As a college freshman I had the great fortune of studying under Jerry back in 1971-72. My lesson was at the end of the day and he allowed me to stay after, sometimes for as long as 90 minutes, to watch and listen to him play. It was as if he were giving me a private concert. For free! It seemed to me that he viewed these times as the chance to teach me by example while practicing. It was a priceless experience. He received a standing ovation at the end of his faculty recital, unusual for the time. We were both in attendance at Severance Hall when Segovia stopped mid-song to cough into his handkerchief (a chastisement of an audience member who had a terrible cough . . . and, apparently, nothing to muffle it). Many thanks, Jerry!
Lovely arrangements that capture the essence of the style. I must buy this book and add some ragtime to my repertoire. Very fine playing and super guitar sound.
ANOTHER book of yours I want! That's not fair--there are too many! ;) Seriously, glad to discover you on You Tube today, will be visiting you often here and on Amazon where you will be receiving a significant portion of my discretionary income.
HI Palestrina's Masses thanks so much i'm delighted you like my work! Right now the CD of this work is connected with the book, so you would have to but both, however there is a possibility that that might change in the near future. Meanwhile i am affiliated with Lyrichord Discs and you can see my CDs here lyrichord.com/search.aspx?find=jerry+willard - Thanks again - Jerry
Very nice Jerry! So are these arrangements published yet so lowlifes like me can get a copy and have some fun? Now, the big question-my favorite Joplin rag has always been the "Magnetic Rag", but it seemed too keyboard-centric to fit well on one guitar. Do you think it is possible?

This is some fantastic stuff Jerry. Do you have CDs too? I sadly don't play the classical guitar but these are great arrangements with lovely playing.

Jerry Willard?!?!? This sounds suspiciously like the work of Marcel Robinson, the famous Creole guitarist par excellence.
dactylntrochee And now that I'm done kiddin' around -- Man! That's some beautiful playing.
dactylntrochee HAHHA he's wresting alligators for the tourists now :)
