I saw them live in the front row at the wiltern hotel in downtown Los Angeles. June 2017. Albsoulty sublime. I waited 33 years to see that show..and it was worth every second. Great show. 🎬
These were special shows! The Revolution played these songs right because they are the original band. And it sounded so good! Princes Reign was so huge! He was even more popular in Europe than in America! They loved him over there! Europeans know quality music when they hear it and Prince had the Goods! The shows are a celebration of his music and yet I still have a melancholy feeling because he’s not walking out on stage like he used to and be the MC! When Prince shows up the Party Starts! But he can’t anymore because he’s gone to the Sky. Gone from this World anyway! All I can say is I always recorded his appearances on TV whenever I found out he was playing. I knew he was special and I appreciated him and his talent. So at least I didn’t take him for granted when he was alive. Thanks Revolution for keeping his music, memory and legacy alive! 👏🏻🎸😎
What I loved about this gig was how they mostly played the full versions/arrangements of His songs, whereas when I saw Him, He did loads of those medleys/snippits/stop-start-bits that He used to do, which did my head in. :-)
Amazing! No wonder Prince chose Wendy to be in his band. She is so damn smart and talented, too! This was the best tribute show to see. Excellent! Thanks for providing it on TH-cam! I can’t go to live shows anymore so this is the next best thing. 🎸👏🏻😎
The song they wrote for Prince, Sometimes it Snows in April, was so beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. I will always love Prince and The Revolution. God bless them and thank you to you who shared this here! 🌹
Wasn't expecting this but I'm blubbing like a baby right now out of the blue. Avoided these things like the plague but now I know I missed out BIG TIME seeing The Revolution live. Absolutely superb and so professional. How the heck they got through these songs is unbelievable. When they come back next year by hook or by crook I'm there. Job be damned 💜
PRINCE HAS GOT TO BE SMILING OUT THERE IN THE UNIVERSE SOMEWHERE! THIS IS GREAT!!! THE REVOLUTION IS STRAIGHT REPRESENTING. R.I.P. PRINCE. THE G.O.A.T. 1love
Awesome guys, I loved it! So many beautiful memories. A big thank you, let's get funky for our guy Prince, we miss you buddy. I am sure you are looking down and smiling at what talented musicians you created. Again I miss you guy so much, God bless you Prince. Oh yah Rocket Pool thank you to you too for this concert, concerts are the best.
I am here a. Year later and am enjoying every minute of this And I am pumped with pride for them. And for Prince, his creation of the Revolution, they are amazing! I love you Revolution! I love and miss you Prince.....
So ecstatic I found this and reliving all the wonderful times - concerts and even backstage a couple of times. It is 2021, the fifth year of his passing, still heartfelt and tears. 💜🕊💜
Thank you for sharing the Revolution & Stokley Williams' performance - simply suberp!! I fortunately went to see The Revolution in Boston, Massachusetts last October - my first purple experience! 💜💜💜
Watching it a year later and I am still pumped Revolution! It makes me cry with pride and emotion, for you and from our Prince's creation! I miss him a lot , Thank you Revolution!!! I know it must be hard some times when you are preforming for Prince, since his passing, we appreciate you and love you for it! .God be with you! I miss you Prince so much!!!! God bless....
Thank you SO much for this vid! Watching Wendy and Lisa ask if "the water was warm enough" again....brought tears to my eyes....then "Take me with You", and the prelude to "Lets Go Crazy" had me completely broken down. Prince, aka "The Kid", would be so proud! Wendy still has mad skills with that Minneapolis Funky Guitar, baby. She still steps back with that left foot when she plays, love ya so much girls! And HEY! Morris Day, you ain't too phat to fly.....Where r YOU and Jerome? And btw: WHAT FN TIME IS IT! IT? BBOOOOOOOCK! Yayus!
Chills...chills...chills! Prince did an absolute...amazing Job...He picked the right mix to this band...the REVOLUTION...WHAT A LEGACY...tribute for the FAM.s...Prince knew...he just knew...Brown Mark and Wendy...Mark in charge...Prince worked independently with each one for this reason...
This performance makes me so proud. Prince will be smiling right now and I'm a true fan and I go way back and the Revolution was superb and Stokely topped it off very nicely...
You can DEFINITELY see and hear why Wendy & Lisa are as successful as they are. That intro to "Sometimes It Snows In April" is fricking brilliant and SO gorgeous. I look up to these two as women, and as human beings. The song itself is bittersweet, but Wendy and Lisa bring it to such a huge level. This is why real music, made by real musicians will ALWAYS trounce artificial, bland, soul-less "music" that the masses consume.
I love how Wendy and Lisa incorporated one of THIER songs into the intro of "Sometimes It Snows In April"...it's that little section just before the opening chords of Sometimes it snows in April.
Absolutely wonderful. I wasn't sure what the gig would be like but am really pleased that it's so clear that Prince was an inspiration, muse and creative that they wanted to truly honour. Thanks for uploading to share the joy with so many others that couldn't make it to the gigs.
I was there on 14th Feb- brilliant night. Unfortunately I passed out with heatstroke when when Wendy was talking (yep that was me!) And had to listen to Purple rain with the nurse lol!
Are they still touring? They do Prince f**king PROUD with their music & performances. I hope they continue to do a few shows a year at least. I'd LOVE to see them if they come to MA.
Thank u for sharing this amazing performance of the Revolution. Then afterwards the UK Purple Funkateers were treated to a free after-party at the Sindercomb with Martin Kember & Alphonso Starr 💜
The best part for me hands down was hearing then play that little insert of the song HEAD with the doctors solo. That has been and always will be my favorite prince song, and I was so surprised they even played any part of it. Not one you get to hear that much.
Before Wendy there was Dez and before BrownMark there was André... André Cymone is one of the very originator of the Minneapolis Sound because he created the group Grand Central which included Prince on guitar, Morris Day on drums, André on basse, Linda ( André 's sister) on keyboards
Oh Wow! 33:27 STRAIGHT OUTTA: Minneapolis, USA! That sound....That Funky sound! Funk is to Minneapolis as Jazz is to New Orleans, or Blues is to Chicago! Motown no longer sits alone in Funkytown, baby, not after Jimmy Jam and Prince and Sheila E. and Morris Day and the Time, Vanity 6, Appolonia, Andre Cymone, Klymaxx, and damn wait! I gotta take a breath! 🎹🎺🎷🎸🎤🎵☝️☝️☝️
I remember when I was 13 my mom bought tickets for Prince and the Revolution purple rain tour Memphis Tennessee Mid-South Coliseum I had a ball that night my first marijuana contact High. Prince told them to turn on the lights and the lights came on and it was so hazy
Brown Mark’s voice sounds absolutely amazing!!
Mr. Mark has still got it!!! 1love
Je regarde le premier groupe de prince the révolution
Yes, he’s great and was a good part of the Revolution!
De acuerdo ❤
And his bass lines are spot on. Amazing musician.
This is amazing.. as close as you can get to a Prince concert anymore. Throw a little Sheila E. and The Time in and you got yourself a PARTY!
THAT should be a tour immediately.
I saw them live in the front row at the wiltern hotel in downtown Los Angeles. June 2017. Albsoulty sublime. I waited 33 years to see that show..and it was worth every second. Great show. 🎬
WENDY'S KILLING IT..BUT I LOVE THE REVOLUTION
They were the backing band of his best era…And they nail it everytime.
You can see why PRINCE put them together
Still playing tight all these years. Like they never stopped playing with each other.
These were special shows!
The Revolution played these songs right because they are the original band. And it sounded so good!
Princes Reign was so huge!

👏🏻🎸😎
Andre and Dez might not agree with you that The Revolution were the original band
Amen!
The revolution. Princes best band.
Yes!
What I loved about this gig was how they mostly played the full versions/arrangements of His songs, whereas when I saw Him, He did loads of those medleys/snippits/stop-start-bits that He used to do, which did my head in.
:-)
Wendy Melvion you are amazing. I knew this before his premature demise. Thanks for giving us another chance to hear his music x
My heart is full. Thank you guys. I thought I would miss Prince being there. Of course I do but you guys held it down for him superbly!
Amazing! No wonder Prince chose Wendy to be in his band. She is so damn smart and talented, too! This was the best tribute show to see. Excellent!

The Revolution needs to produce a new abulm.
Featuring different vocalist.
Nope.
No they don’t
Brilliant footage! I did both days, it really did bring back the flavour of those raw funk filled early eighties.

Y'all are the best! If I close me eyes Mark sounds a lot like Prince. Phenomenal!
Ahh so many brilliant sexy tunes from the era of freedom DMSR!

To be brutally honest....Seeing these guys reunite is like seeing a dead relative come back to life! Only this is a lot cooler!
Goosies for days when they played PURPLE RAIN! REST IN HEAVENLY PARADISE PRINCE! 💜🕊💜🕊💜
Everybody is talking about Mark and Wendy, but Lisa, Bobby, and Fink were there from the beginning 💟
I just know them as the revolution regardless ..... they all seem happy together
Before Wendy there was Dez and before BrownMark there was André... André Cymone is one of the very originator of the Minneapolis Sound because he created the group Grand Central which included Prince on guitar, Morris Day on drums, André on basse, Linda ( André 's sister) on keyboards
Damn, that was the most funkiest place of the world, good lord
I saw them in Houston. Come back Revolution!!!!!
I'm 42yrs old and I'll pay $$$$ to see them play.
noah6 I saw them twice and they were amazing. Didn’t cry for the first time since he passed. It was like a beautiful musical family reunion
Fantastic!!! When will you start touring again? Concert in Brussels was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid...Still sad about it!
Brown Mark, way more talented than I gave him credit for.
just found his TH-cam channel - I'm learning to play bass ..lol
Oh Wow! 33:27 STRAIGHT OUTTA: Minneapolis, USA! That sound....That Funky sound! Funk is to Minneapolis as Jazz is to New Orleans, or Blues is to Chicago! The best band since Sly and the Family Stone and The JB’s with James Brown.
The Revolution needs 2 make some new music 4 the world.
Still Funky!!!!❤
Wendy - just my style. Top sidewoman.
We were there
my generations wailers
