Martin being a bit more of an optionally sadistic roughneck... Dave has always, always been the most gentle soul in Depeche - and you can hear that in his solo albums and DM album tracks. And also see that, here.
Yes, really sensible questions from people who seem genuinely interested. Unlike the current idiots, Naga LookAtMe, Dan GlassOfWater, etc. Thanks The Hungarian Depeche Mode Fan Club for uploading this.
In my opinion, he went from a cute looking guy (I don't mean this in a negative way) who could have been in a boy band to a cool dude who is a rock star in just three years (1989 - 1992)
Dave at 27 looked his absolutely most healthy and happy here. Such a few short years until his grunge look, breakdown, addiction and near death experience.
W💙W beautiful Dave. Yesssss this concert in Pasadena at 🌹 Bowl spectacular. But unfortunately I missed (mom said No, 😢). God Dave is gorgeous and that British accent divine. Beautiful 🎵 and voice ☝️ of a kind magnificent. I thank God every day for my #1 band ever D🌹M🥰🥰🥰🥰
I was introduced to their music in 1991. Im a black guy and had only listened to rap and r&b and my parents jazz music, sometimes gospel. I bought a Cd player for my 1st car that I also to young to drive legaly lol. 16yo. Bought it from a neighbor down the street who was my best friend. He was 18yo. Anyway, The other neighbor who sold me the CD player from his truck was a white guy and he left a CD in the player. Took me a few weeks to find this out because I hadnt hook up the CD player yet. It immediately ejected a cd when I did get it hooked up. "DEPECHE MODE".... I Never heard of it nor listened to it before. I took it down the street to give it back to my neighbor but he had already left for college his sister said. She said to just keep it. I returned home and popped into the head unit and listened in my parents garage. I was wowed !!! Enjoy this silence was my favorite amongst a few others and I couldn't stop playing this CD. Even my other friends started to memorize the tracks because I played it so much in my bedroom and car. I was an instant fan and I still am.
And in just over a year from this interview, with the release of Violator, they will indeed (finally) dominate the US charts, and be catapulted into worldwide fame and success. And as sold out tours show throughout the decades, they've stayed there ever since, over 30 years later. Such an amazing band.
Wow, it´s so refreshing to see a benevolent and eloquent discussion, without the need to hype something out of an interview, just good understandable questions and pure honesty from Dave
Very good interviewer, very well prepared and eloquent, actually both of them, the dude with the mustache as well. Now, if you compare them to the amateur idiots asking them dumb & trivial questions at every single press conference nowadays like "why did you make this record?" or "what was it like to be in the studio?" arghhhh... 😬😬
Wonderful interview. Learned a new word thanks to Dave, "twee", and also learned that Alan and Fletcher would get in to real, physical fights [who else could Dave have been talking about?]. Very interesting, and I can just imagine Alan's frustration.
I was at 101. I was 16 years old and I went with my high school sweetheart. I never knew 101 was named after the hundred and first concert of that tour. Here in Southern California we have a freeway called 101 and it’s close to the Rose Bowl. That’s why I thought they named the record 101. How funny. I just say the band in December here in Los Angeles. Of course I miss Alan and Fletcher but nothing stays the same. I was lucky enough to go to 101 a concert for the masses

26 year old Dave Gahan. Yum.
Very eloquent discussion and sharp awareness from such a young Dave. Generations can learn a lot today.

I guess America has that effect
I’ve always been surprised at how high pitched Dave’s speaking voice was when he was younger.
Dave at 27 looked his absolutely most healthy and happy here. Such a few short years until his grunge look, breakdown, addiction and near death experience.
His '90-'91 look I prefer. Finally lost the last of the babyface, not to mention the stubble. Woof.
I adore Dave❤️ He deserves respect as person!
Funny how the presenters look so dated and Dave looks timeless
