling emergency medical bills either (hmm such as potentially being kicked by a horse) and shouldnt own one.

I would be so pissed, I used to event and to have this happen would be heart breaking. I had one dog try to attack my horse whilst just out on a hack. Thankfully, my boy handled the situation himself, but the owner tried to sue me since her dog didn't survive the altercation
The rider shouts something like “hey f-in dog, get out the way!” Ironically they were putting out the “all dogs on leads” message over the PA as it happened. I was standing next to the fence judges and one of them says “she’s got a dog on her heels” on the longer video. Sorry it’s not clearer

I wonder if the PA people made the announcement because they saw the dog, or it was one of those impeccable/ironic timing things. Still it's such a shame when people can't control their animals (regardless of species, within reason). For example, I've seen a dog bowl kids over because it got loose and wanted to play with the kids. Think that was on our national day maybe 5 years ago. No idea what breed it was, looked like a mix, but about the size of a lab.

Oh I'd be PISSED at the owner. I'm not a competitive person so I can't say I'd care about how it affected my run, but a loose dog on the track puts my horse, me, the dog, and the other people around me in danger. It could even if it's not trying to be agressive, it could easily cause a horse ro spook or trip

This is always the worst. Really hope she was able to retry. However, the dog was leashed, this looks like a genuine accident, leash definitely slipped. It happens. In the end no one was hurt thankfully.

Not the dog’s fault. He/she is a sighthound so is only doing what comes naturally. The way the dog is handled once they have the lead under control is excessive. Owner is always at fault.

Oh my God, I hate it when people have their dogs at shows and like let them loose imagine doing all that work for one show and a random dog ruins everything, literally last year at my Barn’s annual show somebody brought their dog and they were holding it in the face of one of the most skittish horses in the yard and I felt so bad for the horse like we had to shoo the guy away with his dog cause he wouldn’t listen like keep control of your dog or don’t bring them

Always keep a good hold of your dogs leash if you are watching horses or cattle shows. As we've just seen anything can happen. What a stupid owner. Who couldn't run quick enough to get her dog under control.

Ce n'est pas la faute du chien. Ne l'accusez pas. C'est la faute de son maître qui devait bien le tenir. Les maîtres de chiens en liberté sont un fléau dans le milieu équestre. Ils ne savent pas mesurer le danger que cela peut provoquer ; et ils n'aiment pas leur chien car un cheval peut tuer un chien ... J'espère que le temps perdu a été recrédité à cette cavalière.
Oh my God, I hate it when people have their dogs at shows and like let them loose imagine doing all that work for one show and a random dog ruins everything, literally last year at my Barn’s annual show somebody brought their dog and they were holding it in the face of one of the most skittish horses in the yard and I felt so bad for the horse like we had to shoo the guy away with his dog cause he wouldn’t listen like keep control of your dog or don’t bring them
