Good morning! Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit lousy. I can relate, I've been struggling with a nasty respiratory 'lurgy' for a week now, and it's not going away nearly fast enough. So this toddy recipe popping up is wonderful timing. Thanks! 🙏 I actually stopped in at Top Shelf about a month ago, on my way back from Arnprior. "Nearby Distillery" appeared on my GPS navigation (apparently THAT'S a thing...who knew?) and I took a hard swerve to the left into the town of Perth. What a beautiful place! The staff at Top Shelf were knowledgeable, and happy to talk me through their process. They let me sample both of their whiskys, which rather reminded me of Glenora's Glen Breton releases. The sherried one was newly out and quite nice. I didn't spring for a whisky at that time, as I believe they ship free within Ontario. I did take a bottle of their Butter Tart Moonshine out the door with me. They also threw in a 2-pack of actual butter tarts they have made locally, and they're the best I've ever had. The Moonshine is delicious too, and quite decadent! 😁 I think I'm going to make a toddy for myself this afternoon, though I'll use something else as I don't have Cutty Sark in stock. Maybe Waterproof blended Scotch will substitute nicely. Get better soon, my friend! Marian 🇨🇦
Thanks for the kind words Marian. I am on the mend now. About 80%. Glad you stopped off in Perth. Top Shelf is one of my favourite local options for spirits. I am a fan of everything they do. Was invited to take a distillery tour, just need to make the time to get to it. Should do a video on that…let me work on that…cheers. Enjoy your Toddy.
I've got three bottles of single malt that I'm never, ever, going to enjoy neat, so I'll probably use them in cocktails... and using them as Hot Toddy base is a great idea. (I know there's a theory that you should only use spirits you like in cocktails, but I'm ok with going the other direction, LOL!)
