Cassie, I am a 43 year old American Truck driver. I have been driving since I was 21. so 22 years now I have been an asphalt cowboy, and it is the only thing I know how to do. When this body fails me, my sight goes or heart or anything, I will have NOTHING to fall back on. Trucking is all I know. It's wonderful to hear you are going to do something different. Kudos to you Cassie for taking that initiative to learn a new trade. You are amazing and wish I was just half the person you are! Well done! I did several of these STCW courses when I was in the British Merchant Navy. Found the courses very useful. They were a requirement for people work on ships.

I'm over 80 now and have had several careers. I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up. Always new things to learn and new things to do. Try whatever appeals to you. Education is portable and easy to carry with you compared to material things.Usually keeps its value too.

I'm seafarer for more than 20 yrs and I can recommend that line of work. Once you start you cannot back down. For me the best job ever and the best way of life.

Yea that is stressful, I’ll take fie fighting. Water survival is a different animal. Flipping over in a helicopter, upside down unbuckle and open door under water. Y’all did very well. If you have to fly offshore that training is included. Thank you for sharing.
Enjoyed your video update. Try to do hard things to improve you're life. Something you will like some not, but you tried. Have done the smoke chamber and putting out fire. When young I got on a plane flew to Europe and had a great time skiing time In the Alps. Only new English when most countries did not speak it. What fun!! So try different things. 👋🇺🇸

As always an awesome video. I am happy that you enjoyed your learning experience. Those are always the best. When you learn something and can enjoy it, it sticks with you. Hearing about your firefighting experience bring back found memories for myself. A school field trip to the fire station. They let me try on some on of the gear they use. It was awesome. And remains amoung my most impressionable memories. While I wanted to join the fire service I have to many health issues for that to be a viable option, I do have the utmost respect for the men and women in that line of work. And you can now use your firefighting knowledge, as basic and brief as it may be, in your regular line of work. Should the unfortunate even of its use come to pass. As always thank you for the great videos.

Like so many other truckers that been driving as long as you. They start to ask if there are anything else they can do in there life. But they always come back, because they say they have deisel in there blood so thay want to come back to the freedom they have out on the roads. Well done Cassie on passing all those difficult tasks. Just try get some exposure to rough seas in a boat before you commit to a full time job on the sea. Personally I have had a rough time with sea sickness 😂 Even if you do not take a job on a boat …. All the things you learned can also be applied in other situations on land and perhaps in rivers and lakes for the water aspect.

Nah, firefighters have to be in such a tiptop shape, both physically and mentally. And I'm not there really 😄 But I had dreams to become a firefighter when I was little! 🤩

One of my daughters was working as wedding photographer quite successfully, but then she got a job at Royal Caribbean and while dealing with senior tourist wasnt really her thing, she got to visit Australia, Hawai, New Caledonia, Alaska, Canada and the US. On the boat she fell in love with an hindi officer and so got to travel with him to India and Thailand 😊 … pity that covid put an end to that job, nowadays she is in property photography. Cheers!
ahh remember my STCW stuff.. many years ago now.. not been back to ship since.. not long before corvid.. weirdly my life changed direction a bit (because of corvid) , and am now finishing up a course to get onto HGV's and get in the companies artics. the whole corvid thing made me lose the will to keep going in entertainment. but that said.. 11 ish years at sea (with the odd international tour inbetween contracts) no regrets and ive seen more of the world than most people realise exists. but I was starting to lose my marbles a bit (its not obvious but there are signs)... there is something about living, sleeping, eating and socialising ..... AT work that eventualy mentally wears you out. its also why I think work from home is a load of S ...... yeh.
This sort of reminds me of my works' fire awareness courses; they wanted us to use fire extinguishers, but the instructors didn't want me to do some of them because I was always willing and some of the office staff were scared of fire extinguishers.

Yes truly! I remember when I was like 10, and I couldn't wait to grow up and "do what I wanted". Now I look back at almost 11 years of trucking, and wondering where all the time went 😅
Yes Cassie for all them that work offshore on Oil Platforms and Rigs, the workers need to undergo Survival Training over a 5 day course and if you are uncomfortable in water of a swimming pool , think what it is like in cold freezing water pumped in from the North Sea. We have to qualify every 2 years but thank my God I am out of that now and a miserable pensioner instead. If thinking of working in the sea fairing industry what of your pets, who takes care of them while you are travelling from port to port?

Yes Cassie for all them that work offshore on Oil Platforms and Rigs, the workers need to undergo Survival Training over a 5 day course and if you are uncomfortable in water of a swimming pool , think what it is like in cold freezing water pumped in from the North Sea. We have to qualify every 2 years but thank my God I am out of that now and a miserable pensioner instead. If thinking of working in the sea fairing industry what of your pets, who takes care of them while you are travelling from port to port?
I think you should take a tank driving course and charge around Sweden in a Leopard tank....😃
