This is a solid dram as were all the other Laga 11s! For all their gimmick with the labels and the marketing, I'm happy the whisky is good. I've tried all four so my line up would be from best to last Charred Oak, Rum, Guinness, initial release. Cheers mate for the review 🥃
Thanks for the comment! You are the 5th or 6th person to recommend the Charred Oak. I must try to source one out if it's not too much work lol. Sounds like a great one. This rum Cask finish is almost gone and I will need yo secure another bottle. Cheers.
Nice review Tyler! Not sure what you are looking for in a "presentation". This is Bourbon, sourced from Heaven Hill. (assumed by the identical mashbill). Sells for around $75-$90 cad in Alberta as does the OE 7 yr Rye (MGP sourced). Good stuff. Cheers
Thanks for the comment Peter. I just wish they would put a little more effort into the lore and background. Sourced from Heven Hill no, but the background on the name Ezra would be nice or info on the charcoal mellowing process. Just anything would be better that nothing. Heck, throw a QR code that takes you to their website. I would even take that. Other than this on criticism, it's a wonderful bourbon in my opinion. Thanks for your input sir! Cheers and enjoy your day.
@@SeawayWhiskyWire NDP bottlers in the US will not disclose the distillery, they will say distilled in Indiana for MGP or Canada for sourced Canadian whisky (usually on the back of the bottle) and in this case they state Kentucky which of course means nothing. There really is no "lore" or background to Lux Row they are owned now by Ross & Squibb (formally MGP, formally LDI and formally Seagrams)😀 FWIW, I recently picked up a North Star spirits release of "secret" Orkney single malt (obviously Highland Park) and another stating secret Islay which was clearly Caol Ila so Scotch does it as well but it takes little time to search out the truth.
Not available currently at the LCBO. I don't stock a lot of bourbon, but I might have to keep an eye out for this in the future. Sounds like a tasty dram to kick start the weekend! OSWA nominations dropped today. One heck of a lineup. Looking forward to seeing who pulls ahead in the polls this year. Cheers Ty 🥃🥃 "m" e 🇨🇦
Thanks for the comment Marian! This dram completely surprised me after I was so unimpressed with the entry expressions from Ezra Brooks. Definitely recommend the Old Ezra, hopefully it turns back up at the LCBO. I hoped into the OSWAs about an hour into it. Really excited to see some of the bottle I personally own in some categories and have already submitted my votes. Should be fun. Personal goal for next year is to try and become a contributor. I think that would a tremendous honour and a wonderful experience. Cheers.
Would be great to see you on that contributors list. Go for it, my friend!
@@onewomanswhisky I’ll keep working to achieve that!
Jeez 105 for the summer is heavy dude, well done 😃 To be honest for me Laga makes more sense than the 105 😅 Cheers Tyler 🥃
lol. Thanks. Just something about Sherried whiskies and summer I guess haha. The Offerman is definitely my favourite.
Thank you for the shout out. This is a bottle that I hand pulled from a barrel. They use Irish peat so the profile is different. And ppm is like 10. This one was in a finishing barrel as well a port barrel. It’s 3 years old. I think a mix of virgin oak and used oak. 250 gallon copper pot still. Texas malt. Distilled off grain. 7-10 day ferment. With a am1 yeast and full size barrels.
Awesome specs and thanks for sharing Randal. Loved this one. Pure Apple Cider on the note. Smooth drinking too. Cheer my brother in whisky.
Great review! 1) Guinness 2) Rum 3) Charred oak But love them all! Cheers 🥃
Thanks for sharing John! I am going to need to track down the Guinness one. Sounds very interesting. Love your channel. Cheers sir.
Really interesting comparison! Great thoughts on tasting! I'm rooting for the single malt scotch versus the single malt from the U.S.!! Just prefer them!! I will try and check out Glen Mosset!! Cheers!
Thanks Christine. If you are not able to get this 2013 release try to grab a cask strength Benromach from a first fill bourbon barrel. I believe there should be some available out west now. Can’t go wrong with the Straths release either. Cheers.
@@SeawayWhiskyWire Great advice! Thanks so much!! 🙂
Enjoyed this, but appreciated the previous release a bit more.
Thanks for the comment Jon. What was your favourite release? The Guinness one has me interested in trying source a bottle.
The Nick Offerman ads are rather fun!
Yes! I love his commitment to the brand and the production value is epic.
Love this one. I think enjoy the previous a little more, but the rum sugar and softer Lagavulin peat certainly work well. Cheers!
Thanks for the comment Jon! I just keep going back to this as it is so easy drinking and tasty. I would love to try some of the past expressions, which one was your favourite?
@SeawayWhiskyWire probably the one just before. The charred oak
Sipping a wee dram of Lag 8 while watching your review.
Hi Chuck, thanks for the comment. Had the 8 a few weeks back and enjoyed it, not as much as this release or the 16 but it was more complex than I thought it would be. Will be work towards a proper review of the 8 in the future. Cheers sir.
I bought a Lagavulin 16 last night but I have a bunch of these on our bar! Delicious! The Charred Oak is my favourite Offerman Edition!! 16 is bliss even at $200 with taxes!! Cheers!! 🙂
Thanks for the comment Christine. The Guinness release has my interest but the charred oak sounds great too. The 16 is a classic for sure, but I think I’ll put this release of the 11 on par with it. Cheers.
@@SeawayWhiskyWire The 16 beats it for me but I respect everyone's palette. For me the 16 is elegant and refined.
I'm STILL searchin' for my long lost shaker of salt!!
Lol. I love Jimmy!
The better the Tequila, the the better the Margarita. I like the Anejo style, aged...with a hint of smoke. Never occurred to me to only rim half the glass. Thanks for the tip! Mixing a little fresh lime rind, or dried lime, into the salt is a nice touch as well. Hope you're enjoying a holiday this Monday. Cheers Ty 🥃🥃 "m"e 🇨🇦
Thanks for the comment M. It's a tad chilly here in the Seaway but the sun is warm. Enjoying a new dram of Ardbeg 10. Cheers.
@@SeawayWhiskyWire I got a bottle of Edradour 10 Oloroso for my birthday on Saturday. Think I'll be reaching for it fairly regularly. Even at 40%, it's a lovely wee dram. Enjoy that Ardbeg!
@@onewomanswhisky excellent! I will. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
@@SeawayWhiskyWire Why, thank you sir! 🤗
Big fan of that Lagavulin!!
Thanks Owen for the comment. I have yet to try the Offerman expression buy imagine they are great.
Just can't get into Tequila! Peated scotch all the way and in moderation! Cheers!
I got a peated scotch review coming next week for ya Christine. Just catching up on some cocktails before fall. Cheers.
@@SeawayWhiskyWire Exciting! My husband picked up some Torabhaig Allt Gleann - not sure if I like this style of brine and smoke or not. I need to spend more time with it!
Hey Ty! Would like to get my hands on the Offerman 11, but it only seems to be available up your way. That's okay, can't have it all! 😁 Let's see, top 5 for me this summer... 1) Beaver's Dram Sherry. This fast became a favourite. It's just so darned good. 2) Bushmills Black Bush. Lighter, but that's nice for this heat. 3) Ledaig 10 for a peated. Recently opened a bottle gifted to me from 3 years back. Knew it would be great, though I didn't realize how great. So glad to have it on the shelf. 4) Benriach The 12. Popular or not, I really enjoy this one! 5) "271" 10 year old single malt, from Magnotta Winery at Beamsville near Hamilton. It is, quite simply, a beautiful thing. Have a fantastic long weekend, my friend 🥃😁🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
Thanks for the comment and great list Marian! I must try and find a bottle of Ledaig 10…maybe at the SAQ…I think I would really enjoy it. The Offerman is a stellar whisky and one I have been enjoying maybe a tad too fast lol. But it’s so good I just can’t resist. Cheers to the long weekend and hope you get some great weather. All the best.
Trying for the first time while listening to your review. Quite tasty. Yes creamy and smooth at 100 proof. Pleasant and not over powering sweetness. An easy sipper. Agree it is a medium finish that lingues for a while but not what I say is long. In terms of is it a great bourbon? No but it is enjoyable and an easy drink. It is a great one to give to someone not able to handle a robust bourbon.
Totally agree with you Greg. I am a big fan of Yellowstones profile and certainly enjoy how it’s just sweet enough. Wish I had access to other expressions where I am. Thanks for the comment. Cheers
I am moving away from Bourbon - never a huge fan - and I don't love these scotch whiskies but hey we all have different palettes. I am all about Bourbon casks these days. Mostly I am cutting back for health and have a dram or two a week and mostly stick to good peated scotch right now! Moderation! Lagavulin 11 4th Edition is amazing.
Thanks for the comment Christine. That’s the great thing about whisky and everyone having different taste. The Offerman is excellent in fact I might have to grab a 2nd bottle. The Glenmorangie 10 is very easy and approachable and has some interesting flavours, I will side with you on the bourbon, I am not a die hard fan…yet. Still looking to find my favourites but there is way too many great scotches that I want to try first. Cheers and enjoy your weekend.
@@SeawayWhiskyWire 🙂
I was gifted a pair of charred (on the inside) oak whisky tumblers a number of years ago, made by a local artisan. Same deal with the beeswax. Used them a couple of times. They looked absolutely gorgeous, but I wound up re-gifting them. Didn't do anything for the tasting experience, from my perspective. Couldn't see the liquid, or the legs either. Well, at least they didn't leak! Guessing that these guys will have some tweaking to do. Cheers Ty ☕😁☕ Marian 🇨🇦
Thanks for the comment Marian, took me a while to share this review as I wanted to ensure I had not done anything improper in the prep. After a few weeks I had to complete the review as I had shared pictures on Instagram and had received messages from followers asking what I thought about it... I am not the biggest fan of slamming products but I felt I had to share my finding open and honestly. Cheers.
You a way too nice. But cool concept. Thank you for the review though taking on for the team.
Cheers mate.
Hey Ty. This sounds more or less like a 'buzz' bourbon. Very much appreciate the honest review. I'll be hanging onto my greenbacks for now! Cheers...to the weekend 🥃😁🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
Thanks Randal. Nothing wrong with this bourbon, just not made for my pallet. Hopefully the Old Ezra will be more enjoyable. Cheers mate.
Thanks for sharing your list. I love Islay, paradise on earth, my favorite diatilleries as well 🥃 Have you been to Islay?
Thanks you for the comment Mauricio! I have not been to Islay or Scotland for that matter, definitely on my bucket list. I hope to venture there someday. To your point, I am sure it is paradise on earth. Cheers and enjoy the content.

Can't argue with any of them mate, brilliant list, delicious whiskies!
Thanks you so much. Was a lot of fun to put together. Looking forward to more lists like this one. Cheers!
This is the magic that keeps us engaged. Same distillery, every offering different. Then multiply that one distillery by................ Cheers Ty, and have a great week 🥃🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
Thanks Marian, I was floored by the difference in these 3 but was even more impressed with the quality of casks used to bring out those flavours. Cheers and enjoy the week.
One of my favourite whiskies of all-time was an 8 year old single cask Benromach bottled exclusively for the SAQ, at 59.4% ABV. It was bottled in 2017 and I bought it in 2018 (and emptied it in 2022). It was matured in a first-fill bourbon cask. I miss it very much. Lucky you to be able to sample those three CS Benromachs. Cheers!
Thank you for the comment Chuck! Was very happy with all these samples. I am continually impressed with Benromach and all their expressions. Excellent craftsmanship. Cheers.
Good to know since I only have the "Whisky Rant" bottle.
Thanks for the comment Peter. The Whisky Rant was my personal favourite out of the bunch. All were excellent as to be expected from Benromach. Cheers.

I’ve been thinking about picking up a bottle of Garrison Brothers, thanks for this review!!! That Thomas H Handy is a fantastic rye, but expensive!!!! Lol however I’d still be tempted to grab it if I ever get the opportunity to.
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement Owen. The Lady Bird is a very unique whiskey and worth the adventure. The Thomas hit just right and I will definitely be on the hunt for it. Thanks for your comment. Cheers.
I’m so excited to try their latest release that I was able to grab!!! Great review, I’ll be keeping a closer eye out for the next release of this Realms of Rye!
Enjoy that Palm Trees in a Tropical Storm. It sounds incredible. Cheers Owen.
As others have said, Kilkerran and Glen Scotia make some phenomenal Campbeltown whiskies too!
Thanks for the comment Owen, I am very interested in continuing to discover Campeltown expressions and distilleries. The journey awaits as long as I can find them lol. Cheers.
Straight Rye all the way after single malt scotch!! I like this Thomas Handy. Prefer 100% rye!! Fabulous video!!
Merci! I was fortunate to have these sent to me from the Whiskey Shaman. He has a great podcast and channel as well. Cheers Christine!
I love a great 100% rye!
Wicked, they sent you a bottle!? So lucky! This rye was amazing, I was lucky enough to try it before it was released but wow is it expensive. Keen to see their next releases in this series!
I am very grateful to have received this from the crew. Anything SOV touches is gold. I am sure their next one will be epic! Cheers.
Still on The Coffee this morning ☕😆☕ That Garrison Bro's would be going into more than just a glass around here. Hot chocolate, apple sauce, apple pie, pecan pie, ice cream drizzle...I can think of a ton of different uses. T H Handy sounds pretty good too. Cheers Ty, and to The Whisky Shaman as well! Marian 🇨🇦

I was given a sample of this one, as the bottles sold out quickly, was very good. IMO the cask strength rye "cask 13" from Last Straw in Concord is at the same level or better and at less than half the price all in, a much better and available purchase for Rye lovers in Ontario.
Thanks for your comment Peter. I must try Last Straw to compare but also to support another great Canadian distillery. Cheers.

YES!!! 😁
Omg YES!
Pure liquid gold. Thoroughly enjoyed watching you wax lyrical about that dram. I shared this story with Jon, over at WN, thought I'd share it here as well. We were in St John NB 3 years ago, after helping a friend move from Ontario. There's a whisky pub there called Hopscotch. They have a ridiculous number of bottles to choose from and after going through their extensive list, I settled on the Springbank 12 Cask Strength. In 2021 it was one of the least expensive on their menu and, like you, I'd never had an opportunity to try any of the Springbank range, having missed out here when it was actually available. Long story short...I spent over 2 hours savouring that wee glass of magic amber potion. The group of VERY patient friends I was with likely thought me nuts. Maybe so, but even at that time it was becoming evident this was a product which would be difficult, if not downright impossible, to get my hands on in the future. That is the only dram of Springbank I've ever had the chance to try. I do have a regular Longrow and a Hazelburn 10 on the shelf, the Hazelburn as yet unopened. The Longrow is lovely, as is the double distilled Hazelburn (have had sips of both the 10 and the 15). Honestly, I haven't had a Campbeltown whisky yet that I haven't found to be exceptional. Kilkerran is excellent. I'll take any Glen Scotia I can find. A pandemic run to Ancaster got me a Glen Scotia Victoriana, which is probably the top favourite in my collection. Talk about industrial, it's a mechanic's shop in a bottle, in the very best of ways! I'm not counting that long ago SB 12 CS, tasted far from home with wonderful friends. Don't think anything will surpass that. Thanks for sharing your first foray into the delights of this extraordinary distillery. Marian 🇨🇦
Great story Marian, thanks for sharing. I must admit, after I finished this video, I went and sat on the deck and enjoyed another dram of SB10 for far too long. I am still floored by it being as transformative as it is. Here’s hoping I get some more opportunities to try some more expressions. Cheers.
I enjoyed watching you enjoy that SB10. In those long years between finding Springbank on our local liquor store shelves, I've been quite happy to "make do" with Kilkerran and Glen Scotia.
Thanks Chuck for the comment. I have yet to try or find any other Campbeltown scotches in my local LCBO but am looking forward to seeking them out! Cheers sir.
Good review! The last time it was at the LCBO it was $66, that tells you how long it has been since those clowns brought it in. SB 10 should not be a lottery bottle.
Wow Peter that must have been some time ago for sure. Definitely wish the SB 10 was more accessible for others because let I said, it’s really good! Cheers.
