Atlantic Fleet
Description
Turn-based tactical and strategic naval combat. Atlantic Fleet puts you in command of the Allies or Kriegsmarine (German Navy) in the longest military campaign of WWII, The Battle of the Atlantic.
Take command of surface ships, submarines as well as carrier and land based aircraft in the deadly struggle for control of Atlantic shipping lanes.
Protect convoys as the Allies or go on the offensive with deadly submarine wolf packs and surface raiders of the German Navy.
Play through 30 historical Single Missions or make your own with the Custom Battle editor.
Take on 50 mission campaigns for each navy and build your own fleet.
Recreate the challenges of the Battle of the Atlantic as you play a Dynamic Campaign with limited resources, historical units, actual convoy routes and real world-based weather.
It was a really interesting experiment to try and leave England in the war until America joined instead of crushing them early. I'm not sure what you were supposed to do to sink the kind of tonnage the game wanted except sitting u-boats in every square of the map. It was still a very entertaining series though!
I’ve tried U-Boats in every square before and it’s rather difficult even then to win-I got up to some 500-600k tons though which says it’s probably the only way to do it.
Absolutely one of my favourite series on TH-cam, thanks Taff! Would be interesting to see some Pacific based action next
For the next time with the Kriegsmarine, I'd suggest upgrading to the newest models of ships and U-Boats. Imagine what a fleet of Type XXIs could do...

are Super / dreadnought battleship's in this game ?
@@creatorsfreedom6734 You can get them in the Campaign Mode. The H39-class for the Kriegsmarine with two ships - the Hutten and the Berlichingen. On the Royal Navy, there is the Lion-class with two units, too, the Lion and the Temeraire.

You made it a little farther than I did trying the same difficulty factor. I made it to the 3rd week in Jan 45 sinking 420k tons per month. I'm trying another run at it, but this time keep a 20 boat fleet until the type 21 u-boats are available and then make a fleet of them. I'll try to use the 21s in two boat packs and patrol all of the seas around England. If this attempt fails then I don't see how the Kriegsmarine can win after the US enters the war. Damn good try Taff.
You can't in my playthrough I sunk tone of warships tonnage and I think over two million merchant tonnage and the game ended somewhere in 45 saying allies preparing for dday
Instead of stopping Atlantic Fleet, do a weekly battle between ships where it would be extremely close, almost down to the point where both ships are scuttled or sunk. That would be epic.
Yeah... You should've blanketed the map with single U-Boats instead of concentrating on the main Convoy Routes I guess...

Loved this series Taff, thanks I don’t think there was much more you could of done.
You did your level best, Taff, but I have foreseen this result from a long way back. It was always entertaining to watch your playthrough, but obviously you need to reconsider your approach for next time, once the US enters the war, your tactics need to change and you have to think seriously consider not using surface ships, but replacing them with the most modern U-boats available to you. By 1944, you really need to only have the Type XXI U-boats in your fleet. You saw how effective they are compared to the Type VII and Type IX in this last episode.
As for what I would recommend for future videos, perhaps a series of War On The Sea using the Tokyo Express mod would be something for you to get your teeth into, but of course, it is up to yourself what you choose to do. I have seen Wolfpack245 and TortugaPower both doing WOTS with the Tokyo Express mod and it is much more challenging than the vanilla version of the game. I think you would enjoy it.

@Taff in Exile maybe do a second Kriegsmarine play through on the hardest difficulty but don’t show any mercy in the beginning?!
I'm currently playing this, with no mods. I'm in July 1941. I've got 19 red bars on top, which I think means I'm on the verge of winning. The RN is running out of battleships and battle cruisers, and at time hunts my task forces with their submarines. Two of them are on the bottom. Largest ship I've lost is Admiral Sheer.
How did you manage to do this? Hint on tactics, please. I completed the entire campaign but the Royal Navy crushed me)
@@vladislav_altair I form task foces with my surface units. Usually the twins, plus a cruiser or two, and a couple destroyers, in one, with a pocket battleship, a cruiser, and destroyers, in others. That gives me the firepower in each to take on a RN battleship. I have my U-boats focus on his heavy units when they encounter one in a convoy.
@@richardwolf8024 Thank you very well! Surprisingly, I do the same thing on the mobile version and lose. Sometimes a pocket battleship isn't enough, even though it's good. Honestly, I thought that the surface forces should be disbanded in favor of all-out new U-boats. Last question for you: did task force tactics alone help you, or can you try one huge flotilla of 3+ battleships and cruisers? Will there be more tonnage of freighters in battles?
@@vladislav_altair He will rasrely have more than one battleship with a convoy. You don't need a fleet to take one out. I make multiple task forces, for better coverage.

Great series Taff, how about a cold waters campaign I remember from one of your older series of you getting a sub stuck on the bottom of the ocean and waiting ages to get it back up and running, was edge of your seat stuff!
Way to keep fighting even as the odds of victory grew harder. I would be keen to see a Pacific theater game, but you may trust your instincts. 👍

Very enjoyable, I'd like tgamepleo see some more Hidden & Dangerous 2 gameplay? But yes I've finally caught up and got to the end.
I loved every episode, thank you so very much. I may have made a similar suggestion elsewhere, 'mann the deck-gun' is cool but everybody seems to have the same over-priced merch? However a 'sparkling hat to diminish the influence of the 'moon-people'; designed by general Aulus himself? Well, no question, you just have to buy it. Somebody said ' cor, doesn't he look sexy in that hat?' Don't take my word for it, I quote here, 'a leading scientist had to go to the bathroom after seeing the tinfoil in extremis', several women almost had an interest but then they went 'naah' which only goes to prove that they were playing hard to get? The ladies love it, it is a work in progress to slip it into main-stream culture and I only do it 'coz I care?
To misquote Aishling Bea 'you can shove it up your flute? Well those of us with enquiring minds and general good health might give it a go? It's a very patient woman that doesn't 'give out' before you have finished 'Booleavogue' on the tin[-whistle?

How about swat 4? Its similar to hidden and dangerous but based in law enforcement! I know that's a little bit different to what you usually do but its a gem of a game! Cool vid as always taff!😁

Could you reach that tonnage per month with only uboats ? I mean with no surface warships on the map?
I’ve tried it and I think if you pull out the XXIs quickly enough and sink EVERY convoy ship in every battle you’re given. I left quite a few battles without sinking ships and I managed 500-600k tons per month-if you sunk every merchant ship thrown at you I think you could. I’ll soon enough probably test it and see.

And the war for the Atlantic is won by...KAISER SHIPBUILDING! Que "Star and Stripes Forever".
Ah yes "high difficulty" settings in such games..... By comparison:
IRL (1939-1945):
Around 3.500 merchants + 175 allied warship sunk
Your campaign:
Around 4.725 merchants + 410 allied warship sunk...... + YOU STILL HAVE AN ACTIVE NAVY.... and under 10% of the IRL Kriegsmarine losses.
The game sets the bar way to high
Completely agree. I think all of the allied heavy ships have been sunk and 2.5 times the IRL tonnage...it's just not realistic in any capacity. As you mentioned, he has an active navy that could have stopped everything at Normandy. I've read a bit on how to win, and it's just not really doable. You have to just about have a capital ship / submarine in every sector of the ocean with extra in the high traffic areas. I just can't comprehend how you can win.
When I once lost on the German side, all the Allies had left were some measly corvettes. Try doing a shore bombardment with those nutshells.
I wonder if the fact you sunk all the warships made it so that the game could not create enough convoys for you to sink
Next series, please play Pacific fleet Japanese campaign...

U-2502 sinks a whole convoy fast - do you now see and understand that you should have deployed type 21's as soon as they were available? And so the expected result....
