    Honestly the animation in the trailers for this show looks like it’s not even done. The colors seem unsaturated and designs seem like they were rounded everywhere. But, at least we still have the original show and rewatched our favorite episodes cause I guess cable is not a thing anymore:

      Even if we ignore Stephen Hillenburg's death, they have disrespected Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years in other ways.
      Look at how Nickelodeon and ViacomCBS are treating Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years! Using unfinished footage to promote it during the NFL and releasing it on an obscure streaming service called Paramount+.
      No matter how you slice it, it just all feels disrespectful.

And season 10 is season 10, not 1-3, not the "classic episodes" you'd rather watch. Stephen was apart of season 10 which wasn't all too great. He was also there for when the characters started to get those exaggerated expressions that everyone hates. So just people ya'll don't like kamp koral, doesn't mean steve wouldn't like it too. Most people don't like season 10 or the exaggerated expressions either, yet he was apart of that. @spankypants2793 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      You're grasping at straws here. The Krusty Krab blew up literally every episode. There were instances where there would be irreparable damage done to the Bikini Bottom. Spongebob is a cartoon, it has no continunity.

    • @zombies4evadude24
      @zombies4evadude24 3 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      @@spankypants2793 well here’s the thing, those were jokes. Maybe those endings weren’t quite canonical, but original first episode 7 odd episodes were meant to set up the world of the characters and introduce things. Until then, they haven’t contradicted anything about him meeting Sandy in Tea At The Treedome, or Plankton in the episode Plankton!
      Plus from a logical standpoint it makes no sense. Sandy was sent as a scientist to study the undersea life and do scientific experiments, by which her Treedome gets funded for (Chimps Ahoy). Why would a random 7 odd year old be allowed to just wander around with no training, or supervision from any fully trained scientists (doubt any Bikini Bottomites know how or would need to know about water suits for “land critters”).
      Additionally, she’s also stated on many occasions that she grew up in Texas, so why would she be going back and forth like that. If she already lived there for a substantial amount of time why would she feel so homesick in the episode Texas?
      I could go on and on but they’re ruining Spongebob’s albeit small yet solid continuity and charm and turning it into just... an uninspired, dull, complicated mess. And it’s not even just the story, but the boring jokes, slow pacing, bland art style, darker shading, and even the entire concept of younger versions of a characters feels like those lame trends from the 90s and early 2000s designed for young children to make a quick buck.
      It’s really quite sad.
      I want to tell myself it’s good, but I just... can’t. I must ask myself as Spongebob once did, “Where’s the love...” And I wonder if even Stephen Hillenberg himself realized it’s cruel fate and exclaimed, “I tried to tell them... but they wouldn’t listen to me!”. And then a looming shadow of doubt.

    I still hate what is happening now. Like, spongebob should have been over in 2004 after the movie, but OH BOY LOOK AT THIS it's 2021 and WE STILL sucking on it. It's okay if we don't know what Stephen Hillenburg was exactly thinking of this, it's okay if co-workers opinions are varying, but what about us? What about all of us who watched them for all of those years? I could understand a bit and tolerate why they kept the original show still going and created second movie, but anything else is just beyond me. It still painful to look at. It still does not feel normal or wanted.
    You're free to argue with me and tell the facts like these, but i stand this opinion. I loved spongebob for almost whole life, and this is heartbreaking.

    Here’s how I see it: Stephen Hillenburg didn’t want spin-offs back in the days when they were planning on ending the show with the movie. If I remember hearing that he left the series for a while after that, and the time when he was gone is when the series was going downhill, and started getting good again when he came back. However, when he came back, he had a new perspective, because it was clear that the show would not going away anytime soon, so supporting and expanding the show with spin-offs at that point might’ve now been a good move.

    The biggest problem for me surrounding it isn't the show itself, but the fact it's a prequel with all the characters. It has been well established that Sandy moved to Bikini Bottom a few episodes into the series and that Spongebob moved into Bikini Bottom almost on accident and that he and Squidward met when he moved in. Not to mention we also already Established that Spongebob and Patrick were friends since birth as were Mr. Krabs and Plankton. That is the established Spongebob Lore and it should have been stuck too. If it was just Spongebob and Patrick then it would be ok but not all the characters.

    Mmm...
    There's a lot of vagueness in the quotes. The stuff Stephen saw was related to a new animation style, specifically for the third movie.
    I don't think that DIRECTLY translates to, "he totally knew about the show and it 100% had his approval!!1"
    Could he have known? Possibly.
    The other thing to take into consideration is that Stephen was trying to take care of his health, so keeping up with what Nickelodeon's plans were for Spongebob was probably not his top priority towards the end of his life.
    Personally, I don't think he knew, not to the extent people are assuming.
    At most, he probably knew Nickelodeon wanted to do more Spongebob stuff in the new animation style (remember, they were ALREADY experimenting with a different style for the Christmas and Halloween specials). He probably didn't know any specifics, though.
    Mainly, with the end of his life approaching, he trusted the Spongebob team with his baby, hoping they would make the right decisions for the series.
    So... is this something Stephen would have approved of?
    ... The jury is still out. Honestly, we will probably never get an answer, because the man is dead now.
    Maybe Kamp Koral will be awesome... but even so, my thought is that it will be more like "authorized" fanfiction - in that it technically isn't canon, but Nickelodeon is giving permission to go ahead and make it anyway.
    At any rate, we can still enjoy the original show. =)

Just because he knew dosen't mean he wanted it, we will never know if by the time of his death if he was on board or not, I hope he was

    i'm going to take Paul Tibbitt's word over the current showrunner's. The current showrunners have changed the show so much its essentially a different take on spongebob at this point. i'm a massive spongebob fan, but i'm not going to be taking much of what the current team has to say about it considering nick has been having them all do damage control as best as possible for the past few weeks, they aren't taking criticism lightly, and pretty much anyone on the team could call the "baby version" of any show from a mile away as failure material. it never worked. flinstones babies, tom and jerry babies, pup named scooby doo, muppet babies, and many many more that went this same route. i can probably speak for most when i say they shouldve left the kamp koral plot in the movie and not touched it again. most people just want them to continue work on the main show. thats all they need. they didn't need this show, and certainly didn't need to make them children or essentially write out several established plot points only to last minute correct some lol. it may be a cartoon but they took the creator saying "ok, i guess we can give this a shot" and ran 1000 extra yards with it

    • @potentfrog

      @EXTV pup named scooby doo did well but not until waay after its original air date, it was the rebroadcasting that did most of its popularity and hype

    • @Attmay
      @Attmay 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      *Muppet Babies* ran 8 seasons, won several Emmy Awards, and likely ensured there'd be Muppet movies after Jim Henson died. That was the first, but all the wannabes fell short because none of them had that show's basic conceit of the main characters interacting with real-world media that made it unique. For 1980s kids, it was our *Rugrats.* The new version managed to succeed where ABC's live-action *The Muppets* failed: instead of self-consciously trying to be "adult," they accept their lot as a kids' show and do the best they can within that realm.
