This is very moving to me. I'm so grateful for Dave. He's so open and heartfelt, which is obviously why he's been so successful singing, but I love that he's like that about his thoughts. I'm sure people who know him closely no far more about him than people who absorb his interviews think they know about him, but at the same time he's very clearly trying to communicate his actual feelings to the public in a way that Martin doesn't feel comfortable doing.
And the thing that I think is most notable about Dave and that people don't seem to have really focused on is just he's relentlessly improved and gained skills and added things that he's done from the very beginning. I don't think anyone listening to speak and spell would have thought him capable of singing condemnation a mere 11 years later. Yet by construction time again he already sounded dramatically different with far more range and far more vocal tricks. By some great reward, he starts sounding like the man who sings all those songs on violator and then recent years he's become a songwriter who can hold his own in a band with Martin freaking gore.
And he's such a good dad to his kids and he made up for the time when he wasn't able and prepared to be a good dad to his earlier kids. And as a dad myself, I think nothing shows character better than that.
And of course watching the way that he's mourning his friend Andrew is touching to me. Lost our youngest son a couple years after Spirit came out and that was rough. So I will say that sounds of the universe came out right when I absolutely needed it and it feels like this is coming out and that it's been a few years since losing our boy and then we lost Fletch, and just seeing that they made this album to heal instead of retreating and giving up is a big statement and a big help on its own like we hugged and hugged when we saw that picture of them in the studio and their words were just perfect. So I mean with COVID so many people. So many families are not the way they were a few years ago. There's been horrible tragedies all over the place. Raging pandemics, a lot of loss and having a piece of art that helps with that is is super vital to me at least and to anyone with the ears to hear it and the heart to recognize it.

I started listening to DM as a kid in the eighties. They continue to impress me. The music is amazing, their energy is amazing. Just went to their concert in November and it was absolutely epic. True talent and original sound and lyrics. They are such a gem❤
