  • Does your car make an irritating metallic noise when passing on the pavement or hole? Does it sound like a tin can or a counter bell coming from the wheel?
This noise probably comes from the brake caliper/pad!
But... Before leaving disassembling everything, do a test:
Drive the car on a paved road and with the windows open to hear better, step lightly on the brake pedal and see if the noise stops while you press the pedal.
If you stop, you can be sure this video will solve your problem!
Otherwise, if the noise does not stop when you apply the brake, the problem may be in your car's suspension, such as: bushing, pivot, connecting rod, steering terminal or even shock absorber.
So if you've already identified that the noise comes from the brake, in this video I'll show you how to get rid of the noise of the brake caliper hitting/vibrating very easily.
It can easily be done at home with just a few tools and a "double-sided" tape.
There are usually 2 screws that hold the clamp, in my case, I needed the 12mm spanner.
So far, it's the same procedure if you want to change the brake pads too, just remove the caliper and the pads come out very easily and you can change the brake pads at home.
This car here in the video is a 2004 Toyota Corolla, but the brake caliper is the same in many cars, it's very similar.
When removing the pins that hold the caliper, it is good to take a look to see if it is well greased and to see if the rubber boot is not torn, because if it is, dirt can get inside and end up locking the brake.
I used white motorcycle chain grease
so as not to harm the hood rubber, because if you use common grease, this rubber will rot.
So what makes the annoying noise is the fact that the back of the insert keeps hitting iron on iron with the tweezers.
And that's where we added double-sided tape.
When disassembling the inserts, you will see the tweezer mark where it touches the back of the insert.
It is in this friction mark that we are going to glue a small piece of double-face.
I've already done this on the rear wheel, which is also a disc brake and it's been a year now that there's this double-sided tape there, I even took it off now to see, everything is fine and working, so I recorded this video here, to help whoever is bothered by this noise of darkness.
Car braking is still ok, light brake. Rest assured that despite being a workaround, it is a practical thing and will save you, because if you need to change the tweezers because of the noise, it costs R$500 each.
    CURIOSITIES ABOUT BRAKE SYSTEMS:
The big leap in brake technology was taken in the early 1900s, when in 1902 English inventor Frederick Lanchester (also known as “The Leonardo” of the machine age) invented the Disc Brake. According to research carried out in specialized bibliographies, disc brakes were already used in England in the early 1890s, but it was Frederick Lanchester who patented the design of this brake and applied it to his first vehicle.
*80% of car braking power is concentrated in the front brakes and only 20% in the rear.
    Brake Types:
*Drum, used in older vehicles and in the rear brakes of many vehicles.
*With disc or ventilated disc, found in most modern vehicles. The simplest ones usually use disc brakes at the front and drum at the rear, while the more sophisticated ones use discs on the four wheels almost entirely.
*Some systems can be mechanical, so the activation of the brake calipers necessarily occurs by hydraulic activation.
*Power-assisted, as in modern vehicles. It has greater efficiency and durability, less pedal reaction time and requires less effort to drive.
*Air brakes are only used in heavy vehicles, as they have greater braking capacity. Its disadvantages are the longer reaction time and greater actuation force, forcing the driver to press the pedal earlier and with more effort on the foot.
    So that's it!
