I honestly try to make out SpongeBob's first meeting with Sandy from the series and the camp, it could make sense🤔 and I have to admit the kid voice actors were very adorable with the characters.
Hot take: Even though the retcons were kinda dumb, I genuinely enjoyed this movie and I feel like it’s over hated. The art style was gorgeous and spongebob was adorable, and it actually had me watching the whole movie
@@MagicalBread ok I can agree with you on that, I did get a little bit mad over how they changed the backstory and the story but I still feel like it’s a good movie.
This movie had such weird pacing, plus, the part near at the end where the characters talk about their time in summer camp really broked the flow of the story and was also a promotion for their new upcoming show Kamp Koral.
The CGI was indeed very well done. The Kamp Koral scenes were kinda annoying and it was so much that it felt like they were really using the movie to advertise this upcoming spin-off series. The western scenes felt so out of place and didn't add ANYTHING to the story. I wish they hadn't included that. Also, I sort of liked how during SB's court case, his friends were telling the crowd how good SB was and stuff, but I think the focus of this emotional scene should've been more on Gary and SB's relationship.
The first Spongebob movie was, of course, the best, but I'll defend the second movie as one I thoroughly enjoyed. As long as you don't compare it to the first, I think it's perfectly fun. It had some originality, the dolphin character was actually from an episode, and unlike the first, IMO, the supporting cast got more of a chance to shine. I also used to work on the street in Savannah where they filmed some live-action scenes, so that added to my enjoyment. This one, though... I pretty much agree with Vailskibum94 (and other reviewers) that this seemed ...forced... out of character in some ways, horribly written in others, and more of a vehicle for Camp Coral than a movie that stands on its own.
Good for you, but it really didn’t do it for me for several reasons, from several aspects being rehashed to the very slow pacing like the worthless dream sequence adding NOTHING to the plot.
Now You can't just say it's non canon because of a recon. Maybe Tea at the treedom was the original scene for Spongebob and Sandy to meet but maybe they wanted to change it plus a recon is a NEW canon as in this movie showed how Spongebob and Sandy ACTUALLY ment, yes I'm saying that tea at the treedom isn't canon anymore!
Camp Koral was ok. Every Spongebob episode is split into two parts, (I'm going to call it A, and B) In the B part of the first episode of season one, Spongebob meets Sandy. So him meeting her in Camp Koral doesn't make sense. But Squidward and Patrick already know Spongebob in Part A on S1E1. Patrick gives Spongebob motivation to get a job at the Krusty Krab, while Squidward is seen cleaning the window and saying something like "why is he here?" Never in a single part, A or B do we see Spongebob meeting Patrick or Squidward. I will agree with you on the Sandy prat, but not the Squidward or Patrick part.
Let’s all pretend that this movie isn’t canon, but Kamp Koral was just weird. They should have like recreated on how Spongebob met Sandy, how he got employed at the Krusty Krab and how he actually got Gary.
I think that the Camp Coral thing was only so that Spongebob meets Gary but then nickelodeon saw the potential in that idea and made another team work in the kamp coral series and told to the team working on the movie "promote it". They obviously had no option but to say yes. Still, they delivered and made a movie that I personally really liked lol
This movie is the only one that didn’t involve Stephen at it’s fullest. He died halfway through the production of the movie and that’s where most things changed.
Crazy how that Kamp Koral back story scene ruined the movie for me. Maybe if they talked about episodes from the show, then it would have made the movie a whole lot better.
Well, this could be canon if sponge Bob forgot who Sandy and Mr Krabs were but he remembered Squidward andPatrick as in truth or square when spongebob moved in he said to Patrick and squidward “Squidward! Patrick! Looks who’s living here now!” I think
In the kamp koral scene I always thought giving the characters kid voice actors wasn’t right. Usually when their are kids in a cartoon I usually prefer the actors sounding like actual kids. But in this case spongebob with a different actor just sounds. Ugh. They still should’ve used the original actors during the kamp koral scene too.
When i watched the 3rd spongebob movie and saw the camp coral scene (Yes we all know spongebob and sandy met by a clam) My theory: spongebob met sandy in camp coral, then years later sandy has to go back to texas and spongebob didnt see her in a long time. (Pls dont attack me just bc i said this, this aint a complaint or something. its just a theory)
The Spongebob Movie from 2004 is the canon ending to the series, according to Stephen Hillenburg. Everything that comes after, happens before the events of the first movie.
Whats even worse is that the first scrapped version of it was about travelling universes to find Gary (there would be human Patrick and Spongebob, evil space cats etc) and it was made by Steven Hillenburg. But the MOMENT right after he died they trashed his idea
I had the same thought when I was watching the movie, when I saw spongebob meeting Sandie at Camp Coral I was like wait...didn't he meet here for the first time when Sandie movies to bikini bottom. It like every cherecter from Camp Coral had a total mind wipe when they left the camp and after then they met each other for the first time after camp Coroll. And like other movies I didn't have a memory that I liked that I remember from the movie. There was nothing special I took home after the movie in my mind, nothing special
I don’t like some things in this movie, but to me this feels like a step in the right direction for spongebob. It feels like a older style spongebob in a new sponge bob body. I CANT STAND HOW THEY CHANGED SPONGEBOBS BACKSTORY, but...... in my opinion this is my favorite spongebob movie out of all of them. Man, even though I can’t see them, I now this comment already has about 1,000 dislikes.
the movie wasn't horrible...Im a life long spongebob fan and still watch it to this very day despite being 17 LOL but it was a good movie I loved it not as much as the other ones but I respect your opinion
In my opinion everything about this movie felt like original season 1-3 + og movie Spongebob. Setting the Camp Coral flashbacks asides, the jokes were hilarious and it actually had real emotional scenes. In my opinion way better than the second movie. Besides Plankton teaming up with Spongebob, that movie has absolutely nothing good in it. I loved the throwbacks to the first movie, including Planktons failed movie scheme on his wall, Goofy Goober and the Patty Wagon. It also felt like a semi series finale to the entire show, just like the first movie. Just wished it was in 2D.
When I watched it and saw sandy in camp coral I was just like BOI EPISODE ONE SEASON ONE I get if they said he met squidward and Patrick in it because there backstorys with spongebob were never actually explained I don't think but.. Not sandy.
I kinda wish on the first episode where mr. krabs hired spongebob, he would be like: " aye, there was someone named Spongebob back at the camp. Oh! its you! Of course i'll hire you spongebob, you inspired me to have me own restaurant and look at me now! just fill out this application and we'll be good."
@Khalil Johnson I mean, Spongebob was just as fine the way it was without the whole lore retcon thing. It makes sense for everyone in bikini bottom to not remember Spongebob from camp, or if Nickelodeon's whole multiverse theory is true. But we all know that Spongebob is being used for cash.
Yes, they changed Spongebob’s backstory. Yes, Spongebob said ‘crappy’. But I personally love the movie. The pacing kinda seems like a normal Spongebob episode almost and the song ‘The Secret to the Formula is You’ is a really good song and actually made me kinda teary watching it for the first time. Same with the tribute at the end. This movie is, in my opinion, the best in the Spongebob movie trilogy and nothing will change my mind.

@@MagicalBread ok I can agree with you on that, I did get a little bit mad over how they changed the backstory and the story but I still feel like it’s a good movie.
@@shevthegreb757 yeah but they didn’t change to this degree, but your not entirely wrong either way
I agree with you actually.
"Steven who? The sponge creator? No we don't remember him" Nick executives
@Dr.Sawbones But spin-offs are against Hillenburg
I dont care what people say . i seen it , i love it and i will watch it again
same
Welp I live in america... Where this movie was made BTW so why Hasn't it come out here yet?!?!
Good for you, but it really didn’t do it for me for several reasons, from several aspects being rehashed to the very slow pacing like the worthless dream sequence adding NOTHING to the plot.
I didn’t even watch the movie yet.
@@StarbitzTheSpookyClown Go watch it
We live in a world where TikTok is a thing and SpongeBob says crappy in a kids movie.
I am proud to say the spongebob movie was the first movie I ever watched when I was a tiny little baby.
This movie is what I’ll point to when someone says “3D can’t be as expressive as 2D.” Seriously, the visuals look great.
"Everyone's a critic."- Hard SpongeBob Fan
Now You can't just say it's non canon because of a recon.
Maybe Tea at the treedom was the original scene for Spongebob and Sandy to meet but maybe they wanted to change it plus a recon is a NEW canon as in this movie showed how Spongebob and Sandy ACTUALLY ment, yes I'm saying that tea at the treedom isn't canon anymore!
I don't really care about comedies it's just fun watching it.
Vailskibum: Sponge on the Run is the WORST SpongeBob Movie
Saving Bikini Botom: Hold my cash
why does kid spongebob have a voice that doesn't fit him but kid sandy keeps the same voice?
If this film is set in an alternate universe, then I can’t wait for the fourth movie Into the Spongey-Verse.
1:47 dont forget he said "fricking" in the first movie
"He doesn't deserve to die." - Squidward Tentacles
the only good part of his speech tbh...
you know that the word crap was found in the episode were Patrick's rock was a sea turtle shell. who's lathing now.
Man this movie was such a disappointment
I had high hopes for it
I remembered how excited I was for it after watching some clips of the movie now i have second thoughts
I loved this movie, definitely better than Sponge out of water.
When i watched the 3rd spongebob movie and saw the camp coral scene
(Yes we all know spongebob and sandy met by a clam)
My theory: spongebob met sandy in camp coral, then years later sandy has to go back to texas and spongebob didnt see her in a long time.
(Pls dont attack me just bc i said this, this aint a complaint or something. its just a theory)

The Spongebob Movie from 2004 is the canon ending to the series, according to Stephen Hillenburg. Everything that comes after, happens before the events of the first movie.
1:49 is nothing new dude first spongebob movie king neptune said "damning"
SpongeBob says "Crappy." And Squidward says "Fricking."
And Patrick says sitting

I don’t think u caught it but when kelpy G pops up on the tv I’m pretty sure the song he’s playing is Gary come home
Homer: *You tried your best and you failed miserably lesson is never try*
Whats even worse is that the first scrapped version of it was about travelling universes to find Gary (there would be human Patrick and Spongebob, evil space cats etc) and it was made by Steven Hillenburg. But the MOMENT right after he died they trashed his idea
It works as a special, but not as a movie. That’s all I’m gonna say.
agreed, I think this would've worked better as a TV movie / special much like truth or square or atlantis squarepantis
ZOMG SPONGBOOB SAID CRAPPY C WORD, HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT I AM LITERALLY SHAKING AND CRYING RIGHT NOW
Well, he did say "frigging" in the first film.

I feel like they tried to fit as many things in the short runtime, should've cut some scenes tbh.
yeah like that big zombie pirate one needed to be cut..it added nothing to the movie

Lemme say one Word before reading any comments: BACKSTORY
It's Like They Just Forgot That One Episode From Show Where SpongeBob And Sandy Really Meet.
Didn’t the original creator of Spongebob say he did NOT want a 3-D Spongebob movie himself and that he HATED the idea of it?
I swear to God, Nickelodeon is testing me-
I've lost all respect I had for nickelodeon long ago
I'm now starting to think the crew betrayed Stephen as soon as he died in 2018
He never said that, If he did why did sponge out of water come out before he died? He actually said that he didn't want any spinoffs...
@@Bootymcdonald he died in 2018?? I only found out about it this year...
When I watched it and saw sandy in camp coral I was just like BOI EPISODE ONE SEASON ONE I get if they said he met squidward and Patrick in it because there backstorys with spongebob were never actually explained I don't think but.. Not sandy.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the third was disappointing. It could've used better writing, like not changing the backstory, AT all.
I miss when the spongebob movie 2004 was in theaters :(
I kinda wish on the first episode where mr. krabs hired spongebob, he would be like:
" aye, there was someone named Spongebob back at the camp. Oh!
The first movie was golden and I heavily enjoyed the second, but I haven't seen the third yet
What about kimcartoon
@Valiskibum94 you should do a review of all the three movies comparing them in categories
Kid Danger: *raises a eyebrow* 3-D spongebob? Jesus Tapping dancing Christmas Christ! *slaps his face with his hoof* are they TRYING to revise 2012 tmnt?! Jesus Christ!
1 thing on the movie I just realized that spongebob meet Mr.Crabs on the Kamp Koral but he meet him on the every first episode on spongebob right?
