Hi Guys, way back in he 40's these scammell's were only pulling Matildas, Cromwells, churchull's, Lee's, Shermans and Comets non of which was anywhere near the mass of old Smokey, and the service that they did was superb at the time,,,and at that time tank recovery vehicles used to pick up the front end of the vehicle to be recovered, thus transferring weight onto the tow vehicle and giving more traction...modern recovery practice is to jus tow the stranded vehicle that has been left in neutral,,,

We were still using Explorers in the late 60s.

    I have a question.
If they're not synchronized in some way like with speed , power, torque will the weaker one/ones be be a burden to the stronger one/ones 🤔

Rigid bars - there's the problem, needed some Tank Bungie in there and let the Kinetic energy work up the tow,

Why do people insist on running Scammells without the engine side panes of, don't they realise that they're part of the cooling system? (Ex VMbEA1*)

Look at the soil they're on. It's greasy cow dung. Only a spike wheel tractor could pull in that.

If the tank (shrek) had not dropped his blade (ground anchor) we would have towed it with one, certainly two explorers. Check out my video of Jules tow starting Nick's T54 at the hop farm war and peace show a few years ago. And the 38-40 ton tank was in reverse gear!

It can be done easily if the tow is set up right!
Maybe we should have had Rugged Robin on the front Bernard. lol

Gawd, British design engineers have built the ugliest cars, trucks, tanks and locomotives on Earth. Oh, and these vehicles did fail to move the tank except for a very few inches- yet another failure of form and function.
