I would be interested in seeing you replace the canvas top and sides on a cabin cruiser boat. I just did mine and it was a royal pain the way sailrite does it. I noticed other boats where it isn't done using their methods and techniques. They look a lot better than mine. I ditched their method on the back end of the boat and I could tell the difference. The way they say to use plastic to pattern it does not work either.

Hi Meca, great video! I have the same car and top. but how do you fix the 2 elastic straps just behind the doors ? On my car they were missing, I can't see any screws or bolts on the frame to fix them - thanks

Amazing video brotha. I've actually watched this a couple times in preparation of replacing my top this summer. For the back rear bow weatherstripping what did you use to bond the weatherstripping to the convertible top?
I don't use nothing to attach the weather to strip to the rear bar . But some people use silicone or alweather glue

What kind of glue is needed to install .. this will be my 1st time
contact cement. if you have no sprayer just buy it in aerosol spray cans. (expensive, you need many cans for some jobs, not for this little job though.). I used to use 3m brand spray cans but weldwood brand contact cement in a spray can has a much smaller spray pattern which allows me to do less masking when I spray glue. It also sprays out more glue faster than the 3m, which sort of foggs it on. Get the biggest cans they sell. Small cans expensive and always run out. Remember most of what is in the can is air, not glue. You can also buy the glue in a quart or gallon, and brush it on. I went through a whole gallon, plus about 14 spray cans for a Rolls Royce top, but that is an elaborate job took 3 months, with about ten layers fabric. Engineers for that top were insane perfectionists. It has so many layers of material that it can't fold down very far. Ever see a photo of a 1972 RR Corniche convertible with top down, it doesnt go down very far, because you can't fold all those layers any tighter. (Long answer for what kind of glue to use!)
