    I am a little surprised that it did not pick all that powder up. I had a real life issue, dropping about half a cup of salt on my tiled floors. I sent out my X1 Omni on med suction and it cleaned it up totally. Now I am wondering if it is not due to the all rubber brush? The combo brush maybe just kicks the salt/powder out the crevices for easy cleaning. Just a thought. I do however love the rubber brushes, like I have on my J7 as they really are a pleasure to clean vs the combo brush. To me, there is at the end of the day only one single reason I think this S8 is better than the Omni, and that is due to the raising mop pad. I have my X1 for about six months now and it is an absolute beast.
    The second issue I see is that it was very aggressive with the water bottles? Why do you think that was? I prefer the J7 overcautious approach to a very aggressive approach. You never know what you may brush or sideswipe.

      The rubber brush is better carpet while the regular bristle brush is better on floors.

    I was supriced when I checked mine before. That the rollers are not really on the floor. But instead tilted up. And it sucks from the air above your floor. Less efficient and more energy wasting.
    Its built for carpet 90%.

    Just a observation I've also seen on other channels, you do lose some suction on the auto empty with the cover in the up position. Try lifting the cover when auto emptying and see if there is some resistance.

    • @RobotMasters

      I just realized that, thank you for pointing that out. The self emptying is good enough to get the dirt out for normal day to day cleaning.

    How is the robot performing on high pile carpet ? Like the bathroom rugs etc. my S7 Max v cant do any bathroom rugs.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Robot will struggle if the user doesn't remove the mopping pad. With the S8 you can't remove the mopping plate so this robot does best with medium to low profile carpets.

    This video proved to be an eye opener for me. The Roborock S8 doesn't seem to be suitable for me. I have almost the same tiles. I'm just wondering do you expect to do the tiled floor + pink powder test for the Ecovacs DEEBOT X1 OMNI as well?

    This is just a wide observation, but from your video, it doesn’t look like this is much of an improvement (maybe not as good) as my 7 MaxV ultra. I rarely find debris left in between my tiles, nor find much debris left after the auto-empty. I am wondering if the dual roller is really an improvement(?) Or is the dual power mopping a big improvement?

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So just from what I observed it a close call to know exactly if one robot did better than the other. Both the S7 and S8 performed well, but I would say the S7 might of performed better with tile and powder. Maybe it has a better seal as the extractor bar is going over the surface. I do like the redesign ends if the new brush bars. They are easier to remove and it seems all the hair gets wrapped around the ends on purpose. I also noticed they went with the bristle side brush instead of the rubber version. I will continue evaluating and see if anything changes.

    There are 2 new roborocks from China!
    The G20 and the P10
    The G20 is basically the S8 Pro Ultra but with the addition of an auto dispenser detergent tank like on the Dreame (and Roborock Dyad Pro), and the auto draining kit found on the G10s.
    The P10 is basically the Q Revo with the addition of the auto dispensing tank. Saw the videos and images and sadly roborock refuses to add a fancy screen or buttons. COME ON ROBOROCK!
    I'm also a bit disappointed by the S8 Pro Ultra and the fact that you can't remove the mop plate. WHY DO COMPANIES DO THIS!? MAKE THE MOP PLATE REMOVABLE AND WATER TANK REMOVABLE!!! WHY ROBOROCK!? WHY!?!?!?!?

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't wait to see the new models. I know there a few other companies trying to follow the self emptying and washing features. Ecovacs has the Yuko innovation so hopefully Roborock will do something unique.

    Great video as always, I think Roborock provides a setting in the app for how long to empty the bin, if so, you might set it to max and see if it empties everything the first time, you mentioned the Q series dock is not as good, I was thinking of getting the self empty dock for a birthday present for a friend who has the Q5, does it work at all, her dust is not extreme, just every day stuff, but maybe I'll think of something else if you think it really doesn't work. It will be interesting to see if Irobot comes out with anything new, from what I've seen the Roomba J7 combo really is not that good, I really think companies like Roborock, Dreametech and Ecovacs have gotten far ahead of them.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  ปีที่แล้ว

      So the Q series self emptying system isn't as powerful as the Roborock Ultra Dock, but it does the job for day to day maintenance. I agree Ecovacs and Roborock have stayed ahead of the competition.

      So if you already own the S7 MaxV Ultra than I would say the S8 Pro not a significant upgrade or really designed to be a replacement to that model. The S8 Pro is aimed for someone who doesn't want the camera system for privacy reasons or looking for a robot that does well picking up long pet hair. Performance wise they are very similar despite the S8 Pro having better suction.

      Hmmmm, well the S8 in my test seemed to do better overall at cleaning and mopping. I would recommend this model if you have pets that shed long hair or a lot hair. The rubber brushes are easier to clean than on the T10. The T10 offers more features like onboard Voice Assistant and Live Video Feed.

    Thanks for the helpful videos. I was going to buy the s7 with the ultra docking station, but then found out the s8 is coming out. I have 1000 square feet of hard floors (lvp) and then I'll have a few large rugs. I'm also getting a cat so I'll have cat hair to clean up.
    I imagine the s7 will go on sale when the s8 releases, but if it doesn't, paying 1400 and then 99 for the dryer station seems pretty comparible to the 1600 s8. In your experience which does a better job of picking up hair on hard floors, and which does a better job mopping? It looks like they are pretty comparable and that there's not much difference in terms of performance. If the duel brush does worse on hard floors though that would be good to know. If not though, and ut comes down to them being similar price and performance, I don't know why I wouldn't just go for the s8 since the docking station and white option looks much better visually. What are your thoughts? Do you have an other company models you suggest I look into for my use case? Thanks again

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  ปีที่แล้ว

      So the dual brush roller seemed to do well on carpet. I didn't notice any real difference in cleaning ability over the S7. One thing to note I found the dual brushes to be easier to clean long hair off. Get the S7 if you want the front facing camera with live video feed, aka security bot. The S8 Pro has the Hot Mop dring feature and slightly more powerful specifications. I personally didn't notice any real difference in cleaning performance. Personally I would go with the S7 MaxV and Ultra dock.

    • @RobotMasters

      The L10s is cheaper overall, and has a few unique features with a different mopping pad system. As for cleaning performance they performed equally as well. I would say for people that have a lot hair on the floor go with the S8 Pro. Easier to clean the hair off. If you want the camera system than the S7 MaxV is very similar to the S8 Pro. If it was up to me I would personally go with the L10s because it cheaper and offers a lot if the same features.

      @@meandmyfish5353 Yes I think she will appreciate that. My parents were hesitant at first of getting a robot vacuum. They wanted to get a cheaper model, but I told them if they spend a little more for a name brand like, iRobot, Roborock or ECOVACS than there better support, parts availability and overall better build quality. They ended up getting the J7+ which they use almost everyday. For your situation, you don’t necessarily need a very expensive or feature rich model, especially for a smaller home. One thing to note, if they don’t want to empty out the robot dust bin each time, I would recommend a model that offers self emptying.

    I have a large breed dog that sheds alot. I currently have a Roborock S6 maxv, that I run daily, and the bin is always full after each cycle. The hair strands are usually bellow 10 cm, do you think they get that often tangled in the axles? How often do you expect to refill the clean water tank, if I plan to use the moping feature daily, at high intensity moping and cleaning the pad after 10 min of running?

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So from my personal experience using the iRobot and previous generation S7 MaxV that utilize an all rubber brush bar design I found the hair wrap to be minimal. The hair only gets wrapped around the ends. On the S8 Pro they redesigned it so the ends comes off easily in one piece. So for dog hair I do recommend this style of brush. As for pickup ability it will be very similar to the S6 MaxV but the self emptying system should be able to remove the hair from the dust bin. In my home I run the robot 2-3 times a week and mop once a week. I found I would have to empty and refill the water tank every two weeks. My hardwood floor areas are about 1,000 sqft.
