Looks like a typical British seaside, good place for the kids, can't see anything to cause it to be voted worse, I'd give it a solid 7.5. 🤔🤗

It lacks 'character' possibly because of the lack of a harbour or boats. The beach is not the cleanest nor is the sea when it rushes in and then out and quicksands and the speed of the incoming tide make it dangerous for swimmers/paddlers. Apart from that it is an average slightly rundown seaside town so 5/10.

I would give that place 10 cause it has the beach and a pier and the gift shop and fish and chips and it is a bit busy as well and the sunshine and the summer holidays coming up soon and thanks Neil for showing us around

Cleethorpes also has a boating lake, a free sheltered paddling pool, a free sheltered sand pit with climbing equipment. A good leisure centre and a quieter area of beach where dogs are allowed all year. On the busier part of the beach it’s dog free on the sand from Good Friday until the end of September. There’s a steam train too. Full size bowling alley and a Parkway cinema ( cheaper than the other cinema chains), Sup boarding, a large indoor soft play area, I shopping street, Wednesday market, Not forgetting the castle, Ross Castle 😂, Free Air Shows, Free Armed Forces Weekend, a free Carnival and lots more events through the summer!

    Great video as always!
Many fond memories of staying there pretty much every year as a kid. We’d stay in the holiday rentals owned by the Parkinson family, The family own the little cafe (and other properties) adjacent to the main entrance to the beach.
For those who've stayed in the same properties you'll possibly remember either the downstairs apartment that faced the fish shop - waking up to the noise of the road sweeper passing by / or the sound of the donkeys being taken to the beach. Or possibly you remember some of the older rentals with the large blue wooden stairs, or maybe the front apartment with the big Marilyn Monroe mural on the wall.
I've fond memories of when Fantasy Land used to house all the main funfair rides -the likes of the ghost train, bumper cars, outside go carts, as well as the Sunday Market.
If you wanted to travel to the other side of town you'd soon reach the boating lake, surrounded by the old miniature railway. Many years were passed watching the remote control boat tournaments on the lake, or attending the BBC Radio 1 Roadshows long before the area got its swimming baths.
The beach back then was pretty much up there as one of the best / cleanest beaches in the UK.
I could go on for every recalling my old memories. So many happy memories of staying there! Definitely a 10/10 from me.! :))

Yeah, I’m getting the arcade name (Fantasy Land) mixed up with what was Wonderland at the far end. So going to have to go back for a day or 2 and have a good walk around / reminisce.

I visited Cleethorpes at least 20 times while living in England for 11 years. We would get the train tickets for a low cost like 7 pounds a round trip and spend the day there. I always loved it there. We would always have to walk nearly to the amusement park to the smallest pub in the world and then take the miniature train back, to the sidewalk train, Fun times! I was told it was actually the River Humber there on the beach or less you walked down to the miniature train area? I've been to quite a few seasides there and I would rate this one like a 7. Having the train right on the beach for convenience to get there, a 10+! Cheers!

Cleggy is great for a day out ,50 minutes on train ,rate 10/10 , entertainment ok if you have little ones plenty for them to do 8/10 , beach is really lovely ,soft golden sand but long walk for a paddle ,wouldnt recommend swimming ,8/10 ,land train as far as leisure centre ,round the corner to miniture railway {if its still there] 6/10 ,then it becomes dead since theme park closed and then zoo ,5/10,pier was great when it was a bar and cabaret venue ,4/10 arcades ok but watch spending ,the little fun fair has been there for ever 9/10 shame wonderland closed down and they havent really done much with it ,4/10 and now the big moan the big pub on the fronts has been demolished and what have they put up a flipping great hoarding 2/10 hope they do something with the space was a great meet up place for bikers back in the day ,finally loads of chippies and restaurants to quell the hunger 10/10 , 66/100 not a bad rating and certainly doesnt deserve the worst resort title .

If you walk right to the end where the boat ramp bit is and now all those big rocks that is where my dad's ashes were put he wanted to be at cleethorpes not completely sure why think it's cause he took all his kids there I don't love it but it's what he wanted so he's been there for nearly 10 years now well probably not I like the idea that he's gone in the sea back to his traveling navy days an apart of him is everywhere but it's also nice to think an hope abit of him is still there on the beach enjoying all the happy family's having a good holiday ,weekend or day trip there and waiting for me to come back and visit I go twice a year every January on his birthday and every fathers day I was actually watching this to see if any of my stuff I got him an left there were still there but you didn't go to that area an I'm pretty sure it's all swept away by the sea before I even get on the train home anyway dad liked it there I have happy memories there an it's not a bad place to go definitely isn't the worst beach

I gave you a thumbs up for you. But Cleethorps not. The place looks very mundane. No landscaping, beach is not particularly inviting. The whole place looks like no one has given it a thought. Lol lol. A very conservative place. You probably would not even have to compare it to other beaches in order for it to ne considered not very good. 😅. At least you got a walk in. Just wondering why you said your not going to the fish & chip shop because it's cash only. A lot of businesses are struggling with the rise in raw materials, electric etc and with more people using their cards it's leaving businesses with large card transaction bills each month. It doesn't cost a business to accept cash. A lot more businesses have now realised this and have put signs up asking people to pay with cash whenever possible or are not accepting cards at all. People who use their cards every time are just making the banks and card companies richer and richer and taking money out of the small businesses. It also has lead to lots of banks around the country closing down because people are not going into them to pay in cash or to take out cash etc.

I have to admit I don’t like crowds, but it’s nice to get a better look at Cleethorpes (I’m medically blind so when I’m there all I see is a blur with a lot of movement).
My daughter, son-in-law, and grandson moved up there 2 years ago from Hertfordshire and I’ve been up a few times a year since they moved. I prefer the beach and prom off season because I can enjoy walking along it.
My daughter and her little family love it up there and have been able to buy a house up there where they wouldn’t have had the deposit on a garden shed down here.
My watching videos, and zooming in and studying maps especially for getting from the station to their home means I now feel confident to travel solo so can plan weekend visits as well as visits in the school holidays.
I’m a bit biased as my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson love living up there so it’s 20 out of 10 for me 😉

It's very different from an Australian beach. I've never been to England. So I'm sorry I can't compare it to any other England beach.
But yeh I think it looks great.
Certainly less 'beach culture' - than a typical Ausie beach. 'Beach culture' makes me feel very out of place.
Australian beaches are very much just about the surf and sand and not a lot else.
Except maybe BBQ's and ice cream.
So yeh I'd definitely love to come here if ever I get to visit England.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Rob

Cleethorpes is a typical British seaside town, yes, perhaps a wee bit tired.. having said this, it has a great seafront with lots of choice in places to eat and drink, friendly people and lovely gardens. You can get the train between Meridian and Lakeside and visit the World's smallest pub, I could go on .. . It never ceases to amaze me when I see " worst" this and " worst" that. I always make my own mind up about these things and some people, it would seem, only see negatives! If you're up in NE Lincs take a look. You may be pleasantly surprised!

My mum, my 2 nieces and I are heading there for a day trip in early August, so I like to look for videos to get the lay of the land and see what's there. Everything looks to be within easy walking distance and it's not too hilly. Personally, I think it looks like a quaint little seaside town, a solid 6 from me. We generally DO prefer places like Scarborough or our current favourite Great Yarmouth for a longer stay, but somewhere like this for just a day trip is a welcome change.

Could do with some better rides or a theme park type place, like Skegness, ingoldmells, etc but on the whole I wouldn’t rate it the worst, nice big sandy beach, amusements etc same as many other seaside towns. It all depends what you want from a seaside town, not every one likes the same experience.

Don’t go to Seaways for fish and chips unless you like to get up close and personal with a toilet. It won’t be a public toilet in Cleethorpes though, as there are none despite locals repeatedly campaigning for some. Ernie Becketts and Steeles seem to have the best reputation. My mum remembers just after the second world war the beach cordoned off with barbed wire because of sea mines being washed up.

There's a little bit more to Cleethorpes than shown, especially along the seafront. Going south from the Pier, you go passed the Leisure Centre and the boating lake where there's a miniature railway that runs along part of it. The area has been developed a bit since I was last there, some 20 years ago.

Some of the details in your video are not correct
Cleethorpes hasn’t been named the worst resort. Infact Cleethorpes is nice compared to place like Mablethorpe, Skegness and others. Clearly it’s not that bad as it looks very busy.
Cleethorpes didn’t even make the top ten of worst seaside towns
Worst 10 UK seaside towns and villages are:
Skegness, Lincolnshire - 48 per cent
    Clacton-on-Sea, Essex - 48 per cent
    Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset - 49 per cent
Bangor, County Down - 49 per cent
Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire - 54 per cent
Bognor Regis, West Sussex - 54 per cent
Great Yarmouth, Norfolk - 55 per cent
Colwyn Bay, Conwy - 55 per cent
    Southend-on-Sea, Essex - 56 per cent
Morecambe, Lancashire - 56 per cent

Cleethorpes!!! I am Italian and my company sent me to work at the South humber side power plant. I lived in Cleethorpes during that time. Late 90's it was.
What a place!! Regular fights. Co workers had either bloody lips or black and blue eyes. The women there were crazy about us. The guys hated us. So we were on a constant battle 🤣
We used to hang out in Park Lane, Baton Rouge, Swashbuckle's and wintergarden. The bouncer's were our best friends. We paid them to keep an eye on us and keep our backs free, so we could party in peace. Quite a depressing rough little town. On weekends it turned into "trouble" 😅
