Part 2 of the jigs fishing series focusing on surface irons. Some basic tips for you jigslingers (and future jigslingers) out there to try. Hope these tips help!
After all these years and buying all these jigs my favorite all time jig is the Salas 6X heavy. Glow in the dark really catches everything. It eliminates having to carry all these colors like you said.
Leo, I see in your picture your holding up a couple of nice reds. That's how I got into jig fishing 37 yrs ago. I've never looked back. Your off to a great jig fishing future. God Bless.
Sgt Fisher They do work. I’ve caught yellows with them before. Especially when fish are keyed on smaller baits. But you should have some bigger jigs in your tackle box as well. Get the Tady 45 and JRI 7. They’re similar to the 112. 👍
Sgt Fisher If I’m offshore fishing surface iron for tuna a chrome Tady 45 is hard to beat. But my favorite way to catch tuna, especially school size, is with poppers. I’ll cover poppers later on in the season. As for yellows any of the irons in this video would work. I usually toss a mint Starman 112 for them. The one I have is a great swimmer. 👍
pan8a Tady C’s were made to fill the space between the 45 and the A1. Tady introduced them as special jigs for barracuda so they’re great for those. They also get bit by bass yellows bonita etc. I don’t carry them much these days because I try to keep my tackle bag light when I fish so not enough room for everything. I’ll probably bring them at some point especially the purple/white one in this vid. ☝️
whenever I get a new rod or reel, I go to the harbor and practice casting for hours... it's funny all the people looking at me like I'm an idiot throwing irons in Dana Point Harbor, but hey, when I get on the boat I don't look stupid!
Yeah definitely. I'll be setting up an Instagram account soon for this channel specifically to use the PM feature for this purpose. Be great to meet and fish with other anglers!
That's a pretty good price for them. I usually see them for $15 a piece. At the FHS I usually get 'em for about $9 a piece. They're quickly becoming my favorites btw. Swims so well.

One of my favorites right there!
You should make more jig videos. Lots of new jigs out there for the bluefin tunas.
Thank you for sharing. You cowboyed up.
Great video! Trying to get into jig fishing more and this helps a lot
It's definitely a fun way to catch fish!

what yoyo iron is best for fastest possible retrieve to get reaction bite?
I like the Salas jigs for yoyo
Can you please let us know how to tie in to your line? Which knot to use. Also, can you add a split ring? or use a snap swivel?
Shadi Bader I use a uni knot to tie most things. No swivels.
Have you tried using the realistic-looking wraps that cover the older jigs and hardbaits
n6yun Nope. They do look very realistic. Probably catches more fishermen than fish tho. 😂
Does Tying the iron directly to the line vs using a quick clip make a difference?
c_william8 I’ve never tried it. Heard from some that iron swims better like that.
What jigs you prefer for bass and bonito
Tady A1 is really good for bass. Anything shiny for bonito. Colt sniper types.
Jigslinger's Fishing Channel ok thank you
Do you think a tady A1 will work for yellowtail because I couldn’t find the starman 112

Do you have any opinions on PEP and Killer Jigs?
I've never fished them. They do look good. Anyone else use these?
Jigslinger's Fishing Channel how often or when do you use the Tady C

Will Fishing That’s it buddy! All it takes is a little practice. 🤙
Offset hole for the ring is a hoax. The best ever swimming jig I’ve seen/had is a star man 112 with sharp equal hips. Not offset.
Boost_life Awesome that you found a great swimming jig! Hopefully you caught a lot of fish on it before it was gone. 👍
It's not a hoax because if people believe it, then they have more confidence in the jig and therefore they will catch more with it.
You fish local Southern Cal boats let us know ahead of time when you're going out will join you

Idk how much your paying for the jri's but I go to this tackle shop called youngs tackle and thier 11.99 thier I believe.

Jigslinger's Fishing Channel yah jri's are pretty sweet.
And how are you supposed to work the tady A1. Let it sink then jig or cast it then jig right away
Sgt Fisher You can do both. Vary your methods to see what’s working for that particular day. This goes for all surface iron.
You need a better microphone a lot of echoing in that room it's hard to understand you and every time you shake The Jig the sound takes out your voice
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I think I do need a better microphone. lol
