    WARNING:
Not many people know this, but during WWII, some .38 Special revolvers were manufactured with bored-through chambers as a wartime expedient by contract manufacturers until they could get proper chambering reamers. These .38 special revolvers will chamber .357 Magnum cartridges. The problem is that .357 Magnum cartridges generate substantially more chamber pressure than proof loads in .38 Special. Use ONLY the ammo stamped on the barrel or you risk getting hurt and destroying a WWII collector piece.

It might be one of the best power vs economy and versatility…and lower recoil than 45 acp and 44 mag. With flat-nosed bullets, it works in the tubular magazines of lever-action rifles, too. Although, maybe the .30 M1 Carbine is versatile, too…in box-magazine auto-loaders anyway. I see there’s now a S&W 30 Super Carry. 30 Carbine would be like the magnum of that.

That’s why those 357 are so versatile. Sometimes you don’t want to shoot 357 and you just want to ping some targets with a smaller less recoil 38 special. Since a beginner shooter I have always love guns that can shoot multiple caliber’s

I did learn something! I didn’t know the reason being that .357 was longer. I always thought it was because it was hotter and might blow up the gun 🤣

Weakest to largest round the gun will take. The sound between the difference of rounds was extremely noticeable. The gp100 is a model of .357 mag. Mine has a six inch barrel and has blued steel.
